Chapter 353: Chapter 353 Helping In The shadows

Allison freewёbnoνel.com

With the joining of Matoe, and Ruby apparently evolving to the next stage, something our fox guards gushed about in our mind link, and congratulated us for, we ram back into the fray. The enemy is still coming, but not as forceful as before. They are fighting, but seemingly more to keep their lives, than to actually win advantage in the pack grounds.

Dragons have joined the battle, giving the enemy hell from the sky, making chaos and securing most of the borders. We take down the stragglers, and my mates tell me about the King’s sister, Amber, who is Queen of Dragons and her mates. She must have joined because of her family being in danger.

Suddenly a huge wolf runs up to us, and nods to the triplets. I don’t know who he is, although his aura seems familiar.

’Beta Kristian tells me Maze has sent a call for aid. I will link you to the details. Go and help them. We can hold our own here now.’ He says, and former King Matthew’s voice rings out in my mind.

Ruby is about to kneel to the former King when his wolf bow his head to her, a glint of pride and something else in his eyes.

’You can be proud of yourself, Allison, Ruby. We have seen what you’ve done, and you are meant for great things. Do fight for the mate bonds with my nephews, they just need a nudge.’ Ruby bows her head to him in return, silently promising on our behalf to try harder with the guys.

Yes, they have been stubborn about my title and name, and some of them have been cold and distant. But Elijah has not, and he most of all deserves to have a real chance. No rules. No, we can do this when and where. Their father has gotten his way for too long, and Mateo is right, we all need to stand up for ourselves, myself included.

’About time you realize that.’ Ruby says, snorting in our link.

Ethan asks us to follow Blake to our position, and specifically asks for Ruby to run at his right side, with Damon on our right and Loki on Blake’s left. Ruby is surprised, as am I, but we do as he asks. Then we move out with Daniel, his mate and our group of fox guards and wolves behind us.

Blake leads us quietly through the forest area, the night hiding our advances. The few enemy encounters we have either Ruby or Mateo take care of magically and quietly. We understand what is at stake here.

We come up to a tent camp, seeing other groups of wolves move through it in other directions with the Beta and Gamma’s. Dragons fly overhead, silhouettes on the black night sky.

We wait. Kiara or Maze is going to give us the signal. All of us are ready to strike when they do. The tension is thick in the air, and Ruby is practically vibrating with anticipation for the upcoming fight.

’EVERYONE CLOSE YOUR EYES!’ Kiara screams in my mind, and everyone else’s. We throw ourselves to the ground with our eyes closed just as light booms over the place, and then it’s all chaos.

Ruby jumps to the feet immediately after the boom, ready to strike enemies. They come crawling from all over the place, growling, whining and snapping their jaws at us. She reciprocates, leaping and breaking someone’s neck. Then she teleports us back to our mates, fighting side by side with their wolves. When a rogue tries to be smart and outflank Loki, Ruby teleports him to her and rips out his throat in one fluid motion. Blood is all over the place, and everyone is drenched.

Mateo jumps off Ash, Daniel’s wolf’s back, throwing lightning balls at demons and rogues. He works besides his mate, jumping up in time to dodge a rogue, staying in the air with his elemental powers. Ruby mirrors him, jumping up and hovering in the adobe the scene.

’Elijah, there is a gap in defense two clicks to your right.’ I tell him, not seeing if he closes it.

’EZRA DUCK!’ Damon throws himself flat on the ground, and the demon who tried to jump him miscalculates and gets ripped to pieces by my fox guards.

’Thanks Luna.’ Ezra mind links me back, startling us both. I can feel it in the sliver of a matebond I have with him, but then it brightens a little with his admission and a wave of satisfaction settles between us. ’I will say it out loud.’ He promises before he is off again.

At one point I see two figures leave the battlefield, running and seemingly bickering. It’s odd, but the fight calls my attention as Blake whines a growl. Ruby freezes the rogue who is clawing at our mate, who is on the ground. She teleports him to us, snapping her jaws at him. Then I feel a new kind of magic weave through us and the rogue disintegrates into dust particles.

’You’ve been holding back.’
