Chapter 282: Chapter 282 Visitors

Kiara

I don’t even know how long I just sit there and sob into Maze’s shirts, but it’s absolutely drenched when I finally am able to stop the flow of tears and snot. I scared myself with how much I needed this cry, and how many feelings I had to get out. This is just too much. What the hell are we supposed to do here in a freaking Wildflower field? We’re supposed to be these strong and badass leaders of not only one, but two! factions of people, and now we are captured here. I feel incredibly bad for those who have to step up because we can’t. Those who are forced to make difficult decisions because we are not there. Maze keeps stroking my back in circles, his nose in my hair and mumbling quiet nonsense I can’t even hear properly. He is such a sweet and caring mate, and now I’ve dragged him into this utter mess.

"Don’t do that to yourself, baby." He says, lifting his head from my hair and looking at me. I swallow. ƒreewebηoveℓ.com

"Do what?" I ask, my voice hoarse. I could use some water for my throat, and I barely thought about it before two cold water bottles appeared beside us. Well, that’s a neat party trick if I ever saw one. I open one of them and take a gulp to help my aching throat.

"Don’t blame yourself for everything, or even think for a second that this wouldn’t have happened had we not been mated. This is not your fault, Kiara!" I just narrow my eyes.

"How did you know I was thinking that?" I ask, and he shrugs.

"I don’t know, but I could feel that was what was going on, and you are not to blame baby! Those who strive for our lives are." I look down, feeling slightly ashamed, which he then tells me to stop as well. What the heck is happening?

’Our mate bond is merging.’ Winter says in my mind, and I just feel completely lost.

’What does that mean?’ I ask her, and she tells me to close my eyes and think of Maz, which I do and then my eyes snaps open.

"If I can’t blame myself, then you can’t either! You didn’t know Mira was alive when we met, and you were still mourning her. We are in this together." I tell him, and he just stares at me. I explain what Winter said with a shrug.

We cuddle for some time in silence again, both of us lost in our own thoughts. Suddenly the aura of the field changes and I look up from where my head has been resting on Maze. He feels it too and in a second we are both on our feet, Havoc and Winter as well. Figures are running to us, and we prepare ourselves for the impact of having to fight someone, but when they get closer we see they are not enemies. Maze eyes are wide as he takes in his aunt and uncle.

"What are you doing here?" He asks, and Willow, who has now tackled him to the ground and is pounding on his arms, just ignores his question while still raining down on him. I look at Jax in question, and he shakes his head. I eye Havoc and Winter, they are staring at the scenario on the ground. I mindlink them to let them be and let us handle it, but they say they will but not for long.

"We might do something before they do." I tell Jax, pointing to the wolf and fox, staring intently on the brawl on the ground.

"That’s enough Willow." His deep voice cuts through Maze’s attempts to talk some sense into his raging aunt. Willow doesn’t stop, so Jax picks her up and drags her away from her nephew. He is also eyeing the animals, knowing they do not care if you are friend or foe, if you attack their counterpart/mate when they are not in our bodies, they can be a real danger.

Willow’s eyes are red and puffy and she is deep red in the face from anger and worry.

"WHAT THE FUCK!" She screams at us, but I feel more sorry for her than anger. I gesture for Jax to let her go, and then I throw my arms around her and pull her into a tight hug. She fights me, but I am not letting her go. Then she cries on my shoulder for a moment, and gently shoves me off her.

"Better?" I ask her and she nods quietly, before plopping down on the field’s ground. We follow her lead, Winter and Havoc slower than the rest of us, still not sure if she is going to attack again or not. They seem satisfied when Jax pulls Willow close and keeps his arm around her, and they finally lay all the way down and relax.

"What are you doing here?" Maze asks again, and Jax sighs.

"We would have been here earlier, but we needed to make sure what was happening and if you were really here or not." Maze gives him a confused look. "Well, what do you know?" He asks, clearly not wanting to go over things we already know and jump right to where we are lost. frёeweɓηovel.coɱ

Maze explains what Selene told us, and that is not much. Willow snorts, looking away from us. I cock my head to the side. Something is off.

"What is going on?" I ask, and Jax sighs again. "We are going to be attacked by nightfall, and we need you two to come with us back home." I raise my eyebrows. We would love to do that, but I am not sure if we can.
