"And? Maze and I are ready to go back." I say, looking between the two of them.
"You are not the one who has to say go." Jax answers, closing his eyes. A second later Selene pops in and sits down, her face is annoyed and it doesn’t make it better when Inari pops in a second after her and sits down.
"Jax, this really is inappropriate." Selene says with a frown, but Jax just stares at her.
"Really? I think it’s quite fitting. You are stranded here as long as you keep them here, Selene." He says, and now I am almost out of patience.
"Okay, one of you start talking or I swear on my life I will make yours a living hell." I tell all of them, making Maze snort. I give him a vast look, and he shuts up pretty quickly.
"Kiara, you are bound here by them, and they are the only ones who can allow you to leave again. I did the same thing as I am ruler of the underworld, and this field is actually the entrance to my domain. I have the power to bind them here until they are listening to reason." I gape at Jax, trying to follow this complicated explanation without losing my sanity.
"Jax, lose us immediately!" Inari says with a scowl, but he just rolls his eyes.
"I will when you let them leave with us." He answers, raising an eyebrow.
"You know why we can’t do that." Selene sighs, but Jax does not budge. They stare at each other for the longest time, and I just about had it when Willow opens her mouth.
"You are not allowed to interfere in our lives like this Selene, you know that. We have our free will, and right now you have taken that away from my nephew and his mate. That is not okay!" Selene looks so offended I thought she would start screaming, but she sighs again and nods.
"You know why I have to do it this way. They are not to be present in that battle." My head snaps to the Goddess. What the fuck.
"Excuse you?" Maze says, his voice dark with rage, Havoc growls at the Goddess from behind us, equally as angry as Maze. "That decision is not up to you, Selene. Neither you nor Inari. "They want you dead, Maze. They want you and Kiara dead and gone."
"And?" He asks, which actually takes her aback it seems.
"AND?" She asks in a raised voice.
"Yes, and? What fucking else is new around here? You cannot just pull us out. I know you were protecting Lillith for everything she has done for my aunt and uncle so far, and I can respect that. She is not getting any blowback." I snort at this, and Maze gives me a stern look. "She will not!" She says to me, and I just shrug. "But the choice to risk our lives and fight for it is ours!" Selene shakes her head.
"I can’t! You are not to fight in this Maze. I am not risking all that work. All those years of.. No!" I raise an eyebrow.
"Selene, whatever it is you are hiding I do not give two fucks. I will fight you if I have to, to go back, and it will not be pretty. We need to go back. And you need to trust us to lead and fight and live." Selene shoots us a dark and angry look.
"You better survive this or I will make your death a nightmare!" She says, waves her hand and crosses her arms. Inrari actually smiles as she also waves her hands.
"You just made my entire year. Please come back and piss her off some more." She says, looking back at Jax. "Unbind us." Jax just shakes his head.
"I will when they are back."
Both Goddesses snap their fingers, making the ground disappear under me and the next thing I know an incessant beeping sounds in my ear. I can feel the soft bed beneath me, and voices surround me. I force my eyes to open, making someone gasp and yell for someone else. I can’t quite distinct who or what, but then someone leans over me and I recognize Frida who has tears in her eyes.
"Kiara?! Kiara, can you hear me?" She asks, and I nod with a groan.
"Yes. Where am I?" I ask just as she punches my arm only to hug me tight.
"Hospital. I thought we lost you. You scared the shit out of me." I smile into her shoulder.
"Sorry. How is Maze?" Someone runs into my room, makes a sound like a wounded rhino and I’m engulfed in another bone crushing hug. frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓
"He is awake and asking for you." Abigail says when she lets me go. I look between them. I’m home. The feeling is incredible.
’We need to get up. They are coming.’ Winter says in my mind, and I tell Abby and Frida to help me to Mazes room. We have been out for 2 days, but I am not going to let that stop me! The final battle is approaching, and I have a score to settle with a certain woman.
