Chapter 61: Stopped By A Monster
Even though it seemed like a hard challenge, Misho was interested in this. He wanted the Specialized Tier 2 Spell Art and the Tier 2 Weapon of His Choice.
He could finally get a Spell Art. It was even Tier 2! As long as he got it, he would be able to complete his dream of casting a spell art.
"Misho, I will do my best to help you," Maia said seriously.
"Thank you, Maia. First of all, we need to find a female NPC," Misho replied.
He looked back at where their caravan came from and wondered if he could’ve convinced a villager to become his maid.
"It’s too late to go back now. This caravan already traveled a long way yesterday," Mad said after seeing him look back.
"Yeah... I hope it will be easy to get an NPC to agree in Sunrise City."
Misho was hopeful. Although, he wasn’t actually confident about it. If there was an easy female NPC in the city, someone else would’ve already found that NPC and asked her to become their maid.
"We need to get to the city faster," Misho concluded.
"We need to eat breakfast first," Tonkotsu said as he walked toward them.
He carried several skewers of raw wolf meat in his hand.
"Is there no bread?" Misho asked.
"That is for lunch," Tonkotsu replied.
"Here, take these and try to roast them. It would be slower if I roasted them all on my own."
Tonkotsu passed them each two skewers of wolf meat. Misho still felt weird seeing the wolf meat, but he didn’t think that much about it compared to yesterday.
"What’s going on..?" Vivien asked as he woke up.
"I will explain it to him," Mad said and waved at Misho and the others to roast their skewers.
And so, Misho and Maia had a fun time roasting their wolf meat. Once they thought of it as food, it became normal for them. The problem was only in their mind.
They ate it and entered the carriage again as it continued heading to Sunrise City. Vivien already understood the event and was very enthusiastic about it. It was his chance to earn money and repay Misho, and he would take it.
WristRose and Jabber were also both in the carriage.
Misho wanted to ask where they went last night, but he could already faintly guess what they did. He would only make it awkward by asking.
This time, the group was friendlier with each other. Misho was finally freed from Tonkotsu’s constant stories about his food travels. He was able to learn why Jabber and the others were heading to Sunrise City.
It turned out that everyone was heading to the nearest cities. Some lucky players were spawned right beside it, giving them an earlier advantage.
The carriage became silent midway. Everyone had no more topics to talk about, so they just stared outside and watched the silent forest around them.
At noon, the caravan suddenly slowed down.
*SHRIEEEK*
*SHRIEEEK*
*AWOOOO*
"The Carriage Boars are panicking! There are Forest Wolves in the front!" Jabber shouted.
He was the first one to react, and he dashed through the middle of the carriage and jumped down. WristRose, TonkotsuRamen, and MadPolygon followed behind him.
Misho, Maia, and Vivien were alarmed and followed suit.
By the time Misho was out of the carriage, he saw Jabber standing directly in front of the first carriage at the front. The merchant was there together with some NPCs.
Meanwhile, WristRose was still in the middle of running there. fɾēewebnσveℓ.com
"Should we follow?" Misho asked Mad and Tonkotsu.
"No. We are too weak. We should stay here and keep a lookout. There might be some monsters lurking," Mad replied.
He carefully gazed around them.
*ROAARR*
Misho turned his head and saw a huge wolf circle in front of Jabber and the others. It was half as tall as the carriage. It was so absurd looking, and even, Jabber, who was quite tall, was only slightly taller than it was.
Mind you, these carriages had large wheels that made them three and a half meters tall. The reason for the large wheels was that they rode smoother on rough terrain.
"That’s a big one!" Mad exclaimed.
"Phew! I almost thought that was their normal size!"
Misho grabbed his chest. If all Forest Wolves were that big, he wondered how he could fight them.
"Enough looking. Focus on our surroundings. There might be a big pack!" Mad reminded everyone.
If a Forest Wolf sneaked up on them, it would give them lesser time to react.
In the front, the huge Forest Wolf continued circling while keeping its eyes on Jabber’s group. It had deep brown fur, large paws with razor-sharp nails, and fangs that extended out of its mouth.
"Careful! This Forest Wolf is at the Essence Sea-stage!" the merchant, Joga, shouted.
"What is it doing?" WristRose asked as she stood beside Jabber.
She was naturally scared of seeing such a big wolf, but she was confident in her abilities. It was obviously not her first time dealing with monsters.
"It’s warning us. This is its territory, but we can’t pass through if we don’t continue onward," Joga explained to her.
"What is the plan?" Jabber asked Joga without looking away from the Forest Wolf.
"Kill it!"
"This f*cker is dead! Mud Blind!"
After briefly closing his eyes, Jabber swung his hands towards the Forest Wolf’s face. A splash of mud shot up from the ground.
The Forest Wolf jumped back, and the mud spell hit its left paw. It simply raised that paw and shook it as if nothing happened.
*AWOOOO!!*
The Forest Wolf raised its snout to the sky and howled.
In the back, five smaller Forest Wolves suddenly appeared out of the forest. They stared at Misho’s group like they were already food. Their size was comparable to wolves in the real world, about as tall as their waist.
"Oh no! Does the two of you have spell arts!?" Mad asked in a panic.
He and Tonkotsu had no spell arts. They were both unlucky when they rolled for the gacha.
"I do! Misho, let’s do this!" Maia shouted excitedly.
