Chapter 105: The Pree School Quest

Sandy smiled as she said to Sam,

"My lady, I have handled the guild investigation as you ordered. I had the honor of eliminating my team in order to keep our forces in this area secret."

Sam nodded her head and replied,

"Excellent work, Sandy. As you know, I am the Phoenix Eye for the guild in this city. A Phoenix Eye’s job is to gather intelligence and spy on the various organizations that we have infiltrated. If the opportunity arises, we must deal with minor threats to our god, like this quest the guild master issued."

Sandy looked up at Sam, who was dressed in red robes, and asked,

"My lady, do you wish for those of us who are Ash Disciples within the guild to eliminate the Guild Master so that he will not pose a problem to the Phoenix Lord?"

Sam shook her head and answered,

"Sandy, it is the job of the Ash Disciples to be the lowest level of warriors within Phoenix Rising. As such, your current strength makes you unsuitable for this kind of task. No, Sandy, the Flame Mother wishes us to remain hidden for now and for me to continue growing the ranks of the Faithful within the Adventurers Guild. The guild master is only the messenger of the higher-ups within the guild. Killing him will not change anything."

Sandy was shocked to learn that as an Ash Disciple, she was ranked the lowest within the military forces of Phoenix Rising, especially as an A-ranked adventurer. Her new masters saved the lives of her sister and parents from human slavers and moved them to one of their many underground demi-human colonies. In thanks for saving her only family members, Sandy decided to dedicate her life to the man who saved them—the Phoenix Lord.

With determination in her eyes, Sandy looked at Sam and said,

"My Lady Phoenix Eye, please allow me the opportunity to grow stronger and prove myself to the one who saved my family and found us a safe home."

Sam smiled upon hearing this request. It was always nice when her own subordinates asked her to help them become stronger, allowing them to climb in rank within Phoenix Rising and be of more use to their god. With a pleasant look on her face, Sam said,

"Very well. I will give you the opportunity to become stronger, not only in mind but in body as well. You will be sent to Chaos Infernum, the hell dimension where we send the most devoted of the Faithful. Once there, you will face a fight for your life, as everything in that place will be out to kill you. Remember, don’t trust what you see with your eyes—only what your faith in our god leads you towards."

Sandy immediately got up from the ground and left the student branch of the Adventurers Guild, making her way on foot to Chaos Infernum. This would be her first holy pilgrimage undertaken for her new god, Fate Grimsever—the Phoenix Lord and the only true master of this world.

Sam watched Sandy leave, and with a content sigh, she passed some magic through her red robes, making them revert to a normal guild uniform that would never attract any attention. That was Sam’s job as a Phoenix Eye—to spy on others, gather intelligence, and, when the opportunity arose, spread the influence of Phoenix Rising.

Fate was reading the morning paper when he saw the news about how Count Victor Dupont and his lackeys were killed the night before at the meal he hosted. Fate could only sigh in relief, glad that he missed that shit show. It must have been the work of that idiot prince and saintess. After all, they were constantly trying to kill him, and if Horse-kun can’t get Fate, then some harmless poison stands even less of a chance.

Fate was just glad his capable wives handled this mess without needing to involve him. He took a moment to look out the nearby window and noticed that the sun had a hazy red tint to it today. That meant it was going to be a good day for him. Whenever Fate felt like there was blood in the air, it seemed like both Ruby and Amara got very excited in bed and asked him to punish them.

With this thought in mind, Fate began to plan tonight’s activities. But first, he had to go and pick up a quest from the Adventurers Guild to do an activity with his wives. In a few days’ time, the first year of school for Bloomspire Academy would begin. At this time, Fate had a vague idea that he was going to be very busy dealing with several new members in his harem.

Ruby had told Fate that the dark elf queen, Nyssara Darkmoon, and the Grand Duchess, Catherine Primrose, would be in Valoria in a few days’ time. Then, Fate thought about his harem target at Bloomspire Academy—Principal Gloria Pasternack, or simply Ms. Pasternack, to all the men who simped after the former Demon Lord. That woman was very fond of wearing black stockings on her long, sexy legs, along with glasses that accentuated her platinum blonde hair.

Fate could already imagine how he would deal with that woman. Well, to be honest, Fate didn’t need to do any work at all. Ruby seemed to have made arrangements for quite a few MILFs to enter his harem. Things were going to get lively in the bedroom soon. It was a good thing he was immortal, or his women would have long since sucked him dry.

Fate left Shadow Spire Citadel behind as he went out alone to get the quest from the student branch of the Adventurers Guild. Being outside alone was not something Fate had done in quite some time. But even out alone, Fate saw all kinds of businesses and homes sporting that same weird color of red he had noticed on several other occasions.

But from overhearing people talking, this was the first time Fate had heard the name of this group of people. They called themselves the Faithful. Fate wondered if this was only their public name and if they actually had a far more sinister one behind the scenes. But thinking about this, Fate shook his head in denial. Covert groups of crazy people didn’t just pop up out of nowhere, so don’t jump to conclusions, Fate.

Fate didn’t even notice that many sets of eyes were currently watching him walk around with fanatical devotion in their eyes.

Fate arrived at the Adventurers Guild several minutes later but frowned, seeing the Dark Elf Prince, Dirk Darkmoon, standing in front of him, blocking his way into the guild. The man had silver hair and the same red eyes as his mother. He was tall, with a semi-muscular body, but this man’s body had one glaring problem. He was what most men would call "skinny fat," meaning he had a fit, athletic body—if you could look past his pot belly. Fate could tell that Dirk’s belly was not a divine blessing either. No, Dirk earned this belly all with his own hard work. But Fate was relieved; honestly, it could be a lot worse than this.

Dirk sneered as he walked up to Fate and said to this loser, freēwebnovel.com

"Fate Grimsever, my mother has been made aware of the fact that you have her spatial pouch. Soon she will arrive here in the city, and when she does, you better wash your neck and prepare for your funeral because my mother never lets anyone who steals from her off the hook."

Fate almost laughed hearing this statement, then said to Dirk,

"Well, Dirk Darkmoon, there’s a first time for everything."
