Chapter 296: Chapter 296 Selene’s Secret

Kiara

"Uh huh. Well, we are here for an explanation from Selene." I say. I don’t even know where I know that from, but as I say the words, I know it to be true in my heart. Inari narrows her eyes, she looks over our party, and then they land beyond us, on her sister. freeωebnovēl.c૦m

"An explanation? Then why are you here with her?" She asks, nodding to Keres. I growled at the rudeness of her tone.

"You may be my Goddess Inari, but I will not hesitate to teach you a lesson in manners if you don’t stop being a rude bitch." I tell her, Winter internally preparing to take her on. We are strong, and stubborn. We will teach this snobbish creature a lesson she won’t forget if she ever tries anything. Maze tightens his hold on me. Inari stares at me for the longest time before she smiles.

"You are an insolent little thing, but I respect your position. I apologize for sounding rude. Why have you brought Keres to our field?" I take a deep breath as Selene utters a primal noise, doubling over and grabbing her sister for support.

"We are here for a trade." Keres says, coming forward with someone. He is tall, lean and handsome. Selene stutters before stepping forward. Keres stops, and so does the man. "Not before you hold up your end of the bargain, sister." Keres says with a pleading undertone, but Selene shakes her head.

"No!" She says. She looks at the man with so much longing and sadness. I look between them not sure if I am actually witnessing what I am. Is this her mate? What the fuck? ƒreeωebnovel.ƈom

"What do you mean no?" Keres asks, her voice angry now. "You promised." She swallows. "Please." Her voice is small now, begging. Selene shakes her head.

"My King and Queen are alive, so I win the bet, Keres. The answer is no." Dread shivers down my spine. I feel Maze go rigid as he holds me close to him. We are thinking the same thing. I can feel it in the matebond. Selene tried to cheat the bet she had with her sister. She was going to keep us here.

"You got to be fucking kidding me!" Amber shouts. I look at her, and she is staring at Maze, who apparently has brought her and her mate up to date on everything. "You can’t say you won the bet when you tried to cheat it." Amber continues, pointing a finger at Selene and growling. Selene snaps her eyes to Amber, they are promising all sorts of bad things, which is why Blaze suddenly pushes Amber behind him.

"You touch one hair on my mate, Goddess of the wolves, and I will end you!" He says, closing his eyes. A bright yellow/orange light temporarily blinds us all, and out steps another Goddess. Damn, how many are there of these creatures?

"King Blaze, you called me?" She asks, looking between everyone in the field. Her eyes dwell on Keres, the man and Selene for a second longer than the rest. "Nevermind, I think I know what is going on." She says, nodding to Blaze and Amber.

"You think you can threaten my Queen and King, Selene?" She asks, her voice filled with the warmth of the sun. Selene narrows her eyes.

"This is none of your business Solaris." She says, but Solaris shakes her head.

"You lost the bet the moment you and Inari tried to keep Queen Kiara and King Maze out of harm’s way. You need to uphold your end of the deal now." She says with finality. Inari snorts.

"Who died and made you the judge to decide." Solaris stares at Inari, and then the Goddess of the foxes disappears from the wildflower field disappears. Selene growls, but Solaris holds up her hands.

"Remember who was the eldest, and the strongest, cousin." She says with a growl of her own.

Selene waves her hands, and another cage appears. She opens it, letting out a man who is almost more handsome than the first. Oh whoa. She reaches a hand out to the one at Keres’s side. He goes to her with reluctant steps, and as he gets to her, they disappear with a pop. As do the two in the background, leaving our group, Solaris, Keres and the man. He runs to Keres, lifts her front he ground and brings her down to kiss her furrowly.

"Get a room." Solaris says with a smile. They laugh.

"Thank you for freeing me." The man says to us, and we bow to him. We know a God when we stand in front of one.

"My love. Narine is dead." Keres whispers, but he just lifts her head and kisses her forehead.

"I know what she did, and I am sad for you, my dark angel, but she deserved what happened to her." Keres looks at all of us. The all consuming darkness that has always followed her, retracts little after little. Her eyes are obsidian back, but the white is returning to both her eyes. She smiles, and it reaches her eyes now.

"Thank you!" She says with sincerity. Then they disappear as well.

"What the fuck just happened?" Amber asks. Solaris laughs.

"Long story, child." She says before explaining Selene’s most dark and embarrassing secret.
