Chapter 169: Chapter 169 Filling in the Pieces

Amber’s POV

It’s been four days since the battle of the Dragon Lands and we have yet to get all the casualties in. We have lost a great deal of good people, and we will forever be grateful to them for fighting on the side of change and freedom.

I’ve been going between my mother, Chase, Ezra and the girls, not forgetting to show Blaze attention as well, and being Queen. It’s honestly been exhausting, but at the same time reassuring in a sense. Now I know I can handle much more than I ever thought before.

The girls have almost not been away from their father, only to help with the healing of the other wounded. They put my mother into an enchanted sleep, with my small help, so she and Galaxy can rest properly. She drained herself almost completely trying to take down Ezekiel, who we have in a magical cell down in the cellar. It is protected from the divine, as well as everyone else except for me and Blaze. No one can get in or out without us present. Something we deemed necessary after the last failed attempt to keep high priority prisoners under lock and key.

We discovered, when Chase fell from the heavens a great number of things; one being my brother is a wind elemental. Who would have thought. Certainly not me, and especially not himself, but he told me an elemental called Ventus came to him during the battle and told him to keep Ezekiel locked in wind chains. That he can manipulate, speak and control wind.

The second thing we discovered was the girls had abilities in healing. Strong abilities as it seems. They have been helping the castle’s own doctors.

This morning Chase finally woke up. He was confused, and probably thought he was dead, which is kind of funny because then he would have thought I followed him into the death realm as well, and he would have been crossed. Well, I didn’t. But I did promise him to tell everything that happened after he went unconscious. ƒгeeweɓn૦vel.com

"My Queen." A castle servant bows. "Your esteemed mother is awake and asking for you. The same for the King." He says before bowing again and walking away. I finished the paperwork I was working on, mind linked Blaze to meet me at the dining room, turned lazaret, so we can get this over with. He’s the best to tell what exactly happened in the air, seeing as I was occupied elsewhere on the ground.

We walk into the room together, all the others gathered around mom’s and Chase’s beds. They were by far the most wounded of our family. They both look up, as Blaze gets me a chair. I wave at it, and sit on the side of Chase’s bed.

"So, are you all ready to be filled in?" I ask, and everyone goes quiet immediately. Melody and Elina crawl into Blaze’s lap, looking at me with big eyes. They seem tired, and I know especially Elina has overdone herself again. She will probably be asleep in a minute.

"I am not entirely sure what happened in the sky, but Blaze will fill you in on that part. And as I was not there, Tristan and Ezra will fill you in on what happened back here. I understand a new wave of attacks came when they had lured all the reigning Royals away?" Tristan, Ezra and Merida nod. Merida strokes her not yet healed wounds. frёewebηovel.cѳm

"When the King and Prince flew to go aid you, My Queen, we thought the worst on our end was over. But it was far from it. King Oron, Daron and Mesus fought bravely. Unfortunately we lost King Mesus and Daron in the battle. They took out many enemies before they were killed themselves. King Mesus saved my life, and the life of Ezra. He’s lucky to only lose the sight on his one eye." Ezra nods, and everyone bows their heads in respect of our fallen friends. King Mesus may not have been very keen on the changes we were about to bring on, but he was an honorable man.

"Princess Merida joined the battle outside, saying your daughters had suddenly disappeared, and Miss. Glaciel was going to look for them. We didn’t know what had happened to either of them, or my mate, before the end of the battle. Outside the enemy brought giant earth walking krankens. Princess Merida fought bravely alongside our men. Many joined from all over the Kingdom, flying in to aid us when they got news of what was happening." Tristan looks at me, and I nod.

"Thank you Tristan. We are grateful for every man and woman who joined us and sacrificed themselves in this time of great need. They will not be forgotten, trust me." I sigh, before continuing.

"After Chase fell to the ground we found out Maze is a wind elemental, and he managed to slow Chase down so he landed more softly. Then out of nowhere Melody and Elina came running to their dad, and they started to heal him. Right there on the battlefield. Maze and I, still in wolf form, protected the girls as best as we could, but the enemy kept coming. Then all of a sudden; they disappeared." I shake my head, still not quite understanding what happened.

"You don’t remember?" Maze asks, surprised, and I shake my head. "When the girls started healing Chase, and it was obvious he would survive, Ignis howled to the moon and the moon responded. Suddenly she was bathed in moonlight, shining like pure liquid silver, and then an explosion obliviated every demon and dark creature on the battlefield." Maze raises an eyebrow.

"So, that’s what happened." Tristan says, while Ezra whistles. When everyone else just looks at them, Merida clears her throat.

"We were being swarmed by demons, krakens and whatnot. Everything seemed to have turned to their advantage and people were barely able to fight one enemy before the next were there to take over. Then suddenly a bright silver light swept over the grounds, and every enemy was turned to dust." I can’t remember any of this? Why can’t I remember? Mom takes my hand, and squeezes in reassurance.

"When the goddess uses you as a tool, you will not remember afterwards." She says, and I know she knows what she’s talking about. Fucking Selene. Well, this time I guess I don’t care so much because she helped us.

’Don’t make it a habit, Selene.’ I say quietly.

’You asked for my help, child. Remember that.’ She answers back in a snarky voice filled with amusement and irritation.

I roll my eyes internally, before looking at Blaze to continue.

"Well, I was fighting Callus and that inbred son of his - did you know he had a son with his sister, Rose? Yeah, I didn’t think so. Well, he did. So, I was fighting them and the silver light blinded Callus enough for me to get a good slice in his throat. And then I went for the killing blow. I managed to rip out a good chunk, so much so he couldn’t heal. He fell from the sky and through the trees." Tristan raises a hand.

"We found him, and burned him on the first day of cleaning." He says, and the group takes a collective breath. "But we didn’t find your half-brother." He then says, and the tension is back again.

"That’s because Elina and I sent him to the shadowlands. We will die there, alone and weaken." Melody pipes up. She opens one eye and smiles at our stunned faces. The group laughs, and we keep talking amongst ourselves until the nurses practically throws me, Blaze and the girls out for the patients to rest.
