Chapter 27: Ignorance Is Bliss

The lead assassin said to Fate,

"Fate, there is no use grandstanding. Even Crown Prince Nimrod Bloodsworn has approved of this mission. You will not survive today."

Fate waved his hand at them, saying,

"Yeah, yeah, whatever! Ruby, go ahead and take out the trash."

Out of nowhere, arrows flew at the five men on the right of Fate. They were pierced through the throat and fell over dead.

From the left, five women, including Shadow, appeared and slit the throats of four of the men, leaving the leader alive but knocked out for later questioning.

After this simple slaughter, all of the members of the Blood Maidens, including Ruby, knelt on the ground in front of Fate.

Ruby said to Fate in a regretful tone,

"Forgive us for our negligence, master!"

Fate stood up and grabbed Ruby’s hand, lifting her up to look into his eyes as he said,

"It’s nothing to worry about, Ruby. This will only continue to happen more often in the future. That’s why I asked for this magic bell—to be able to summon you all no matter where I am. Besides, my love, I’m not so easy to kill, so relax a bit. Remember to expect this to happen in the future, so just come running when I call for your assistance."

When all of these women heard Fate’s words, they began to cry. Their new master was so kind to them, unlike that tyrant Samuel Bloodsworn. That man would always kill Ruby’s public subordinates if she failed at something. That’s why she raised the Blood Maidens behind the king’s back without him knowing. fɾeeweɓnѳveɭ.com

Ruby looked at Fate as he forgave her carelessness and smiled. She began to love Fate in a truly profound way at this moment; it went beyond the level of just obsessive love.

This love within her heart seemed to be beyond her current understanding. But Ruby knew it would drive her to achieve even greater results for her master.

Now, even her subordinates began to understand why she is so obsessed with this man. An army of assassin yanderes is a very scary and efficient thing. In a world that treats women as disposable pawns, Fate is unique in the fact that he cares about those who serve him.

Feeling his public image as a terrifying villain slipping, he said to everyone,

"Can you all clean this mess up, please? Ruby, go ahead and take care of that assassin leader. Be sure to treat him according to the international prisoner rights standards."

Ruby only heard the words, "Torture the shit out of him," from Fate’s mouth. Again, Ruby became infected by her unique interpretation/yandere syndrome, doing exactly the opposite of what her master intends.

Fate left Ruby behind as he ran off to look for something to do.

Fate began to wonder if he should just attend Bloomspire Academy so that he could mock Prince Nimrod and Maria for fun. It’s not like he had to attend classes if he did not want to.

Fate is in the unique position to fool around doing anything he wants. All of those kids are not titled nobles like him.

Since he is already the head of his family, even as a teenager, Fate is exempt from a lot of the constraints placed on the students of Bloomspire Academy.

That’s not even the best part—with Ruby by his side, Fate is now untouchable. But from what Ruby has hinted, one of her friends may be coming to Valoria. The dark Saintess Amara Sterling is coming to his city with her dark paladins.

The Church of Divine Promises replaced Amara with a more compliant Saintess, just like the king did with Ruby.

After this incident was over, Fate found himself on the streets of Valoria after leaving the Citadel.

Walking on the streets, Fate noticed that many of the poor had disappeared from their usual begging positions, something that the commoners and nobles seemed to have not noticed at all.

Fate figured that Ruby was behind this development, so he wisely ignored it. Following one of his greatest rules in life: ignorance is bliss.
