Chapter 10: Chapter 10 - Gun and money
It was now Friday.
Vincent mostly finished all the study he needed for the job. He even ran through the simulation with Katherine by roleplaying it. fгee𝑤ebɳoveɭ.cøm
He didn’t know whether he awakened the roleplaying kink but he liked it a lot.
His days were mostly spent in his office studying. After that, he headed upstairs and cooked dinner.
During the dinner, he absorbed Nathan’s experience regarding the investigation. Luckily, there was a gym on the first floor. The first floor was mainly used for storage but with Katherine’s suggestions, Nathan modified it.
Now, it serves as a gym, storage and vehicles. A giant garage.
When he was washing the dishes, Nathan came from the side, grabbing the cup to make a coffee.
"I forgot to ask." He said. "Can you handle a weapon? More specifically, a gun."
"No." Vincent said immediately. "But I am good at self defense."
"Not good, you need to train how to use a gun. You don’t have superpowers, neither do I. Although the government put the superhero as a bodyguard, we need to be cautious." Nathan said, taking out his notebook.
He wrote down an address and ripped it apart and gave it to Vincent. "Here. Go there. They will give you a gun and train you. With your body control, I am sure you will get a hang of the gun in a few weeks."
"Got it." Although reluctant about holding a gun, he knew the danger of his job. And he wasn’t just a detective, he had his own mission of investigating Chaos and formed a plan to stop that.
That future was still far away. He sighed.

Saturday.
Vincent walked out from the gym, sweating rolling down from his body. He took off his shirt and placed it on his neck and hummed a tune.
On the way to his room, he met Katherine.
"Good morning."
She nodded, staring intently at his body, especially his abs.
"Want to touch?" He teased with confidence.
During the last three days, he and Katherine got rather close for various reasons. His lessons and cooking.
He had already cracked her personality but there was still a wall between the two. A very thin and hard wall.
"Sure."
Her answer shook him but since he was the one that extended the invitation, he closed toward her, letting her touch him.
Her soft hand glazed at his groin area, almost reaching his little brother. Katherine’s expression didn’t change at all. Still, wearing her emotionless face, she began to move her hand.
She touched his abs softly with her nails. He was bracing for the stabbing but it didn’t come.
Instead, she played with it, moving around. When she reached his chest, she stopped for a brief moment and a sly smile formed on her face and touched nipple.
Immediately, she pinched hard.
"Ouch. Ouch. Ouch." He yelled out in pain and shook his body, covering his chest with his hands like a madam.
"Haha." Katherine chuckled and stared at him as if she was looking at an incest.
She waved her hand and said, "Come to my office. I will give you an identification card for the gun shop. Go shower. You stink of sweat."
"People say my sweat smells good." freёwebnovel.com
"They must be perverts like you." Katherine scoffed and left to the second floor.
Vincent shook his head and took a long shower.
He changed his clothes outdoors and knocked on Katherine’s office.
"Come in." A cold voice came out from the room.
He entered inside. Katherine pushed back the thick glasses and stared at him, pointing with her chin to sit down. He followed.
She took out a card and threw it toward him like trash. He caught the card and looked at it.
Vincent Reed.
A junior detective of Nathan’s PI.
Below these two sentences was his phone number and on the corner, there was a chip embedded on it.
"They will scan the chip and pull out the information about you, understand?"
He nodded.
"Here is the money. Consider it as an advanced payment. Your salary is not fixed. It all depends on the case you participate in. Got it. But don’t worry, your average income is higher than the average in this place. You should know the meaning right?"
Vincent nodded, taking the money. The average income here was higher than the outside world. So the meaning was he was going to be rich.
"Shouldn’t you need to test cognitive assessment and psychological evaluation?" He asked, remembering the harsh process of buying a weapon in his old world.
"The gun shop will provide you with that." Katherine said and shooed him. "Now, go. I need to write a report for Nathan."
Vincent stood up and smiled and left. He used the second floor door and left. He had already memorized the map of the dome-city so he just walked slowly.
He passed a cafe which he wanted to try out and noted.
Soon, he arrived at the gun shop and looked at the sign.
GODLEN GUN.
Vincent was conflicted. On the other hand, this kind of advertisement was bold and loud, attracting people but he didn’t want that.
But his own detective work was so deserted. Nevertheless, he always saw Nathan busy with the work. Even Katherine won’t put down the computer, typing all the time.
But they all rested at 7 pm sharp. Maybe it was some kind of unwritten rule.
He shrugged and opened the door, alerting the shop keeper. It was a middle-aged man with scar running down his face, his left was white, blind.
He looked rough and tough, straight out of the Western wild west. He looked over at Vincent and didn’t say a word.
Vincent looked around and found no one here so he walked over to the man and showed his identification card.
"Hi, I’m a junior detective from Nathan. My name is Vincent Reed. I am here to train the gun and get one."
The man grabbed the card and scanned with his blind eyes.
"Woah." Vincent hid the amazement.
The man worked quickly, taking out a row of guns from the shelves and showing it to Vincent, motioning him to choose.
That was when he realized that the man couldn’t speak.
"I don’t know anything about guns." He said honestly. "Can you choose for me?"
The man stared at him and his hand and licked up a gun. It was a revolver. No, it looked like a revolver but it didn’t use bullets at all.
The man showed the energy ingestion place and motioned that this was where you reloaded.
Vincent understood everything somewhat crudely so he picked up.
The gun was secured now, he needed to learn how to use it effectively. The man pointed at the door beside the counter.
"The instructor is in there?"
The man nodded.
"Okay, thanks." He paid the money and entered inside another door. Immediately, he met with the stairs, going downward.
He walked and found himself in a shooting range, built in the underground. His head hurted thinking about that.
Once again, there were not a lot of people here. He noticed a few people standing in their boots and firing their own weapons.
He looked around and found a table which seemed to be an instructor.
His eyes lit up as he noticed who the instructor was. He remembered her from the street.
She was a purple-colored woman with horns on her head. He remembered her winking at him. He walked over to her and showed him his card and said.
"I am here to learn how to shoot." He said.
The woman looked up from her phone and stared at him, a hint of excitement flashed in her and she smiled.
"Of course."
