Chapter 131: Chapter 131: Don’t Get Any Ideas About Her

He did not support Anne Sutton getting together with Justin Shields!

After all, Nathan Fawcett was still around!

Especially after yesterday...

Nathan Fawcett had even announced in front of all those people that he wanted to be with Anne Sutton.

Now, he wasn’t worried about Anne Sutton’s affairs at all.

Instead, he started trying to persuade Mrs. Sutton.

Mrs. Sutton looked at Sean Sutton and said, "Isn’t it all your fault that Anne is in this situation today? If it weren’t for you back then, would she have ended up like this? And now you’re standing here making light of it!"

She rarely lost her temper in front of her husband.

This was the first time.

Hearing this, Sean Sutton glared at her. "What are you talking about? Do you think I don’t love my own daughter? The reason I don’t want her with Justin Shields is because..."

He didn’t finish his sentence. If he had, he would have exposed Nathan Fawcett.

He glanced at Anne Sutton, then back at Mrs. Sutton.

"Forget it! I can’t be bothered to argue with you."

With that, he walked straight out.

...

Anne Sutton watched this scene unfold. She glanced at her mother, and seeing that Sean Sutton had left and her mother was about to start on her, Anne said, "I’m going to the restroom. Sharon, please keep Mom company."

She hurried out of the hospital room.

If her mother kept scolding her, she knew she could take it—she was thick-skinned—but she was afraid her mother would get too upset.

After all, her mother was a patient right now.

Anne Sutton walked out, thinking of heading straight back to work at the hospital, but she couldn’t help but worry about her mother.

She sat down on a nearby chair. Just then, someone walked up and stood before her. "What are you thinking about?"

Anne Sutton looked up at Justin Shields and said, "Mr. Shields."

"Mr. Shields?" Justin Shields repeated. "Weren’t you calling me Justin? Why the sudden ’Mr. Shields’? My mom asked me to bring some food for your mother, and I saw you sitting here. What’s wrong? Something on your mind?"

"It’s nothing," Anne Sutton said.

But it was clear from her expression that she was unhappy.

Justin Shields sat down beside her. "If you don’t mind, you can tell me about it."

Anne Sutton thought about the whole mess with her and Ethan Linden. How could she possibly tell him about it? "I’d better not," she said.

"Then let me guess. Is it about Ethan Linden?" Justin Shields asked, seeming to see right through her.

Anne Sutton looked at Justin Shields. "Why would you say that?"

"Are you in love with Ethan Linden?" Justin Shields asked.

At his question, Anne Sutton’s heart seemed to clench.

She denied it. "No, I don’t love him. I just think he looks a lot like Nathan, and sometimes I get them confused."

"..." Hearing this, Justin Shields looked at her, a sense of helplessness washing over him. She really didn’t know anything.

’They’re the same person, of course you’d get them confused!’

Justin Shields looked at Anne Sutton and asked, "Did you love Nathan very much?"

He had heard some things about Anne Sutton from Stella Shields.

The gist of it was that Anne Sutton had promised to have a child for Nathan Fawcett, but in the end, after hearing the news of his death, she got together with Charles Prescott and had an abortion.

That was why Nathan Fawcett still refused to forgive her.

And why he wouldn’t tell her who he really was.

When Justin Shields asked her this question, Anne Sutton replied, "I don’t know. I guess I didn’t love him. There weren’t any feelings between us when we were together. It’s just... I always felt that Nathan was a pitiable person. He died so young, and I had promised him I would protect our child, but in the end, I couldn’t even keep the baby safe. I’m so useless! And now I have to watch the Prescotts take control of everything that belonged to the Fawcett Family."

"What happened with the child?" Justin Shields asked curiously.

Anne Sutton glanced at him and found his gaze to be very gentle.

She couldn’t help but lower her guard. "After Nathan’s father passed away, Charles Prescott always saw my unborn child as an obstacle. He wanted me to get rid of the baby because it would affect his inheritance of the Fawcett Family’s assets. I refused, so he bribed my father."

Seeing Justin Shields looking at her, Anne Sutton said, "I don’t know if you believe me, but it’s the truth. I have no proof, and my father will never admit it, so no one believes me. For years, I’ve dreamed of seeing Charles Prescott get what he deserves, but he just seems to be doing better and better. Now that Ethan Linden is here, I thought he might be able to take back the Fawcett Group, but I never expected..."

Thinking about what happened yesterday, Anne Sutton felt a headache coming on.

She didn’t even dare to show her face in front of Ethan Linden now.

She felt that as soon as she appeared, he would start acting like a madman again, insisting that she be with him!

Justin Shields hadn’t expected this. So there was a hidden story behind the matter of the child.

He had actually believed things were just as Stella Shields had described.

It seemed now that Nathan Fawcett had misunderstood Anne Sutton’s relationship with Charles Prescott.

He said, "You haven’t told Ethan Linden any of this? About the child?"

Anne Sutton looked at Justin Shields. "Even if I told him, would he believe me? He doesn’t like Nathan at all; he doesn’t care one bit about his brother. You don’t understand. Anna Linden and the rest of them don’t care about Nathan Fawcett at all."

Otherwise...

Ethan Linden wouldn’t be so reckless right now, completely indifferent to who ends up with the Fawcett Group.

Hearing Anne Sutton say that Ethan Linden didn’t care about Nathan Fawcett, Justin Shields couldn’t help but let out a cough.

"Are you okay?" Anne Sutton asked.

Justin Shields recovered and said, "I’m fine, I’m fine. Let’s go check on your mother."

After speaking, he stood up and walked through the door.

He took the items his mother had asked him to bring and delivered them to the hospital room.

Mrs. Sutton had just been nagging about Anne Sutton, but now that she saw Justin Shields had arrived, she stopped.

...

After delivering the items, Justin Shields dropped Anne Sutton off at the hospital where she worked, then drove to the Fawcett Group.

He went upstairs, entered Nathan Fawcett’s office, and saw him sitting there. Ian was there too.

Seeing him enter, Nathan Fawcett asked, "Why are you here?"

"I heard you announced at the meeting that you’re going to marry Anne Sutton. I came to see for myself."

Justin Shields sat down and looked at Nathan Fawcett. "Didn’t you say you wouldn’t get back together with her? Didn’t you say you still hated her? What, now you want to be with her again?"

Hearing Justin Shields’s words, Nathan Fawcett’s face turned cold. He felt like he had lost face.

After all, his current actions in pursuing Anne Sutton were a complete contradiction of his own words.

"My business is none of your business. You’re being too nosy!"

Justin Shields stared at him and started to laugh.

"What are you laughing at?" Seeing him chuckling, Nathan Fawcett felt a surge of irritation.

Justin Shields said, "I was just wondering, should I call you Nathan, or should I call you Ethan?"

Nathan Fawcett retorted, "If you just came here to spout nonsense, you can leave. We’re not that close."

’Justin Shields was Ethan Linden’s classmate, not his!’

Justin Shields said, "So it seems you’ve made up your mind to be with Anne Sutton?"

"She was my woman to begin with! Don’t you get any ideas! Are there no women in your life? If not, I can introduce you to some!" Nathan Fawcett looked at Justin Shields. "Trying to steal another man’s wife is a really low move."
