Chapter 1950: Chapter 1950: Mirror World (27)

2020.

Cheng Mu didn’t know how Father Cheng dealt with Qu An, but since that day, he hadn’t seen Qu An again.

Because of his injury, Cheng Mu couldn’t go out, and he was stuck at home every day.

Chuzheng hadn’t been around much these past few days, she seemed to be busy with some competition, so Cheng Mu hadn’t seen much of her either.

"Brother Mu!"

Li Huan poked his head in from outside the door.

"Why are you here?"

"Came to see our injured soldier." Li Huan pushed open the door, smiling as he pointed behind him: "I’m not the only one here."

Several classmates followed Li Huan, standing awkwardly outside, waving at him.

Cheng Mu: "..."

They were already here, so Cheng Mu couldn’t just send them away; he led them downstairs to the living room.

Not many people came, considering Cheng Mu’s personality, not many dared to come.

Cheng Mu sat downstairs for a while, realizing he hadn’t brought his phone, then went upstairs to get it.

Knock, knock—

Cheng Mu glanced at the door, and there stood the class monitor.

The class monitor looked different than at school, her hair let down and glasses removed, sweet and charming like a blooming peach blossom.

Cheng Mu wasn’t in the mood to appreciate it: "Anything you need?"

"Um... I..."

The class monitor nervously clutched her clothes, her face slightly flushed, not daring to look at him.

"Cheng Mu... which school did you choose for your application?"

Cheng Mu: "I don’t know, haven’t decided yet."

The class monitor pressed her lips: "You must have done well, right? Will you apply to Q University?"

Cheng Mu glanced at her, still with those same three words: "I don’t know."

Class Monitor: "..."

The class monitor took a deep breath: "Cheng Mu, I have something to tell you."

Cheng Mu: "Hmm?"

"Cheng Mu... I..." The young girl gathered her courage, closed her eyes: "I like you!!"

Cheng Mu was stunned for a moment, his gaze then shifted towards the mirror.

Chuzheng, having returned sometime without him realizing, was leaning against the table, looking at him with an unclear expression.

Cheng Mu was briefly flustered, but then thought, he hadn’t done anything wrong, so why was he panicking?

"Cheng... Cheng Mu, I... I know..."

"I don’t like you." Cheng Mu rejected her bluntly, shifting slightly to block the class monitor’s view.

The class monitor kept her head down, not looking inside the room at all. Upon hearing Cheng Mu’s rejection, her eyes welled up instantly, too embarrassed to raise her head.

"Oh..." Her voice tinged with tears: "Sorry, I’ll... I’ll head down."

The class monitor ran downstairs, and Cheng Mu didn’t look back, instead leaving the room directly.

He didn’t know why, but he just didn’t dare to face her.

It was obvious that Li Huan and the others were aware of the class monitor’s confession. After she went downstairs, she sat alone in the corner, visibly downcast, clearly having faced rejection.

Cheng Mu was somewhat absent-minded, the atmosphere awkward, and eventually, they had to disperse.

After seeing off the classmates, Cheng Mu dawdled upstairs, pacing back and forth at the door.

What was he scared of!

He hadn’t done anything!

Right!

Cheng Mu comforted himself inwardly, then confidently pushed the door open to enter.

Cheng Mu glanced at the mirror; Chuzheng was still there, sitting with a book, snacking through its pages. Cheng Mu cleared his throat.

The woman slightly raised her eyes, her gaze passing through the mirror and across a decade’s passage of time, landing on him.

Chuzheng said nothing, and Cheng Mu stood there, unsure of how to start a conversation. The room fell eerily silent.

"Um..."

Cheng Mu finally couldn’t bear the quiet.

"Hmm?"

"Don’t you have anything to ask?"

"Ask what?" Chuzheng closed the book, comfortably changing her position.

Cheng Mu: "..."

Ask what? You saw someone confessing to me, shouldn’t you be asking about that?

"Nothing." Cheng Mu grunted in frustration, stepping out of the mirror’s range to sit at the window.

"Cheng Mu."

"What?"

"I trust that you won’t fall for someone else."

Cheng Mu paused, then awkwardly sneered: "Ha, men change their hearts quickly. Why do you trust me?"

"Because you’re different, I trust you. You wouldn’t dare."

Cheng Mu focused on the first part of her statement, missing the latter, his lips forming a gentle arc before they tightened, still awkwardly grumbling: "You’ll regret it!"

-

The exam results came out, and Cheng Mu was in the news for scoring the highest in the city.

With such scores, schools practically allowed him the choice.

Yet, Cheng Mu seemed quite torn when choosing a college.

The city had some good schools, but they were far from home, meaning he couldn’t return daily if he chose to study there.

Not being able to return home...

No, why does returning home even matter!

Cheng Mu was about to fill in his choice when the image of the cold, distant woman sitting by the mirror flashed in his mind.

Frustrated, Cheng Mu ruffled his hair, opening his constantly buzzing phone.

On the class group chat, many students were discussing which schools to apply to.

And Cheng Mu, being the top scorer, naturally was a focus.

After reading for a bit, Cheng Mu muted his phone, quickly filling in a school choice, then submitted it.

It was evening when Cheng Mu saw Chuzheng; he was about to leave when she appeared in the mirror.

Her starry night-themed dress, lightly curled hair cascading down her shoulders, the dress’s waistline hugging her curves, making her appear as though glowing softly, elegant and angelic.

Since Cheng Mu had seen her, she’d dressed casually.

This was the first time Cheng Mu had seen her dressed so meticulously.

But he couldn’t deny that she truly looked stunning...

"Where did you go?" Cheng Mu couldn’t help but ask.

"Dinner party." Chuzheng took off her hair accessories: "Going out? It’s pretty late."

Cheng Mu felt a nerve pinch: "You can return so late, why can’t I go out late?"

Chuzheng: "..." I wasn’t as fragile as you.

"Return early," Chuzheng didn’t ask where he was going: "If something happens to you outside, I won’t be able to save you." Cherish your life!

Cheng Mu: "..." Does she really like him!!

Cheng Mu stormed out of the room.

-

2030.

Night color enveloped, the moonlight leaping in through the window, spreading a silver glow across the floor.

Chuzheng heard a faint sound, opened her eyes, and sat up.

She glanced towards the mirror, in the darkness, only seeing a faint shadow leaning against the table in front of the mirror.

Chuzheng: "..."

What was the good person card doing in the middle of the night?

Chuzheng slipped off the bed, walked across the moonlight-covered floor: "Cheng Mu?"

Cheng Mu pillow rested on his arm, his name faintly called, triggering him to open his eyes sleepily.

Starlight settled on the visitor, cloaking her in a soft glow, outlining her gentle silhouette.

The gaze unguardedly invaded those calm and cool pupils, yet Cheng Mu felt a hazy realization. Her gaze seemed gentle, carrying an emotion he couldn’t comprehend but stirred his heart.

But when he looked again, there inside lay ice, everything was an illusion.
