Chapter 26: The Bell Tolls For You
With the hallways of his castle conveniently empty, Fate waited for the attack that was sure to come. He looked down both sides of the hallway and then spotted a nice chair to sit down on.
Fate sat down on the chair and waited. You could hear a pin drop in the hallway.
Finally, as if taking their time, the ten assassins showed up at both ends of the hallway.
They were upset when they did not hear back from their contact in Shadow Spire Citadel, the unnamed head chef in charge of making meals for Duke Fate Grimsever.
After his clear failure, the officials in the Church of Divine Promises grew impatient. They wanted the territory of the Southern Hampshire Plains for their own use. It’s the most prosperous territory in the world of Vale due to the fact that Bloomspire Academy is located in its capital city of Valoria.
Now, these assassins, sent by the Church of Divine Promises, finally cornered Fate Grimsever all by himself. As they closed in on their target, they saw something strange.
Surprise! Fate got his rope bell as soon as he told Ruby about the idea. Fate kept it a surprise for everyone.
"Surprise, bitches! Now you can go ahead and die."
*Bong Bong*
The bell was heard in every corner of Shadow Spire Citadel. In fact, Ruby was so obsessed that it be heard, she made it loud enough to knock these assassins on their asses.
All of these assassins covered their ears as they began to bleed from them. Then they all fell to the ground, dazed and confused.
One of the assassins screamed.
"Ahh! Where the hell did that bell come from? I can’t even see it!"
Fate pulled the cotton out of his ears that he had prepared earlier.
"Yeah, that little bell emptied my treasury by two-thirds. But unfortunately, it’s full again, so I need to find another self-defense project. Maybe a personal shield can be developed. This world is only going to keep trying to kill me. The official story of Bloomspire Academy can’t start until it does. Even if the academy starts classes, I’m the linchpin of the entire story."
In the shadows, a scary pair of black eyes could be seen glowing, reflecting the vast darkness contained in the human heart.
These eyes belonged to the extremely pissed-off MILF, Ruby Valentine.
Fate just kept sitting as Ruby ran to his side, bypassing these floundering assassins.
Then she held out a tray with grapes and wine on it for Fate to enjoy.
Fate began to snack as the assassins finally recovered and stood up. They used some powerful healing magic from their church to recover from the injuries caused by the bell.
They looked at Ruby but did not take her seriously at all.
After all, they had no intelligence on the person backing Fate Grimsever now, or that their extremely yandere leader was standing in front of them at this moment.
The leader of the assassins spoke while Fate continued to be fed by Ruby.
"It’s no use calling for help, Duke Fate Grimsever. The church has declared you an abomination and sentenced you to death for the greater good of Vale and its people." ƒгeeweɓn૦vel.com
Fate, after listening to this speech, used his finger to pick wax out of his ear, then flicked it at the man who spoke. It landed right on his face as Fate responded, saying,
"I’m sorry, I could not hear you over the sound of me enjoying my food and the view of my lovely maid."
The assassins began to shake in anger at this blatant attempt to provoke them.
