Chapter 113: Chapter 113: The High Priest Played Victim... and Won

Yue Yue opened her mouth to deny him, but the words died in her throat.

The moment she tried to pull away, Feng Yanshen’s expression became even more heartbroken.

He looked down, his long, silky eyelashes casting dark shadows under his silver eyes. He looked so sad and pitiful that Yue Yue felt her heart clench painfully.

She didn’t know what to do. This was the most powerful man in the world, yet he was acting like she had just shattered his soul into pieces.

Suddenly, he lifted his gaze and looked her directly in the eye. "Yue Yue... do you really not want me to be your beast husband?"

Yue Yue almost choked on her own breath. In her mind, she was screaming, "Yes! I’m still terrified of you!"

She was honestly afraid that if she rejected him, he might snap again, go crazy, and bury her right here in this forest so she would not be alive to tell the tale of his disgrace.

But then, Feng Yanshen said something that completely shocked her.

"Yue Yue, you have already touched me," he said, his voice dropping to a low, silky whisper. "And I have touched you too. I helped you through your estrus. I have seen everything. How can you abandon me after that?"

Yue Yue’s face turned bright red, remembering the fake estrus of hers and how he had been the one to help her.

"If word goes out that I have been with a female who doesn’t want me, which other female will ever accept me?" he continued, looking like he was on the verge of tears.

"Am I destined to die a lonely death? Will I be left with no one to care for my soul?"

Yue Yue wanted to scream at the top of her lungs. You are the High Priest! You are the most beautiful man in the universe!

Females are literally lining up for miles outside the temple just to catch a glimpse of your shadow! How can you say you’ll die alone?!

But looking at his trembling lips and his beautiful silver eyes, she realized he was being serious.

In his mind, because they had shared such intimate spiritual and physical moments, they were already bonded. To him, if she left, he would be a "discarded" male.

"I... I didn’t say I would abandon you," she stammered, feeling herself being backed into a corner by his pure, manipulative sadness.

Feng Yanshen’s eyes lit up slightly. He leaned in closer, his tattered robes slipping further down his chest. "Then you will take responsibility? You will let me stay by your side, even with Han Soi?"

Yue Yue felt like she was trapped in a net.

Before she could answer, a loud, thunderous roar echoed through the forest. The ground shook, and the trees nearby snapped like toothpicks.

"GET AWAY FROM MY WIFE!"

Han Soi had arrived.

When his eyes landed on the nest, he felt his blood boil until he thought he might explode.

There was his wife, his precious Yue Yue, trapped in the arms of that disgusting man.

From Han Soi’s perspective, the scene was a nightmare.

Feng Yanshen was leaning his heavy body on Yue Yue, his tattered robes making him look like he had just been in an intimate struggle.

Yue Yue seemed to be trying to push him away, but the High Priest was clutching her, refusing to let her go.

Han Soi didn’t care about politics or the Phoenix clan’s legacy anymore. This man had kidnapped his wife in front of his eyes.

Any sane thought left Han Soi’s mind as his eyes turned bloodshot. He was going to kill the High Priest, right here and right now.

Yue Yue and Feng Yanshen both snapped their heads toward the sound of the crash. "Han Soi!" Yue Yue whispered, her heart leaping with relief and fear.

Feng Yanshen looked at the massive black winged serpent. For a split second, his silver eyes turned sharp and dangerous. But the moment he felt Yue Yue’s gaze turn back toward him, he shifted instantly.

The sharpness vanished. His eyes turned watery and sad again. He lowered his head like a kicked puppy, looking even more pitiful than before. frёewebηovel.cѳm

Han Soi didn’t wait for an explanation. With a roar of fury, he swung his massive serpent tail.

The impact was like a mountain hitting a tree. Feng Yanshen was yanked out of the nest and thrown several meters away.

His body was dragged through the mud and crashed against the jagged trunks of the towering trees. The rough wood scratched his pale, deer-like skin, leaving red marks across his chest and arms.

Feng Yanshen did not fight back. He didn’t even try to defend himself with his spiritual power.

He slowly stood up, his silver hair messy and covered in dirt. He didn’t look at Han Soi; he only looked at Yue Yue with a gaze that said, "See? I am being hurt because of you."

Han Soi transformed back into his human form, his fists glowing with spiritual energy. He charged at Feng Yanshen and began to strike him. Punch! Kick! He was beating the most powerful man in the empire as if he were a common thief.

Yue Yue was stunned. She tried to scramble out of the massive nest, but the branches were high and tangled. "Han Soi! Stop! Please stop!" she screamed, her voice cracking. "He just came out of a frenzied state! His mind is weak! Don’t do this!"

But Han Soi was deaf to her cries. All he could see was the man who had touched his wife.

Suddenly, the sound of more footsteps filled the forest. Wei Han and the other temple servants finally arrived, breathless and panting.

When they saw the scene, they nearly fainted from shock. Their holy High Priest was being brutally beaten by the Young Duke.

"Stop him!" Wei Han screamed, his voice high with terror. "You cannot strike the High Priest! Guards, move!"

Even though Han Soi was the husband of the S+++ female, he had no right to lay a finger on the High Priest.

The servants and guards rushed forward, desperately trying to pull Han Soi away. It took six men to finally hold Han Soi back. He was still snarling, his teeth bared like a wild animal.

Yue Yue finally managed to climb out of the nest, falling onto the muddy ground with a thud. She didn’t care about her own bruises. She ran toward Feng Yanshen to check on him.

The High Priest was in a terrible state. His lip was torn and bleeding, and his face was starting to swell from Han Soi’s heavy punches.

There were deep scratches on his shoulders from being dragged through the forest.

As Yue Yue reached him, he didn’t complain or get angry. He just looked at her with those silver, pitiful eyes, silent and broken. freeweɓnøvel.com

Yue Yue felt a wave of guilt wash over her so strongly she felt sick. I did this, she thought.

She was the one who had entered his spiritual sea. She was the one who had "touched" him and healed him. In the beast world, she had technically taken advantage of him while he was vulnerable.
