Chapter 11: Chapter 11 - Reward is kiss and...
"Aim like this." A soft whisper sounded on his neck.
His hand was guided by soft arms, her head resting on his shoulder. Since they were both in a similar height, she said it was easier to execute like this.
Vincent followed her lead. She was the boss here.
"Place your finger on the trigger." She commanded.
Vincent followed.
"Look at your stance to see if there is anything you need to do." She said, "I changed the output of the gun but it is still difficult for a newbie to get a footing from the blast."
Vincent fixed his posture and nodded.
"Then fire."
Vincent pulled the trigger and the revolver lit in blue color and released a compressed white energy, traveling at an incredible speed. The speed is almost reaching the light speed.
It reached toward the target and hit at the side, missing it completely.
"Impressive." She said,
"Thanks, Mia." He said, turning around, facing the purple woman.
She smiled and grabbed at his arm, massaging his arm. "You are thick. You must have trained a lot for your job."
"Yeah." Vincent smiled, allowing the touch. To be honest, he was more fascinated with her skin color. It was wonderful to look at.
Her hair was also light purple. frёewebηovel.cѳm
"You got a superpower?" He asked. "I can’t imagine people without some kind of super strength firing the gun constantly."
"My power is useless." Mia smiled.
"Why?" He pressed, aiming again at the target, this time he did everything without her guide.
He fired another shot, this time almost reaching the desired target. He clicked his tongue.
"Because, it is a personal secret. You need to get into me to learn it." Mia teased. freewebnσvel.cøm
Vincent laughed and played along with her. They both knew that there was a physical attraction between them but stopped it from advancing more.
Vincent didn’t have time to fool around yet. His job was near and he needed to master some self defense quickly.
Mia understood that.
Vincent finished his training and met the goal set up by Mia. If he managed to fire at the center, he would get a reward from her.
One shot was a kiss on the chest. Two consecutive shots got him a lover kiss ( They didn’t have the name French.) and so on.
Maybe because of this reward system, Vincent improved so fast that he reached the first goal.
Vincent opened up the door, still rubbing his cheek.
"Pervert." Katherine’s voice rang out beside him.
He turned and saw her leaving her office at the same time he came in. "That is harsh, Katherine. I am a respectful detective of this place. Treat me well." He demanded.
But instead of an apology, what he got was a fierce glance.
"Not all detectives are good people." She muttered and got close to him and sniffed.
"Freak." Vincent yelled out, stepping away.
"I am right. I smell a woman on you. Don’t fool my nose, Vincent. I am sharp." Katherine declared proudly.
"Really?" Vincent smelled himself and couldn’t pick up the smell she was talking about. He tilted his head in confusion and sighed.
At 7:30.
As usual, Vincent made dinner since Katherine was in a bad mood for some reason, he prepared everything himself and cooked.
At 8:00, dinner started. There was religion here in this world but they were not that well known. Due to the government advertisement of the heroes, people looked up to them instead.
Because of that atheists rose but there were still surviving religions. One of the reasons Nathan hired him as a junior detective was because he was impressed with his knowledge about eastern and western.
Since the world was united, young people like him didn’t usually engage in that kind of knowledge.
"The food is good as usual."
"Ahem." Katherine coughed with a warning.
Nathan glanced at her and turned back to Vincent. Vincent smiled back.
Nathan picked the subtle change and sighed, taking out a pipe. Katherine’s hand blurred and grabbed the pipe from his hand.
"No...." He screamed as if someone just snatched his first born. "I can smoke yesterday. You allow it."
"That is because I was in a good mood. Not right now." Katherine said and took the pipe with her, going downstairs, most likely putting the pipe inside Nathan’s office.
Nathan sighed, allowing a cute secretary to do as she pleased.
"You can’t stop her?" Vincent asked, washing the dishes.
"Are you crazy? No way. You don’t know how scary she can be." He said with a smile. "When I first started this job, it was a mess. I don’t want to brag but I only managed to gain the client because of my efficiency. Otherwise, this place won’t exist."
Vincent listened.
"I remember the first time she worked for me. We don’t have the place yet but my office was a mess. She immediately closed the office and dropped all the jobs and focused on cleaning up the office. I still remember her scolding. Always thought of as an annoying niece." Nathan laughed.
"How did you two meet? From my observation, the chance of you two meeting was almost zero." Vincent asked.
"She is the daughter of my friends." Nathan said. "Since it is personal stuff, I won’t say it anymore. Ask her yourself, Vincent."
"I will." Vincent said, wiping his hand.
"Anyway, I got a job for you."
"Really? Monday right?"
"Yeah, your first case. I won’t be staying beside you but I will hear the report about you."
"Why?" Vincent asked.
"Because the case I am currently working on is dangerous. Without proper knowledge and how to walk away, it could take your life." Nathan said seriously.
Vincent gulped and nodded.
"Anyway, as for the job, go to the Robbery and Homicide Division of the city. They always needed a lot of help." Nathan said, standing up, stretching his body. "And don’t overthink a lot. Not every case is complex like a three handed killer."
"I will keep that in mind."
"Good work, Vincent. I am hoping to see the time you surpassed me." Nathan said with a soft smile.
"You want me to surpass you?" Vincent said, pointing at himself.
"Of course, you are my protege." Nathan waved his hand and entered his room.
Vincent went silent and nodded. He was blessed with wonderful people in this world. They were kind and fun to hang around.

Vincent spends all his free time on studying and training his combat. Right now, he could fire the gun effortlessly but he needed a few seconds to adjust his gun.
He was still far away from getting two consecutive shots.
With the effect of stress and pressure from the crime scene, his performance would likely drop a lot but still, it boosted his confidence.
And his knowledge regarding the detective had expanded as well. He gained a lot of guidance from Nathan.
The suit came yesterday and it was perfect, like he suggested, Wilson added a lot of pockets for him. Vincent stared at the mirror and checked himself.
He smiled and practiced his introduction and nodded at himself. He put the futuristic revolver on the back and hid it with a long grey coat.
When he came out of his door, he noticed Katherine standing, hiding her mouth. Vincent frowned, grabbing her hand and saw her laughter escape.
"What are you a child? Practicing the introduction." Katherine pressed her stomach.
Vincent hid his embarrassment and ignored her. He walked down to the first floor and met Nathan who was wiping a car.
Just like Hera, Nathan’s car was an old school that used gas. Vincent wasn’t complaining but he still wanted to try that flying car he saw on the phone.
"I will send you to the division." Nathan said.
A footsteps ran down from the stairs and Katherine came into view, walking down in a hurry.
"Wait. Wait."
Vincent stopped himself from going into the car. She came up to him and fixed his collar and placed a white handkerchief on his pocket.
"Stay safe." She said and left.
Vincent laughed with a smile and turned around. Nathan smiled at the scene and started the car.
"Now, you are going to get paid. Excited?"
"Nervous." Vincent answered.
