Chapter 115: Stay Alert
By the time they finished moving all the items they got from looting the first floor of this building, it was already early morning. They decided to rest because they were too tired after a very long day.
They decided to continue their journey to the second floor tomorrow; today, they had to rest first. Cassian and the others began to take out the supplies they had prepared earlier.
While Theodore sat with Geoffrey and Roxanne, who had come with him, he didn’t know if they had prepared their own supplies.
But Theodore wouldn’t be okay with giving them his food supplies. Before that, Theodore asked about the items that Geoffrey had set aside earlier.
"Hey, where did you put the stuff you wanted to bring? I didn’t see it earlier," Theodore said to Geoffrey, who was still babbling on Roxanne.
Geoffrey turned to Theodore, who was talking to him, "I put it upstairs. I already asked Cassian’s brother for permission to do it," Geoffrey replied casually.
"Oh, yes. Didn’t you promise me to keep them?" Geoffrey immediately remembered that Theodore had promised him to keep the items he wanted to take home.
"It turns out that you already told Cassian. Then we can pick them up after the meal. Did you guys bring your own food?" After confirming that Geoffrey had gathered his things, Theodore immediately asked about their food supply.
"You don’t have to worry; I’ve prepared the food. If you want, I can give it to you, considering how much you’ve helped us," Roxanne said with a big smile, grateful that she had thought of this beforehand.
Theodore was quite surprised to hear Roxanne offer their food supplies to him. Theodore knew very well that Roxanne and Geoffrey’s situation wasn’t too good either; their food supply was running low, significantly since Roxanne had been injured then.
Although Theodore didn’t need the food, he was happy that Roxanne offered him food; he felt that it was not in vain that he had helped them all this time.
"There’s no need. I also brought food. If you lack food, just tell me. I prepared quite a lot of food," Theodore said lightly.
"Geof, already told me that your cooking is spectacular. I’ll let you know if we need your help," Roxanne replied, nodding.
Geoffrey, who saw his sister’s interaction with Theodore, also secretly grinned. He thought of doing something with their closeness, but he still did not know what to do.
"Your cooking is so delicious! I didn’t expect you to be so good at cooking," Geoffrey said enthusiastically, not wanting the conversation to end.
"Before coming to city A, I learned how to cook," Theodore replied as he opened his lunchbox; luckily, he had cooked quite a lot of pasta earlier, so he could eat well again this time.
Geoffrey and Roxanne looked surprised that Theodore had taken cooking classes before coming to town A. They didn’t think a youngster like Theodore would be interested in learning to cook.
"Why do you look so surprised?" Theodore raised one eyebrow in confusion as he saw Roxanne and Geoffrey’s reaction.
"I just didn’t expect it," Roxanne replied, scratching her cheek awkwardly.
The thing is, Roxanne herself didn’t think about learning how to cook because she was already busy with work. She thought that while she could order food from outside, this food problem would be solved for her and Geoffrey.
When the apocalypse happened, Roxanne realized how important it is to be able to cook. She just realized that cooking is one of the abilities one must possess to survive.
Now, Roxanne regrets that she didn’t prioritize cooking before, which is why she and Geoffrey had a hard time after the apocalypse.
"You’re excellent!" Geoffrey’s eyes shone brightly as he raised both thumbs up to Theodore.
Theodore waved, "You can do it too if you want to learn. Don’t you guys have to eat?" Theodore pointed at their lunchbox with his chin.
Only then did Geoffrey and Roxanne realize that they had sat on their food because they were too amazed by Theodore’s work.
With that, they ate their dinner peacefully. Not far from them, the members of Cassian’s group were also eating happily. The very late dinner was quickly finished, and the curfew was enforced.
Those who didn’t have a curfew could rest while waiting for their turn to have a curfew.
Since Theodore had already rested while the others were cleaning up the zombies on the first floor, he volunteered to do the night watch. With two other members of Cassian’s group, Theodore stayed awake to guard their territory.
During the night watch, Theodore was quite worried about the situation on the ground floor, given that the entrance to the building had been broken into earlier. frёewebnoѵēl.com
In addition, Theodore was worried about the situation around the elevator on the second floor, so he decided to talk to the other two people who were guarding the night with him.
"I intend to go downstairs to see how things are going. Is it okay if you guys stand guard here?" Before going downstairs, Theodore, of course, asked the opinions of the other two guards.
"Are you sure you want to go down alone?"
"No problem. You guys still have to guard this place anyway. Can I ask you guys a favour?" Theodore intended to ask them to check the area around the elevator leading to the second floor.
"What is it? I’m fine as long as I can do it."
"While patrolling, could you look at the area around the elevator to the 2nd floor? I’m quite worried about that place," Theodore explained his concerns.
"Alright, we’ll look at the area later."
"Then I’ll go downstairs first." Theodore nodded his head and turned around to go to the ground floor.
While holding the flashlight he had just taken from the sacred dimension, Theodore started walking downstairs, full of their cars. Not wanting to be missed, Theodore began his patrol downstairs. fгeewebnovёl.com
To start his patrol, Theodore decided to walk carefully along the sides of the room blocked by cars, remembering that zombies are now more intelligent in case they think they should hide behind those cars.
"It looks like I worried too much; there’s nothing here." Theodore circled around the car-covered streets and found nothing.
Even so, Theodore decided to walk towards the large truck covering the large hole in front of this building, where there used to be an entrance.
When Theodore decided to walk outside the truck, he could see several zombies intending to enter the building. Theodore was surprised by the appearance of the zombies.
He didn’t expect that the zombies would intend to enter the building and walk towards the truck that had been deliberately placed there to prevent them from entering the building.
