Chapter 112: Chapter 112: The High Priest Wants Me to Stay

The bird stopped struggling. It let out a long, shaky breath that vibrated through the entire spiritual sea.

The aggressive, wild energy that had been trying to destroy everything began to turn into a calm, peaceful mist.

Yue Yue felt his heartbeat slowing down to a normal rhythm. She was exhausted, and her pink tendrils were dimming, but she refused to let go. She squeezed him tighter, her little snake head resting against his warm feathers.

"Come back, Feng Yanshen," she whispered into his mind. "The fire is gone. You’re safe now."

In the real world, the giant bird sitting in the nest suddenly closed its eyes. The dark glowing light on its feathers vanished, leaving only pure, shimmering silver.

And the pollution level on the System’s screen began to drop rapidly from 98% down to a safer zone.

Yue Yue finally pulled her consciousness out of the burning spiritual sea and opened her eyes.

The heavy, suffocating weight of the giant bird was gone. In its place, the "crazy bird" had transformed back into a man.

Feng Yanshen was lying in the messy nest beside her. His high-priest robes were in absolute tatters, barely clinging to his shoulders and chest.

He looked like he had been through a war. His skin was pale, and he looked incredibly vulnerable without his usual cold and arrogant aura. His entire body soaked with sweat. He was finally out of the frenzied zone, his body relaxed in a deep exhaustion.

Yue Yue let out a long sigh of relief. "Finally," she whispered. She tried to sit up, her muscles aching from being sat on by a giant phoenix for so long.

But just as she moved, a strong hand suddenly shot out and gripped her wrist.

With a sudden tug, Yue Yue was pulled back down, crashing right into his hard chest.

"Ah!" she screamed in surprise.Feng Yanshen’s eyes slowly fluttered open. For the first time, Yue Yue found herself staring into his real eyes.

They weren’t the blazing, terrifying red she usually saw when he took off his blindfold. Instead, they were a beautiful, clear silver...like the moon reflecting on a calm lake.

She froze, completely mesmerized. Is this his real eye color? she wondered. Without the red pollution, he didn’t look like a devil at all. He looked like a fallen god. ƒгeeweɓn૦vel.com

Feng Yanshen seemed to be in a daze. He didn’t say anything at first. He just looked at her with those silver eyes, then slowly buried his head in the crook of her neck. He took a deep, shaky breath, inhaling her scent as if he were starving for it.

"Don’t go..." he whispered, his voice cracking. "Don’t leave me alone."

Then, a very small, broken sound left his mouth: "I am afraid."

Yue Yue stunned. She couldn’t believe her ears. This was the High Priest...the most powerful man in the four empires, the one everyone worshipped and feared.

To hear him admit he was afraid made her heart ache with a sudden, deep pity. He wasn’t a cold statue; he was just a lonely man who had been burning in his own power for too long.

Her anger at being pecked and sat on vanished instantly. She looked down at the powerful man who was now trembling in her arms. She reached out and began to cradle his head, stroking his long hair gently. fɾeewebnoveℓ.co๓

"It’s okay," she murmured, patting his head just like she would a lonely child. "I’m here. I’m not going anywhere. The fire is gone, Feng Yanshen."

Feng Yanshen leaned into Yue Yue’s embrace, feeling a sense of comfort he had never known.

Only he knew how shocked he had been when that little white snake appeared in his burning spiritual sea.

At first, he thought he was hallucinating. He had pecked at her because he was sure she was a ghost or a cruel trick of his own mind.

But when the little snake bared its fangs and hissed at him, he realized she was real. She was so bossy and feisty...just like Yue Yue.

Even though his mind had been a mess of fire and madness, the feeling of her wrapping her spiritual body around his was something he could never forget.

A deep blush crawled up his neck. His breathing became heavier, and his body, still damp with sweat from the exhaustion of the collapse, clung to her even more as a cold forest wind blew past them.

As his sanity fully returned, the reality of what he had done began to hit him. He had kidnapped her. He had acted like a wild animal.

A wave of deep shame crossed his face, and he tightened his arms around her, hiding his eyes.

"Yue Yue," he whispered against her neck, his voice trembling.

"Do you even know what it means for a female to enter a male’s spiritual sea? It is the most intimate bond a beastman can have."

Yue Yue stiffened in his arms, her heart skipping a beat.

"Yue Yue... do you like me?" he asked suddenly.

Yue Yue was stunned and opened her mouth to speak, but he didn’t give her a chance to reply.

He was terrified that she would say something that would hurt him or reject him. He kept talking, his words tumbling out fast.

"Do you love Han Soi that much? Tell me... you even gave birth to his child. Is he that important in your life?"

His voice sounded heartbroken, and Yue Yue started sweating buckets. Why was he bringing all of this up now? She felt overwhelmed by his sudden vulnerability.

Then, he said something that shocked her even more. "Yue Yue... if you like him so much... I won’t mind. I... I can tolerate him."

Yue Yue’s eyes widened. The arrogant, cold High Priest was actually saying he would be willing to share her with another man just to keep her near him.

Before she could process this, Feng Yanshen suddenly pulled back slightly, looked at her with those silver eyes, and dipped his head.

He pressed his mouth against her soft lips in a deep, desperate kiss. Yue Yue’s eyes went wide, her brain going completely blank.

When he finally pulled back, he looked at her with a gaze that was both pleading and possessive.

"Yue Yue, don’t abandon me, okay?" he whispered. "We have had the most intimate contact possible in the beast world. You... you have to take responsibility for me now."

Yue Yue sat there, completely speechless, wondering how her life had turned into such a complicated mess in just one day.
