The people around me are divided. Some are standing with the redhead I remember from my school days - Julia. And others are standing with Mason. They are growling at each other. Seems like his henchmen are not in agreement of the mission at hand.
"We are taking Kiara back now. She is not your toy! Not yours, and not that crazy bitch’s either. She is probably actually the mate to Alpha. Am I right?" Julia asks with a growl, and Mason jumps her. He doesn’t get to lay a punch on her, before she has him thrown off. She is strong. "I take that as a yes. You are unbelievable, Mason! Alpha Benjamin is going to revoke your Beta title for good this time. And rightfully so." She says, and I am very intrigued by this.
I am contemplating what to do when the area is surrounded by growling wolves and a dragon. A fucking dragon! I have opened both eyes, but slowly moved my head so my hair covers them. No one can see I am looking. The dragon huffs, blue smoke coming out of its nose as it walks up to Mason. It is looking straight at him, and he is looking very pale all of a sudden. I recognize one of the wolves and everything in me buzzes with brief excitement. Then I wonder. Why is he here? Did he come to rescue me or to reject me and send me along with these people?
I decided to stop all pretenses and sit up slowly. The movement makes me dizzy. I guess not all of the drugs are out of my system yet. Winter is whining in my mind at the sight of our mate’s wolf, but before she can get too excited everything explodes into movement, screams and bloodshed.
I try to get to my feet, but my legs do not know how to bear my weight yet. People are attacking my pack members and the dragon, all the while I watch how Mason the coward makes a run for me. He is tackled by a large female wolf. She is spectacular, and I am in awe of her strength. I know this must be Amber. Her wolf is famous, as are her powers. Mason growls at the wolf, which sets off the dragon. It stomps to where Amber’s wolf is and roars in Mason’s face. The scene is comical, but it doesn’t last because at that moment I feel someone grab me from behind and press something very sharp at my throat. Everyone stops fighting at the sight of me being yanked to my feet. My legs are wobbly, but the person behind me keeps me upright. A woman behind me laughs manically, and I recognize that voice. Mira Rose. She is not the one holding the knife, but she could as well be.
"Who is in charge here?" A deep male voice asks close to my ear. Chills run down my spine. The voice is ice cold and menacing. Maze comes out from behind a tree only in a pair of shorts. frёewebηovel.cѳm
"I am." He says and the male with the knife laughs. Winter growls in my head.
’Just a few more minutes and we are at 100%, Kiara. We can take him down, just shift when I say the word!’ Winter says, her voice thick with concentration.
Maze
FUCK! They have taken her farther away from the pack than I anticipated. Havoc is rounding up the earth beneath our paws as he plunges forward through the forest! We can see Blaze’s dragon up ahead in the sky, and he keeps sending information through Amber. The triplets gathered a group of warriors, making sure we have more border guards in place, and informed my parents as well.
I know I am lucky with my fellow ranked wolves, but the triples are handy for sure. They get so much done because they are basically one individual in three bodies. They know what the others are doing, and cover so much in less time. They are some of our best fighters and trackers as well.
’Alpha, we got something.’ Joram, the eldest of the triplets, mind-links me.
’What is it, Joram?’
’Tracks - only a couple of minutes old. We are on the right path.’ Havoc nod, and we trot on. I keep trying to reach Kiara via mind-link, but whatever they gave her made her unable to mind-link me. Well, of course it does if she is unconscious, but she can’t still be that. Can she? I am not going there. I won’t! She needs to be alive, conscious and not hurt.
’Maze! We found them. Kiara is laying on the ground. She seems to be still out from whatever they gave her.’ Amber links a second later. Everything inside me feels electric. Hold on, baby! I am coming for you!
Entering the area, Blaze crashes down from the sky and lands on the forest bed. He knows who Mason is from Amber, and when she tackles him as everything turns to utter chaos, and he growls at her, Blaze is there in a blink of an eye. No one as much as looks at his mate funny before he is in their face about it. I need to learn from him! This is how you treat your mate right! You treat her as a Queen! Period! I need to remember this!
Suddenly I feel a surge of fear run through my veins, and I know it’s not my fear. I look up in time to see someone grab Kiara and yank her to her feet. He is pressing a knife to her throat, and if Mason’s cronies hadn’t kept me engaged in fighting, I could have been with her and kept her safe.
