Chapter 62: Misho and Maia Against A Wolf Pack
"Yes!"
Misho threw her his extra spear, and she caught it. Maia then pointed it at the wolves.
"What are the two of you doing?!" Mad shouted in disbelief.
Misho and Maia stood close together while they kept their stance. They didn’t bother to reply to the duo. It was better for them to show instead of convincing them.
"Maia, throw a Fireball to our left," Misho ordered.
"Got it. Fireball!"
A ball of fire appeared on Maia’s hand, and she threw it in front of MadPolygon and TonkotsuRamen. This would prevent the other wolves from attacking the two while they deal with the wolves in front of them.
"Two against one!" Misho shouted.
Maia understood what he meant, and they both picked the rightmost wolf. This wolf was prepared, and it swiped its paws horizontally.
Misho and Maia jumped back to avoid it.
"To your left, Misho!" Maia warned.
Misho held his spear horizontally with two hands, stopping the incoming paw attack from hitting him. He was pushed slightly backward.
"Nice!"
Misho’s confidence increased after successfully winning against the wolf. He also realized he was much stronger than these wolves.
"Maia, I will parry it if it swipes its paws!" Misho shouted.
"Yes!"
Misho and Maia moved in to the rightmost wolf together. This wolf was the closest to them both.
The wolf saw that they were both coming. Instead of using its paw to attack, it dashed towards Misho and opened its mouth wide. Its powerful fangs dripped with saliva as it headed for him.
"Ahhhhh!"
Misho went all or nothing. He swung his spear upwards toward the mouth of the wolf.
Maia saw her chance and went for a stabbing attack. She used all of her leg strength and pushed herself forward.
*THRUSH*
The sound of the metal spear tearing through flesh resounded loudly. Maia was able to pierce its chest.
Misho’s all-or-nothing move proved to work fantastically. Since he was an Essence Sea-stage cultivator, he was able to overpower the weaker wolf.
Maia pulled her spear, and blood spurted out of the wound. The wolf was still alive, but it weaklessly dropped to the ground.
"Next one!"
Misho’s hair was tingling as he could hear a wolf close behind to his left.
Misho swung his spear horizontally to meet the rapidly approaching wolf.
"There’s another one!" Misho shouted as he turned back.
His spear hit the first wolf, but one more was approaching him.
"Misho!!!"
Maia arched backward while holding the spear straight and launched herself forward. She let go of the spear and let it fly to the second wolf. ƒrēewebnovel.com
The second wolf was midair as Maia’s spear stabbed it at its chest. It fell to the ground, still alive but too weak to move.
Misho took a step back after parrying the paw attack. His fingers started hurting after all of the force he had been putting on the spear.
The wolf wasn’t about to give Misho the chance to rest. It dashed forward and closed in on Misho. At this range, Misho would find it hard to use his spear.
"AHHHHHH!!!"
With a warcry, Misho swung his spear horizontally to the wolf. He would rather die with the wolf than let it kill him. This was just a game anyway.
*AWOO!*
The wolf cried as the spear tip slashed the side of its abdomen. Because of the pain, it quickly lost control of its balance and skidded through the ground just a few inches to Misho’s right.
Misho was surprised at his strength once again. Everything felt so easy because of his cultivation.
"Misho, don’t lose focus!" Maia reminded.
Misho looked toward the two other wolves and raised his spear in a stance.
The two wolves were stunned at the quick speed Misho and Maia dispatched their three other pack members. As wolves of the wild, they became cautious and didn’t immediately attack again.
"Wow!"
"Hidden masters!"
Both MadPolygon and TonkotsuRamen were shocked beyond their minds. They never heard a blip from the two about their cultivations. Seeing them in action was very cool.
Maia slowly approached Misho’s side and pulled her spear from the wolf. Once there, she glanced at him.
"Are you okay?" Maia asked.
"Of course," Misho confidently replied.
"Should we attack?" Maia asked.
She wasn’t sure if they should. She had no experience fighting wild animals before.
"It’d be very hard now that they are both on their guard. Let’s wait and see. Take this chance to rest," Misho replied.
The two of them never took their eyes away from the two wolves. The two wolves did the same. The four came to a mutual understanding, and no one moved an inch.
Several minutes slowly passed.
*AWOOOOO!!*
The mournful howl of the wolf at the front of the caravan resounded. The two wolves’ eyes suddenly changed. They focused at Misho and Maia.
*AWOO!*
One of the wolves howled and pointed at Maia. It and the other wolf then dashed to her. They assumed Maia was weaker than Misho because she looked more slender.
"Keep your spear up!" Misho shouted.
He and Maia raised their spear up. This would make it impossible for the wolves to jump on them.
*ARF!*
The wolves lowered their heads and continued in instead of jumping up to pounce on them.
"Down!"
Misho and Maia pointed their spears down.
As if the wolves were waiting for that chance, they took a full stop and reduced their momentum, and then they jumped up and opened their mouth wide.
The two wolves were very close already. When they jumped, it propelled them forward even faster.
"Defend!" Misho shouted.
He became the leader between them two without him even realizing it, and Maia fully trusted in his capabilities. After all, the two of them spent some time training with each other.
Misho and Maia pulled their spears in and held the pole with both of their hands.
Misho used all of his focus and aimed it perfectly in between the wolf’s mouth. Maia panicked and messed it up.
