Chapter 31: Chapter 31 - Crude Display of skill

Vincent walked out from the cafe.

He waved back to the group of heroes he made friends with. He got the contact information of all of them and they also got his.

Slowly, the network of his was expanding.

Looking at the phone, he received a phone call from Katherine. He picked up the call and put the phone to his ears.

"Hello, this is the best Detective in the whole world. Two worlds in fact. Vincent Detective speaking."

"Yike." Katherine sighed through the phone. "When you come back to the building, buy a few medicine. I will send you a list and money to your account."

"Did something happen?"

Silence came. He could still heat her breathing so he knew that the cut wasn’t cut off yet.

Vincent frowned.

"Did something happen, Katherine? Are you okay?" He asked urgently.

"I am fine." Katherine answered but he caught a small hint of wariness in her voice. "It is about Nathan."

"Alright, send the lists and money. I will come to the place quickly."

"Careful."

Vincent hung up the phone and immediately called the taxi. The yellow flying car descended from the sky and floated in front of him.

Vincent stepped inside and heard a notification coming from his phone. He checked the list and nodded.

Beside the list and money, there was also the location of the place where he could get all of the things from.

So he showed it to the driver. frёewebnoѵēl.com

"Slow or fast."

Vincent was hit by a sense of deja Vu. He heard this question from another taxi driver. Is there some kind of code?

"Fast." Vincent answered.

"Alright. Stay tight, sir."

The car moved at an incredible speed, passing through the air, reaching the desired place in five minutes.

Vincent stepped out from the car with his shaky legs. He realized an interesting thing about himself at that time.

He wasn’t afraid of heights. He wasn’t afraid of speed. But when those things combined, he felt uneasy.

"Stay here for a few minutes. I will come back."

"Alright, sir."

Vincent walked into the medicine store. It was a normal medicine store but he didn’t see any customers and only an old man sat in the chair, reading a newspaper.

A newspaper in this day and age?

"I need medicine, first."

"Who sent you, child?" The old man asked, not moving his eyes away from the newspaper.

"Nathan. Detective Nathan."

"Alright." As soon as the name left from his mouth, the old man stood up from the chair, quickly folded the paper and put it on the side.

He walked toward the counter with surprising agility.

"Tell me the list."

"Here." Vincent shoved his phone into the view.

The old man glanced at it and scoffed. "Did you think my eyes are working well? Speak out the list."

’But you just read the newspaper with no glasses.’ Vincent swallowed the complaint and listed out the things verbally.

The old man nodded and prepared everything. In about five minutes, everything was packed.

He then tapped at the table. A light shone up.

"Paid in there. The artificial intelligence will deduce the fee."

Vincent nodded and paid it that way.

He turned away with the bag.

"Tell Nathan that don’t use the injection too much. And let it heal naturally. The injection is not that good for a regular human body."

Vincent didn’t understand it but nodded. "I will tell him."

He went back to the Taxi and found himself in a dilemma. Did the taxi know about the underground?

Probably not.

"Go to the crime division. Fast."

"Alright, sir. Hold on tight."

After a few minutes, Vincent was riding his car at lightning speed.

Since there was no traffic on the ground except a very few earth bound cars as he and a public bus, he reached the dome-city fast.

He quickly maneuvered through the path and parked the car in front of the building. He quickly jumped out and climbed up the stairs.

"I am back." He yelled out, not with the bright tone which he used to do.

Realizing that there was no one on the second floor, he quickly went up and found two people in the living room.

Katherine was treating Nathan with care, nursing up his left arms with the white cloth.

She put the cloth into the bowl of clean water and pulled out, squeezing the water. After that, she put it back into the arm and cleaned the area around it.

After that she repeated. Slowly, the clean water transformed into red.

Vincent ran toward the living room and checked Nathan. He put down the bag he carried on the table.

"Shit." He blurred out as soon as his eyes laid upon Nathan’s wound.

His left arm was split out, revealing a white bone. Blood gushing out from the split wound endlessly.

Seeing this he wondered why Katherine didn’t say it more urgently. He sat down beside him, on the opposite side of Nathan.

He looked at his face and noticed that he was drifting between unconsciousness and lucid state.

He checked his cheek and pressed the finger on the pulse.

"Too much blood loss. We need to send him to the hospital for better treatment, Katherine." He said.

"I know. I know. But he said that he didn’t want to go to the hospital." Katherine answered with a shaking voice. Her eyes were moist as she looked at him.

Vincent saw that she was holding herself from crying.

"Reason?"

"He didn’t say. He tried to say this but he lost consciousness after telling me this. I don’t know what to do, Vincent. I try but the blood won’t stop coming out."

Vincent slapped himself in the cheeks hard. He had attempted the first aid lessons but that was a while ago. But before his job as a detective, he learned about the application of the wounds and basic medical knowledge.

He just needed to calm his head and carefully think about the next step.

He won’t let Nathan die. He was the man Vincent admired. Nathan wasn’t the friendliest person he met but conversing with him during the dinner was fun.

Each time they met, he learned a lot of things from him.

Like the east saying, a teacher of the day is a father for life.

Vincent took out all the things he bought and dumped on the table. He quickly checked everything and started the treatment.

He ordered Katherine a forest set of water.

He didn’t want her to see the crude method he was about to treat.

"Don’t scold me from the pain, Nathan."

He picked up the surgical needle and thread made from the material similar to the flesh and started closing the wounds.

He didn’t close it blindly but recalled everything he learned from the books about human anatomy.

Katherine came back with water and was shocked to find him operating.

"Light. I need light to see the blood vessels." Vincent said.

Katherine nodded and grabbed the emergency flash light.

Vincent put down the needle and used the syringe shaped objects to connect every blood vessel. He tried hard not to connect the wrong path.

After that, he slowly started sewing the flesh.

The wounds were finally closed but he needed to think about the problem of blood loss.

Without proper blood, the damage will occur in the organs and brains for not enough oxygen.

Think. Vincent. Think.

Going to the hospital was the best choice. The blood transfusion.

But since Nathan was the one against it, there must be a reason.

Vincent’s mind wondered, checking everything he could do.

Feed him food? Rejected. Grab the blood from the hospital? Illegal and he would need to explain.

Limitless Energy.

He opened his eyes.

He had limitless energy.

Yeah.

"What is his blood type?"

"A."

"Thank goodness it is the same as mine." Vincent sighed in relief.

He quickly set up the blood transfusion and drew out his own blood.

After that, he let it flow the blood into Nathan’s arm.

Slowly but surely, the pale complexion on his face returned to normal. freewёbn૦νeɭ.com

Vincent let out a little laugh. He was stunned at himself. He couldn’t believe he just did all this.

He turned to look at Katherine and she hugged him tightly, burrowing her face into his chest.

She was crying. Very softly.

"Don’t look." She said through the tears. "I will punch you."

"I won’t look." Vincent said, patting her head.

He knew that she viewed Nathan as a father figure. He hugged her back but did it carefully so that his blood stained hand won’t touch her hair.

"...hter."

"What?" Vincent asked, not hearing the full word.

"Hug me tighter."

"As you wish."

He finally embraced her fully.
