Chapter 106: The Brick Of Truth
Dirk heard Fate’s words, and for a second, he did not know what to say.
But then, quickly, Dirk walked up to stand in front of Fate, trying to do the classic gunt intimidation bump by pushing his gunt into Fate’s stomach and forcing him to take a step back.
But how could Fate fall for the classic male villain gunt attack? He is the definition of a villain.
So Fate simply lifted up his foot, kicked Dirk in his gut, and sent him flying on his ass to the ground.
*Splat*
Dirk’s ass made a nice impression on the stone ground. But Dirk was used to being kicked around, so he quickly recovered and stood back on his feet.
He pointed at Fate with a shaky finger as he said to him,
"Fate Grimsever, my mother will never let you off for kicking me like that! Every person besides my mother who has ever kicked me around has met a bad ending at the tip of my mother’s spear."
Fate paused as he realized that Nyssara Darkmoon is indeed a spear wielder. Now that Fate thinks about it, his current and future wives all wield big and very vicious weapons, don’t they?
Fate shook his head and smiled. It’s not like they use them on him, so what does he care?
But what Fate did not realize is that all men everywhere care as they think, *Why are your wives so angry at me, Fate Grimsever?*
With a smile on his face, Fate said to Dirk,
"Dirk, please, you are not really Nyssara Darkmoon’s son. She is your aunt and took pity on your mom abandoning you. She took you in and gave you the title of Prince."
Dirk began to tremble in anger. How dare a mere Duke say such shameful things to him! Dirk, now fully angry, looked at the female elven guard by his side and said to her,
"Jasmine, give this Duke a good beating for me on my mother’s behalf."
The beautiful dark elf, Jasmine, only looked at the prince and said to him,
"Prince Dirk, we have been ordered by the Queen that under no circumstances are we to lay a finger on Fate Grimsever. If we see him in danger, we are to risk our own lives to help him. Your mother was very clear about this to us."
When Dirk heard this, his mouth almost hit the floor. Then he said to Jasmine,
"Stupid bitch! What the hell is my mother paying you for if it’s not to humiliate my enemies for me? Jasmine, I order you to beat this man up immediately."
Jasmine looked at Fate for a moment in contemplation, then turned back to Dirk and said,
"No, I don’t think I would win a battle against Duke Fate, so I will pass. But Prince Dirk, if you want to show me how great of a prince you are, then fight Fate yourself. After all, your mother always handles her enemies herself, so why can’t you? We dark elves believe in totalitarian supremacy, but humans would refer to it as ruling with an iron fist. Go ahead, Prince Dirk, show me, a defenseless woman, how great you fight."
Dirk suddenly felt like his credibility as a man was being challenged, so he looked at Fate and, without even saying anything to him, let out the breath he was holding, and his gunt grew twice its normal size. ƒreewebɳovel.com
Fate stepped back in fear for a moment as he saw this inflatable prince in front of him. But then Fate remembered his time on Earth when he had to console some of his family members after a bad breakup.
He recalled how they would eat an entire box of bonbons and grow twice the size in one night. So, seeing this trick, Fate regained his confidence as he said to Dirk,
"Dirk, don’t do anything foolish. You will not like how I respond to aggression from others."
But Dirk ignored Fate’s warning and foolishly charged at him like a little pig looking for his mud pit, only to realize he did not find a pit behind those bushes but a brick wall.
Fate looked around for a weapon to use, but to his surprise, Jasmine tossed him a large brick.
Fate caught the brick in one hand, and like an experienced baseball pitcher, twisted his body and let it fly through the air straight at Dirk’s face.
*Bam*
*The Sound of Teeth Flying Through the Air*
Dirk collapsed onto the ground like a bag of expired potatoes. Fate looked at Jasmine, the dark elf warrior, and said,
"I thought dark elves were supposed to fight their own battles. Why did you help me?"
Jasmine smiled and said to Fate in a serious tone of voice,
"Dirk is a useless fool, and I don’t like him. He is always trying to hit on me. What more reason do I need than this? Queen Nyssara would have just given the prince a kick to his family jewels like she always does. In fact, it’s been well established that the prince, after so many beatings from the Queen, can’t even have kids anymore. Which is a blessing in disguise for the royal family and may be one of the Queen’s long-term plans to explain why she beats her nephew so often."
Fate had heard of vicious aunts before, but this time, he was truly shocked to think Nyssara would come up with such a foolproof way to end Dirk’s family line.
Honestly, it was very impressive. It reminded Fate of one of his old flings, Tiamat. That chicken would wipe out someone’s family up to ten generations back if they even offended Fate slightly. There were times that Fate had to take Tiamat to pound town just so she would not kill all of Fate’s guy friends who liked to hassle him a bit.
Looking at Jasmine, Fate only said one word in response to her,
"Impressive."
Jasmine seemed satisfied with his response to how she handled the situation. With a smile on his face, Fate said to Dirk as he picked up the brick on the ground for a second round,
"Oh, look at this, Dirk. It looks like you dropped something. Let me return it to you."
*Dropping Brick*
*Bonk!*
Dirk screamed out loud as he said,
"Oww! My beautiful nose and teeth! How will I attract the ladies now?"
Fate could only laugh at this statement and say to Dirk,
"Well, I consider it a community service, then, since now you can’t. But I have to get moving now to get my quest from the Guild. It was a pleasure meeting you, Dirk. Be sure to drop by again, and we will see what I can shake loose to beat you with next time."
Fate continued towards the entrance of the Adventurers Guild.
