Amber’s POV
As I wake up the next morning, Chase and Blaze are nowhere to be seen. I sit up abruptly, looking around the room in utter confusion. Where the hell are they, and why have they just abandoned me here alone? Wait, I’m alone. Completely alone. Where are my babies? Ignis is stirring in my mind, feeling my worry. I close my eyes, taking in a deep breath, trying to calm myself. There has to be a perfectly acceptable reason why my mates, my husbands and my children are missing.
’Chase, Blaze? Where are you guys, and where are my babies?’ I mind-link them, waiting rather impatiently for their reply. When there is nothing, I feel the panic set in again. Why aren’t they answering? Who has them? Are they hurt, dead or kidnapped? Oh my goodness, what is Callus is not really dead and got to them during the night. Or Keres? She is the only one who would be crafty enough to get in here without alerting the guard, me or the guys. Do they have my babies as well? I jump out of bed, just as the door opens and Chase, Blaze and the girls walk in with a tray each. I look at them in confusion, before realizing they have been making breakfast together as a surprise. I blush a little, jumping to the wrong conclusion immediately. But I do notice they don’t have Callum and Ashilia with them?
"Good morning wife." Chase says with a small smile, kissing my cheek. "The babies are with their aunts, who insisted on us having this morning together with just the five of us." I nod, sighing.
"It looks so yummy, thank you! But what if they are hungry?" I ask in worry, but Blaze chuckles.
"They are giving them the milk you pumped last night. Come on, little wolf. These girls really made an effort to make you your favorites." I smile at Melody and Elina, who are looking worried for some reason. Then I would have slapped myself. They have been working hard on this surprise, and all I’ve asked about are their baby siblings. I kneel down, wrapping an arm around each girl, kissing their cheeks.
"This looks absolutely perfect! Thank you so much for the surprise, sweeties. Are we going to sit here? Just us?" They both nod, Elina taking my hand and leading me to the couch.
"We made you pancakes, mommy." She says in her adorable voice, looking at me with anticipation and happiness oozing from her. I laugh.
"I see that! Did daddy and papa help you?" I ask with a smirk at my mates, and they girls giggle.
"We have only helped with whatever they let us. They wanted to do this on their own for the most part." Chase says, and I know what he means. He and Blaze have operated the heavy things and the warm things, such as the pan for the pancakes etc. fɾeewebnoveℓ.co๓
"Thank you for this, girls. I love it!" They both smile, sitting down on either side of me, tucking into their own plate filled with pancakes, eggs, bacon, sausage and toast. One of the trays has cut fruit in a variation, so everyone has something they like.
They guys sit down in a chair each, both looking at me and the girls with absolute love, smiling when I praise them again and again about how good the food tastes! I must admit, it is damn good and I am so so proud of them. But one thing is still worrying me, and I know I’ll have to address it before I go nuts.
"So, whose idea was it to be just us?" I ask casually, but then the look Blaze gives me tells me he is on to me. I roll my eyes at him, and he sends me a grin.
"It was Glaciel and Merida’s. They heard Callum and Ashilia in the kitchen with us, and came in to steal them. They said we needed some quality time just for us." Chase answers, apparently not realizing there was more to my question.
’The girls tried to talk them into giving Callum and Ashilia back when we were done cooking, wanting to include their siblings. Their aunts didn’t listen.’ Blaze mind-links me with a smile, and I nod.
We talk, eat and laugh. Enjoying being together and having this down time, before the work starts up again. We need to make the travels through the Kingdom, showing ourselves to our people. Making sure they know who we are, what we stand for and rectify whatever troubles Callus got up too. We know the magic part of the population is still hiding in some parts of the Kingdom, and we need them to come forth once again. Making sure they are protected by law and by us, to be able to practice openly once again. We already sent delegations out to the areas where we know for sure - the South and East being the worst. They have been haunted for generations, Callus’s father being the one to start the mistrust between regular people, magic and the Royals at the time.
"Momma, may we come with you on the trip?" Melody asks, her eyes wide. I look at my husbands, who both shrug. I know we have to bring the little ones, and it wouldn’t exactly be fair to exclude the girls.
"Yes you may, if you behave and be good to your nannies and teachers. You will still be learning everyday, even though we are traveling. Understood?" They both nod solemnly and hug me tight.
"Thank you! Daddy and papa said we had to ask you, because they didn’t want to say yes if you said no." I smirk at the guys.
"They did, did they?" I say with surprise, and both Chase and Blaze chuckle while rubbing their necks. I roll my eyes at them again, knowing they only said that because they didn’t want to make that decision and then have to argue with me about it. Silly men.
"Well, thank you for the delicious breakfast, but you need to get ready for your lessons now and we’ll start packing this afternoon. We have to go within the week to make sure we are on schedule." I tell the girls, who kiss my cheeks and their father’s before hurrying into their own room. They are getting so big, and we always pick the next day’s outfit the night before, so they can get ready themselves and feel independent.
’Alright you two, bring back my babies right this instant!’ I mind-link Glaciel and Merida who laugh and promise to be on their way.
