Chapter 64: Zombie Attack?
"Everyone take cover! There’s a zombie attack!"
"Move away from the wall!"
"Why are they attacking this early!"
The sound of people running away from the wall began to be heard. Theodore was also surprised by this sudden attack because he had not expected an immediate zombie attack like this.
Because zombies today still have not evolved or mutated, they cannot climb, and their movements are still relatively slow. So, the workers below were trying to escape to save themselves.
Theodore and the two soldiers sent to guard the workers immediately rushed forward and dealt with the zombies’ attack. Theodore quickly used his Wind Slash skill to repel a group of zombies that had entered the inner area of the base.
"Take care of me from behind, I’m going forward!" Before rushing forward, Theodore reminded the two soldiers to support him from behind.
To follow up on his attack, Theodore jumped high from his spot and flung his sword forcefully downwards towards the area full of zombies. There was still the added effect of Wind Slash; with his attack speed increased, Theodore swung his sword relentlessly.
It was easy for Theodore to defeat the zombies because of the soldiers’ help, who shot them from behind. He only needed to hold the heads of the zombies who had lost their balance due to being shot.
It didn’t take much time for Theodore to finish off the zombies. The workers who saw Theodore could quickly kill the zombies and rushed around the wall to continue their work.
"You don’t need to run away if zombies attack again. I and the soldiers here will protect you," Theodore said to the workers below who had returned to the wall.
"Then we’ll leave it to you!" Walter was pleased to see Theodore’s fighting skills.
Before help was sent from the military, the workers had to help the soldiers when the zombies attacked. So they were relieved that Theodore could be relied upon for this task.
To avoid any more zombie attacks, Theodore decided to check the outside of the wall. He only had to make a small detour to get there, so it’s no wonder the zombies could easily attack the workers.
"Too bad they haven’t finished building this moat yet. It would be very effective in preventing the zombies from entering the inner area of the base if there was a moat along this border." Theodore shook his head regretfully.
There was actually a trench dug very deep in front of the wall that was currently being built. From what Theodore could see, five meters in front of the wall, a broad and deep trench bordered the wall with the zombie-infested area.
If they could finish the trench, then the workers below would be more able to do their work. Unfortunately, the trench was only halfway through at the moment, and he didn’t know what made them not continue digging it.
There were many questions in Theodore’s mind about what was happening in this neighborhood. He would ask Geoffrey about it when they returned home. For now, Theodore just wanted to pass this day in peace.

When they returned to the barracks, it was already late. Theodore didn’t think that the military would immediately pay the results of their work today. Geoffrey invited Theodore to visit the canteen to get his dinner.
"Are you really alone when you go to the cafeteria?" Theodore tried to open a conversation between them.
"Not really, Roxanne usually waits for me." Geoffrey looked around as if looking for someone among the many people passing by.
"Apparently so." Theodore nodded his head in horror. It was no wonder he had come to the cafeteria with her.
Geoffrey just nodded, not paying much attention to Theodore’s words. He was still looking for Roxanne’s Roxanne’s whereabouts, who would usually wait for him around the cafeteria in their barracks.
"There she is! I thought she wouldn’t wait for me!" Geoffrey immediately invited Theodore to approach Roxanne, who seemed to be waiting for them.
Theodore also followed Geoffrey from behind; he hadn’t just seen Roxanne long ago. From a distance, Theodore could see Roxanne was very tired; he still didn’t know where Roxanne worked.
"I brought Theo’s brother today." Geoffrey cheerfully approached Roxanne, who smiled upon seeing him.
"Wow, so you joined the West Gate people, huh?" Roxanne turned to Theodore with a small smile.
"Yes, I just joined them today," Theodore replied, nodding.
"It must be hard working there. Geof always gets weak when he comes home from there," Roxanne chuckled softly.
"Today we weren’t too tired, Theo really helped us," Geoffrey said enthusiastically.
While talking, they walked into the cafeteria to get dinner for the day. Theodore realized that the food prepared in this canteen was practically complete, even though he could find meat there.
"It turns out there’s quite a lot of food here. Has it been this complete since the first day?" Theodore whispered to Geoffrey because it was pretty crowded.
"You’re surprised, aren’t you?! I was, too, but we don’t know how long they’ll be able to provide food like this," Geoffrey replied excitedly, but his voice sounded worried at the end of the sentence.
"Hopefully, they’ll still have plenty of food, so we can enjoy good food like this," Theodore whispered again.
Then, they focused on lining up and taking the food served into their own trays. Geoffrey had previously told Theodore to steam his food and eat it in the apartment.
At first, Theodore was confused about why they suggested it, but eventually, he found out it was because the cafeteria was crowded and the tables were almost complete.
Unable to eat in such a crowded atmosphere, Theodore silently agreed with Geoffrey and Roxanne’s decision. So he asked the staff there to wrap his food.
"Just so you know, there’s more takeaway food than there is in person," Geoffrey said to Theodore after they had gotten far away from the cafeteria.
"Really? Where do you know about this?" Theodore asked curiously.
"With an experiment," Roxanne said from beside Theodore. freewebnovel.cσ๓
"Huh? Experiment?" Theodore looked at Roxanne in confusion.
"Yes, we’ve eaten there several times, so we discovered this by accident," Roxanne replied happily.
"Since knowing this fact, we have never eaten at the cafeteria," Geoffrey replied proudly.
"Wow, I’m really helped by the information you guys have. By the way, I need to talk to you two. Would you mind if I had dinner with you?" Theodore slowly looked at Geoffrey and Roxanne in turn.
