Chapter 242: Chapter 242: Four Men, Two Babies, and Absolute Chaos
The room was finally quiet after the two legendary babies were born. Yue Yue looked at the tiny, fuzzy bundles in Cang Yuze’s arms and gave them a tired, loving stroke.
She felt her eyelids getting very heavy. Now that the System’s work was done and the babies were safe, her body decided it was time for a very long nap.
She fell asleep almost instantly after taking the Body Refinement Pill... her breathing became soft and peaceful.
The High Healer wiped the sweat from his forehead.
He finished checking Yue Yue’s pulse and nodded. "The lady is in good condition," he whispered to the three tall men standing over him like mountain giants.
"She has just fallen asleep from exhaustion. Let her rest. I will go and brew some special tonics and medicines to help her strength return."
But as he spoke, his eyes kept drifting toward the two small bundles in Cang Yuze’s arms.
He was dying of curiosity. He really wanted to peek at the mythical creatures. He even reached out a shaking hand, hoping to touch a tiny wing.
Suddenly, a cold hand gripped the back of the healer’s neck. Feng Yanshen leaned in close, his eyes flashing with a terrifying light.
"The news of these cubs does not leave this room, do you understand?" Feng Yanshen hissed in a very threatening way. freewebnovёl.ƈom
"If a single word leaks out to the public, you will be punished so severely you will wish you were a fish in a frying pan."
The High Healer froze. He felt like a small mouse caught by a hawk.
Feng Yanshen looked at Xing Luoye, who was still kneeling on the floor and crying with joy, looking completely useless and crazy from the birth.
Feng Yanshen snorted. He thought that if the father was going to be this emotional, then he, the High Priest, would have to be the scary one to protect the family.
"I... I am completely loyal to the Crown Prince!" the healer squeaked, nodding his head like a little chicken. "I would never utter a single word! My lips are sealed tighter than a clam!"
Cang Yuze also looked at the healer with deep, dark eyes. "He is right. This is a matter of life and death. If the other empires find out we have two divine Griffins, there will be a war. You must be silent."
The healer nodded so hard his long beard wiggled. "Yes, yes! I understand! But... please, Crown Prince... can I just have one tiny peek? I have lived a hundred years and never seen a Griffin. I just want to see how they look!"
Cang Yuze didn’t know what to do. He looked at Feng Yanshen for help. Feng Yanshen sighed and crossed his arms. "Fine. You can only look at the boy. The girl is a female, so you are not allowed to stare at her."
The healer didn’t care about the rules; he was just happy to see one! He leaned over and peeked at the firstborn son.
The baby didn’t have all his fur yet, but he was truly magnificent. Half of his body was a strong lion cub with tiny paws, and the other half had the sharp beak and folded wings of a golden eagle.
"It is... it is a miracle," the healer whispered in awe. He looked at the sleeping Xing Luoye and wondered.
Is this man really a Griffin? How did I never know such a clan still existed? He realized the world was much bigger than his books.
The healer felt very honored. If the Crown Prince did not trust him absolutely, he would never have seen such a legendary sight. He felt very happy and proud.
"I will go now!" the healer said, bowing low. "I will brew the best supplements for the cubs and the lady. They will grow up big and strong!"
He scurried out of the room, still muttering about lion-birds and miracles. Feng Yanshen immediately shut the door behind him and locked it with a click. He looked at the two small babies and then at the crying Xing Luoye.
"Get up, you idiot," Feng Yanshen muttered, though he felt a little bit of jealousy in his heart.
"You are a father now. Stop leaking water from your eyes and help us watch over them."
Xing Luoye finally snapped out of his dazed state. He stopped trembling so hard and realized he hadn’t even held his own children yet.
He scrambled to his feet quickly, but his legs were still a bit weak. Cang Yuze saw his shaky hands and felt his own lips twitching.
"For goodness’ sake, stop shaking!" Cang Yuze teased. "You look like you are going to drop them on the floor. Is the happiness of having twins making you blind?"
Han Soi was much more composed. He stepped forward and took the small, fuzzy bundles from Cang Yuze’s arms. He looked at the Griffin cubs with a very deep and proud gaze.
He was happy that his own son, Xiao Bai, now had a brother and a sister to play with. Xiao Bai would not be lonely anymore.
Han Soi carefully placed the two babies into a small, soft bed that they had already prepared near Yue Yue’s side. He looked at the still-shaking Xing Luoye and gave him a nudge.
"Stop your trembling and look at them," Han Soi said firmly. "You are only allowed to hold them if you can keep your hands steady. We will not let you drop them." frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓
Xing Luoye nodded quickly. He didn’t care if the other three men looked at him with disdain or annoyance.
He knew they were just jealous! After all, he was the father of not just one child but twins. He felt like he could laugh and sing all day long.
What do they know about the happiness of a father? he thought to himself.
Han Soi read his mind and snorted back. "Don’t forget that I was the first one to become a father. Yue Yue gave birth to my son first."
