’If you hadn’t fucking jumped to conclusion like an idiot, this would have never happened in the first place, dude.’ Havoc snorts, and I ignore him. Mira walks up beside the man, laughing like a maniac and Havoc is about two seconds from jumping her and killing her ass, when the man asks who is in charge. A small portion of my mind is wondering how the hell she came out here! Last I saw of her, she was being dragged to the cellar by my Beta’s. I do not hope something happened to them? I run behind a tree, shift, put on some shorts and walk out again, but not before I mind-link Amber about Mira and ask her to contact our parents and find out what happened.
"I am." I answer calmly. The man laughs at my answer, but I need to stay calm. Kiara will be killed because of me if I do not keep my cool. Havoc is livid and wants to tear the man to pieces, but we can’t rush into this. Everything that has gone wrong is because I rushed into it with guns blazing. I notice the triplets are not to be seen anywhere, and this gives me comfort. They are somewhere near us, lurking and waiting for their opportunity. This gives me the upper hand. For now.
’Maze!’ Kiara mind-links me, and the relief feeling her in my mind again after so long not speaking cannot be described with words! I close my eyes, pretending the sight of her is too much for me.
’Kiara, thank the Goddess! I am so sorry, baby. I will make this right! We just need you home safe.’
’You still want me as your mate?’

’Oh! I didn’t think you did.. Oh well. Winter says we need a few minutes before we can shift. I’ll let you know.’ The exchange doesn’t take more than a few seconds, but it leaves my heart shattered. She didn’t think I wanted her. Well, why would she think I wanted her? I have treated her horribly. I sigh before opening my eyes again. They zoom in on the scene before my eyes.
"Who are you? I ask, crossing my arms and pretending to ignore Kiara. This rises and falls with them thinking I do not care about her as much as I do.
"My name, Wolf King, is Magoth." He bows his head, but I just lift an eyebrow.
"And I should know who that is?" I ask, sincerely confused now. Mira sneers.
"He is the real King of our realm, Maze." She says, putting her hand on the man’s arm. The man, Magoth, turned his ice gaze on her, before returning it on me.
"We seem to have a small dispute to handle here, Wolf King." He says, pressing the knife further into Kiara’s throat. She doesn’t make a sound, which he commends. Mira looks livid at the compliment, and something occurs to me.
"You are his lover." I say to her, smirking a bit. "Seems like you may be old news now. Again." Mira screams profanities at me.
"SHE IS NOTHING! NOT TO HIM, NOT TO YOU! SHE IS JUST SOME LOWLIFE SCUM. A FORBIDDEN BITCH!"
"Then why does it seem that every man desires her, Mira? Maybe it’s not really her, but you that is the problem." Mira throws a tantrum, moving for the knife, but Magoth beats her on her ass. I smirk again.
"So, Magoth. What do you want? The girl? Take her. I do not care." I make a dismissive wave with my hand, making a move to turn around. Amber shouts at me in pure anger. She can’t believe her eyes, and plays right into my scheme. freёweɓnovel.com
"I don’t want the girl, Wolf King." Magoth says, and I turn again with a surprised look.
"Oh?! Sure looks like it."
"I want your title, and your people to suffer. My people will thrive again, but I wanted to see my opponent up front. You are nothing special. I do not understand why my Goddess fears you so much." I raise an eyebrow.
"You Goddess?"
"Keres, of course." I nod. He’s a demon. Good to know.
"Well, if you don’t want the girl, how about letting her go?" I ask, gesturing for the knife. Magoth laughs.
"You think me a fool, Wolf King? I know how much this precious girl means to you. I don’t want her. But my men will find her a fine prize to share. I think I am keeping her. If not for anything else, then to make sure you don’t do anything stupid." Havoc is not having his mate taken again, and he is pushing more than ever to be let out, but I catch Kiara’s eyes. The stalling worked, and she winked.
"A fool? Perhaps. Ignorant, idiotic and having underestimated your opponent? Most definitely. It’s not me you need to worry about. It’s her!" He slacks on the knife, confused by my words, enough for Kiara to shift. Her fox is just as magnificent as she was in the office, but now she is pissed! She kicks her hind legs out, landing her kick in Magoth’s stomach and throwing him several feet. Mira jumps to her feet, throwing herself towards the knife, but Winter is too fast for her. She catches Mira by the scruff of her neck, dragging her ass back to me and the others. Magoth is on his feet again with a growl. Winter lets go of Mira, turning to Magoth. He runs towards her, and she does the same. One of her tails glows, and suddenly she’s gone from the naked eye. She turns up behind Magoth, grabbing him in the arm and biting down. Another tail glows as she does that, and the demon howls in agony. Winter throws him again, and jumps him while he is down. She growls in his face, and I walk up to them.
"I told you, you were underestimating her." I say, laying a hand on my mate’s red fur. She doesn’t let up, her teeth bared at our enemy. Magoth raises his arms, wincing as he does.
"I surrender." He says, and I tell him to stay away from me, my mate, our pack and our people. He nods, and I tell Winter to leave him. We need to get home.
