"It’s linked to my personal account, which is now ours. There is no limit and I don’t care how much you spent! You are my Luna and my mate, and I will not have you miss things. Buy whatever you want, baby." I look at the credit card again.
"But I have my own money."
"Save them for something else. This is yours, and I expect you to use it!" I smile, as Ryan slides the notepad back. Maze takes it, and we read it together. I narrow my eyes.
"Ryan, why did you give us an incomplete list?" I ask, wondering if he is trying to be humble?
"Incomplete, Kiara?" I gesture to the list.
"Socks, underwear, shirts, pants, backpack, laptop (very old), hairbrush, shampoo." I read off the list. "That can’t be all?!" He shrugs.
"I didn’t have much, Luna. All my valuable things are with James - my watch from my grandpa and my necklace from James." I stare at him.
"But...The laptop. What was it?"
"Uhm, something my dad got second hand. It was very old, and the charger didn’t work anymore. I mostly wanted the pictures I had there and the camera, but.. Oh, I forgot the camera."
"Was it expensive?"
"No, it was free from an old school friend. She didn’t use it, so she gave it to me knowing my love for photography."
"Luna, Ryan comes from a horrible home. Sorry honey. His parents used their money on themselves, and the essentials for their son. I have tried to buy him things, but he always refuses and tells me to spend them on myself because he is not worth it." The anger swells up inside of me! How fucking dare they! "They also took most of what Ryan earned - to pay house rent. Even though he hasn’t lived there for a while. They would harass him until he paid them."
"Is this true, Ryan?" Maze asks in a deadly calm voice. Ryan nods with tears in his eyes.
"I’m afraid so." He mumbles, and I just want to hug him. Luckily James does, and Ryan leans on his mate.
"And you didn’t come to me because I have been a horrible Alpha. Hmm. James, what do you do for a living?" James smiles. fɾeeweɓnѳveɭ.com
"I work as a personal assistant in town, Alpha Maze." He answers, and Maze looks at me. I know what he is thinking.
"What would you say to be my personal assistant, James?" I ask, making him gape at me.
"Yours, Luna?" I raise an eyebrow. "Uhm, Kiara." He corrects and I smile and nod. "I would be absolutely honored. But wouldn’t you need someone more suited?"
"Who is more suited than the guy who has the experience?" I ask, and he nods to himself. "Alright, that settled then. Ryan, we want to hire you as the pack’s official photographer. You’ll need to cover all major events - school plays, birthdays, weddings etc. I’m also setting up a website for you to work on, so we can promote our pack. Besides, we’ll need your input on pack matters. You and James know the pack and what goes on where. We’ll need your help bringing in the people." They both nod, and Ryan looks like someone who is about to faint.
"Thank you - both of you!" They reply together.
"Do you have a house on the pack grounds?" Maze asks, and they shake their heads.
"We weren’t out, so James got an apartment in the city. We commute everyday." Maze nods with a thoughtful expression.
"That’s silly. We’ll get you a room here in the pack house or one of the smaller houses since you are just two for now." Maze concludes, and they guys look at each other with wide happy eyes.
"Thank you so much, Alpha Maze." James answers, but Maze is already on the move. He made me stand, so he could get to the cabinet in his office where he takes out a folder. As he looks them over there is a knock on the door. He calls out and five guys walk in.
"Maze, you mind-linked us. Whoa." One of them says, and Maze rolls his eyes.
"Yeah, I wanted you to meet James and Ryan. They are mates and James just became Kiara’s personal assistant, while Ryan is going to work for me and the pack." The fave newcomers nod.
"Well, we haven’t introduced ourselves properly to the Luna - I’m Joram and this is my brothers Jasper and Jon. We are triplets and the Gammas. Welcome Luna, and I’m sorry it’s been so long before we could meet in person." I smile at them. They seem very polite and sweet.
"Thank you Joram. It’s a pleasure to meet you officially!" The other two are the Beta twins, and those two I have met although Kristian feels the need to present themselves to me again, probably not wanting to be bested by the triplets. Maze finds a two bedroom cottage just besides the pack house which is vacant. He tells Ryan and James it’s a present from me and him, which the guys don’t know what to say to. They keep thanking us, but Maze says it’s not necessary.
Maze also brings his ranked members up to speed on what has happened, and they all agree in the execution of Mason, especially with my father basically giving Maze permission.
The guys are also going to go with us tomorrow. They are going to be my personal guards for now, alternating between guard duty and pack work. I think it’s ridiculous, but Maze is instant, and I relent knowing it’ll give him peace of mind.
Lastly we place an order on the pack card for furniture to the cottage, and plan for it to be delivered tomorrow afternoon. That gives us time to do our thing in the morning, shopping and coming back in time.
Just before we go down to dinner, Maze mind-links the entire pack. He tells them he is back, and he will be more out in the pack and visible. He tells them about me, and that we are planning the Luna ceremony. Which means we’ll have to mate and mark each other soon as well. It gives me butterflies in my stomach, but in a good kind of way. I want this, and today has shown me more than ever how much he is willing to change for this to work. We have made huge steps in the right direction today!
