Chapter 414: Chapter 416
Su Nian spoke quietly, her voice faint. A flicker of disgust crossed the man’s eyes before he quickly concealed it.
Frowning, he said, "Hurry up. We can’t get caught."
But he failed to notice the eerie smile on Su Nian’s face.
Blinking, she replied softly, "Okay."
She immediately matched his pace. The man in the plaid shirt spoke reluctantly, "In two minutes, we’ll reach the zoo. We need to hurry. This time, we’re going to the Lion Garden. There’s a hole there—I saw it. It looks like it connects to a tunnel leading outside. If we climb out through there, we’ll be saved!"
Su Nian gave him a huge smile, her eyes filled with complete trust for the man before her.
Two minutes later, just as he’d said, the two of them left the amusement park behind and arrived at an iron gate with the word "Zoo" written in large letters.
It was completely silent here; not a sound could be heard.
Meanwhile, the ghosts impaled on the stick Su Nian had stuck in the ground all turned to look in the direction she had gone.
"What’s the meaning of this?"
"Did that idiot ghost really fall for the little monster’s act?"
"He probably doesn’t know what happened before!"
"Definitely. He’s always so full of himself!"
"I can’t wait to see him get thrashed by the little monster!"
"But what if the little monster was actually tricked?"
Su Nian didn’t hear these voices, but the plaid-shirted man’s expression suddenly changed.
There were other ghosts ahead, so he put on a different expression.
"Follow me carefully. We’ll go this way!"
Su Nian looked at the path he was pointing to. It was so remote it could hardly be called a path—just overgrown weeds.
"This way is safer! No other ghosts will see us!"
Su Nian nodded lightly. The man in the plaid shirt gave a faint, sinister smile and said no more.
Su Nian followed him all the way down the desolate path.
They continued until they reached the Lion Garden. There were no lions in the dilapidated enclosure, only faint bloodstains on the ground. Everything was deeply unsettling.
But Su Nian acted as if she hadn’t noticed a thing, merely looking around curiously.
In this setting, Su Nian herself was the most abnormal thing.
The moment they entered the Lion Garden, the man in the plaid shirt lowered his head and couldn’t help but let out a sinister chuckle.
Playing along, Su Nian glanced at him and asked quizzically, "What are you laughing at?"
At the same time, the main gate to the Lion Garden slammed shut and was locked!
The man in the plaid shirt kept his head down, his voice growing strange. "I forgot to tell you something."
Su Nian watched him, her eyes wide with seeming obliviousness.
But in the next second, the man in the plaid shirt snapped his head up.
He flashed a wide grin. "Actually, I’m a ghost too!"
As he spoke, a fierce wind began to tear through the area, its HOWLS echoing wildly.
It was strong enough to blow human tissues out from where they were hidden in the hole, scattering fingernails and human limbs across the ground.
Su Nian yawned, playing along with an impatient tone.
"Ahhh, I get it. You’re a ghost!"
The plaid-shirted man’s expression froze. He almost couldn’t believe what he was hearing. Seeing Su Nian’s placid reaction, a trace of doubt appeared in his eyes.
"What’s that supposed to mean?"
"But it doesn’t matter. You’ll be dead soon enough!"
Then, he seized Su Nian’s arm and gave it a hard tug. ’A woman this fair-skinned must have the tenderest flesh!’
But just then, he suddenly felt himself being restrained by an inexplicable force.
