Chapter 230: Chapter 230 Working Together As A Team
Kiara
I know Maze is more hurt by his uncle and aunt’s decision to leave the pack, but I also know he understands where they are coming from. As do I. Mom and dad would have left their pack if they had any chance to do it after how everyone treated me. But that was not an option, and I understand why they stayed. I just hope Brandon and Morgan find what they are searching for, and come back one day.
After hugging him for a couple of minutes, he kisses my hair and breaks the hug. His eyes are still sad, but there’s also a kind of determination in them. freeweɓnovel.cѳm
"Are you okay, babe?" I ask, kissing his jaw. He smiles down at me.
"Yeah. I’m really sad to see them go, and I know mom is going to cut a bitch when she hears about it, but this is their choice and their right. I will not hold them back when they need to be elsewhere."
"Well, maybe they’ll come back?" He shrugs.
"Maybe, but it’s not our problem. We need to help Ryan and James." I’m proud of him! He’s grown so much since I first met him, and even though we still have a long way to go, we have also become closer in such a short time. He keeps working on things, and for that I’m grateful.
Maze takes me back to his office where Ryan and James are waiting. We need to help them and discuss what we are going to do with our prisoner. The day has gone by fast, and it’s almost dinner time, and I so badly want to invite Ryan and James to eat with us, but I’m not sure how to ask Maze if we can do that? I keep thinking of a way to broach the topic as we enter the office where they are waiting. Amber is there as well as her mate, speaking to Ryan and James.
"Ah, there you two are. We just spoke to Ryan and James about dinner, and seeing as we are going home tomorrow morning..."
"I thought you went home this morning?" Maze asks in surprise to see them there. Amber laughs. freewёbnoνel.com
"And rob you of the opportunity to say hi to your nephew and niece?" I look between them, but Maze just chuckles.
"So it was Chase and the kids I felt earlier?" I furrow my eyebrows, thinking back to when we were talking earlier. Maze suddenly went quiet, as if he was listening to something far away, but then he shrugged and kept talking. I didn’t even question it because he seemed fine afterwards.
"It was. I’m surprised you didn’t come running immediately, but I figured you and Kiara were working on some things." Maze nods, sitting down in his desk chair, and pulling me down to sit on him.
"What did you say about dinner, sis?" Maze asks, and Amber smiles.
"I invited Kiara’s friends to join us. They came in here while I was waiting for you and said they had been sent here to wait as well." Maze nods.
"That’s an amazing idea. I have a feeling Kiara wanted to do the same, right baby?" He looks at me, and I blush. Does he just see right through me?
"I didn’t know if you would be mad." I mumble and he kisses my cheek.
"I’ll never be mad at you for wanting to accommodate your friends - our friends." Ryan and James look like Maze just grew three heads, and I can’t help the giggle. It helps a lot when I hear Amber laughing out right.
"We’re honored Alpha, but shouldn’t you have more... Fitting friends?" James asks, his voice trembling a little. Maze shrugs.
"I need friends I can count on and trust. My Beta’s and Gamma’s are my best friends, but they are also my second and third in command. We need new blood in our friendship group. But only if you will call me Maze. I know Kiara already cut the title as well, so I might just follow her example." Both guys’ jaws fall to the floor in surprise.
"Just accept and say thank you." I tell them, and they do. Maze nods with a smile and the happiness almost oozes from him in big loads.
Amber stands up, saying she’ll give us space to work on what we need to do and that dinner will be in an hour. That should be enough time to help the guys.
"When are you leaving tomorrow, sis?" Maze asks before she is out the door.
"Right after breakfast, why?"
"We are executing Mason in the morning, and I wanted you to be there." She looks at me, and I nod. The relief course through me, although I do not want anyone to die, he deserves what he gets.
"Alright, I’ll be there. See you in an hour." He leaves the office and leaves us to do what we need to do.
"Sorry about that." Maze says to the guys, but they both wave their hands.
"No need, Alpha...Uhm, Maze." Ryan answers, looking so unsure with calling his Alpha by his name.
"So, we need to get you two set up properly, and we need to make sure all the things your parents got rid of are replaced. We’ll need you to make a list of things. If something is brand specific just write it down. Tomorrow we’ll go shopping." I turn to look at Maze.
"Shopping?" He laughs and kisses my nose.
"Yes, I’ll let you, my sweet Luna, shop to your heart consent. If you want something for yourself, just get it." He slides over a notepad and a pen to Ryan, who gets started immediately.
"You’re not coming?" I ask a bit disappointed.
"Of course I’m coming. I’m just telling you up front. Which reminds me." He reach down to a drawer, open it and take out an envelope. "This is for you. I had it made before we went down the wrong path, and I wanted to wait until we were on the right one again to give it to you. I didn’t want you to think something bad about me." My eyebrows rise at his words, and curiously I open the envelope. Inside is a black shining credit card.
"Maze..."
