I keep explaining the events that led to this war, and how much Selene had to redeem herself, but she is still our Goddess and we will respect her as such. Something the older generation had a tough time accepting.
We stayed behind and listened to Solaris explain all of this. When she was done, she made sure we came home, and we helped with cleaning. People we had been fighting changed in front of us. Demons were not necessarily evil anymore, and they were finding mates all over the realm. We had reports from ally packs who took people in as they found their mates. They wanted our blessing, which we gladly gave them.
Cleaning after the war took two weeks, and another two with burials and memorials for those who died. We didn’t mourn Magoth or Narine or Mira. I was sad inside that the woman I loved growing up was gone for good, but I was happy she could no longer do any damage to me or Kiara.
Lilith found her second chance mate. It was one of Kiara’s fox guards named Zion. He was so smitten with Lillith, and she with him. They had sought us out, along with Jax and Willow, after everything to get our blessing to their union. All of us gave it without a doubt. Zion was aware who Lillith’s former mate was, and he had asked her endless question about Jasper. When she finally asked him why, he said he also wanted to know who her first mate was, so he could honor him too. Lilith had cried her eyes out in appreciation, and that was time Jax accepted Zion with no apprehension. His brother would not be forgotten.
Kiara and I also started to travel to other packs to show our faces. We needed to unite everyone under our rule, and show them we are serious about all of them. Kiara came to me the first week of cleaning with tears in her eyes. She told me she had discovered she was pregnant. She hadn’t known before, and hadn’t kept track of her heat because of everything going down all the time. But she had suddenly realized it was way overdue and asked the doctor to check her out.
"We are having a little boy." She said, trying to gauge my reaction. First I froze, but after a second I yipped like a puppy and hugged her close. I dipped her and kissed her until we both were out of breath. Mom and dad, having heard my outburst, came running. They laughed when they saw us. We told them on the spot, and my mother jumped up and down with happiness. Dad on the other hand just groaned with a smile.
"Do you know how much money your mother is going to spend on this child?" He asks, teasing mom. She just sticks her tongue out at him.
"You’re just as bad as I am." She accuses, and dad laughed.
We have been keeping up with the checks at the doctor, and Kiara now has a round perky belly to show her pregnancy. Everyone was over the moon for us when we told them, and my sister was just as bad as mom. She kept sending us things, which made Kiara laugh with appreciation. Mom and aunt Sami have been going out and buying stuff, helping with the nursery and keeping Kiara company when I had to go out chasing straggler rogues or help with a violent dispute. We agreed she was to keep her distance from everything where she could get hurt, although she didn’t like it.
We also decided to get married. The human way. I proposed to Kiara in our room, just the two of us. It was a quiet, romantic moment and she said yes, with the one demand that it was going to be small. I promised her, but it proved difficult with all the people in our life now. We decided to have the ceremony in the backyard with the ranked members, mom dad, my uncles and aunts, Lilith and Zion and Amber and her family.
