Chapter 103: Evolution
This time, Theodore wasn’t in the front row.; Cassian and his group had already organized their attack strategy. Theodore and his group were on the right side of the line, so he only needed to pay attention to one side.
Not only that, Theodore was also given the task of guarding Neville, who could support their group.
"Brother Cassian, there’s something up ahead, and I heard the sound of steps 100 meters from our current position." Neville suddenly raised his voice to convey what he had heard.
"Alright, prepare to attack the oncoming zombies," Cassian said as he reminded the others to prepare.
The others began to raise their weapons warily. Theodore himself whispered something to Geoffrey, who was nearby.
"If there really are zombies attacking, you take care of Neville. Roxanne and I will guard this side," Theodore explained, giving Geoffrey specific orders.
"Why do I have to guard the boy?" Geoffrey frowned as he heard Theodore’s order.
"Who knows? You could be friends with him; you’re the same age anyway." Theodore patted Geoffrey’s shoulder lightly to encourage him to make new friends.
Geoffrey looked at Theodore with a strange look, still unable to understand why Theodore suddenly wanted him to make new friends. But Geoffrey didn’t say anything else and inevitably accepted the order.
They continued to advance slowly but steadily; everyone seemed aware of their surroundings, ready to attack whenever a zombie appeared.
"There are zombies ahead!" freёwebnoѵel.com
Someone’s voice said that there were zombies ahead. When they heard that person’s voice, the zombies, sensitive to the sound, immediately turned to their group and started running towards them.
Unlike usual, the zombies actually ran towards them and looked very ferocious. Some people were entirely surprised by the changes in the zombies. Usually, they saw zombies walking slowly, but now they were running.
"Don’t just stand still! They’re coming," Theodore said when he saw many people surprised by the zombies’ change in movement.
"Everyone attack!" Cassian, who had been silent for a while, gritted his teeth and started attacking the zombies approaching them.
Theodore raised his sword and swung it at the zombies that spread out on his side, guiding Roxanne, who was beside him. Roxanne looked very nervous as she swung her short sword.
"No need to worry. I’m beside you, so don’t be afraid," Theodore said, helping Roxanne feel confident about launching her attack on the zombies approaching them.
"B-well." Roxanne’s voice sounded shaky when it came to attacking the zombies coming towards them.
Fortunately, Theodore and Roxanne were standing guard on the side where there weren’t too many zombies, so they weren’t too stressed by the zombies that kept coming like the others. It was good that Theodore didn’t volunteer to stand guard at the front.
If Theodore had chosen to guard the front, he would have endangered Geoffrey and Roxanne, who were still beginners when it came to fighting these zombies. Moreover, the zombies were now stronger than before.
"Geoffrey, how about you?" Theodore could only glance slightly at Geoffrey and Neville on his left side.
"Thanks to you, there aren’t many zombies coming at me," Geoffrey said, still excited because Theodore had helped him from the side.
They continued to fight the zombies that kept coming towards them, but slowly, the number of zombies decreased as they continued to slaughter them.
Currently, they were only in the ground-floor lobby; this building actually contained many places. Above the ground floor is a mall that is quite large and has five floors; in addition, there is a movie theatre on the 5th floor.
On the 6th floor and up to the 10th floor, there are many entertainment venues, such as karaoke and a gym. Above the 10th floor is a luxury hotel, with the most luxurious penthouse on the 15th floor.
From what Theodore knew from the information provided by the system, this building was very famous and an entertainment place for people in the suburbs. So it’s no wonder there are a lot of zombies here because there are indeed many people who visit this place.
When the zombie outbreak occurs at midnight, this place is indeed visited by people at night, so it’s no wonder that there are many zombies in this building.
"Neville, are there any more zombies coming?" Cassian, who was fighting at the forefront, asked Neville about the conditions around them.
"Nothing, sis. We can go upstairs after we’re done with the zombies here," Neville replied, shouting so Cassian could hear him.
The elevator leading to the upper floors was on the right side, which was the side Theodore was guarding. For some reason, Theodore felt he would lead the others to the upper floors.
"You want me to be the first to go up?" While swinging his sword to slash the zombie’s head, Theodore also spoke loudly, aimed at Cassian, who was just as busy as he was.
"It’s good to be in a group with someone who has travelled much against zombies like you. If you don’t mind going upstairs, I’ll take care of the back," Cassian replied while chuckling happily, stating that Theodore understood what was best for their group.
"No problem, but give me some help," Theodore asked Cassian.
"I’ll send some people to your side. When your side is clear, start going upstairs," Cassian said seriously this time.
Theodore had no problem with Cassian’s order to him, so he prevented Roxanne from being in the front and moved her to the back with Geoffrey and Neville.
Soon, Cassian’s people came to Theodore. After their arrival, Theodore immediately accelerated the clearing of the zombies on their side.
"I’ll go up first; support me from behind," said Theodore, referring to his plan to go up to the first floor.
"Don’t worry, we’ll support you from behind," said the two people who came to help Theodore.
Theodore activated his Sprint skills and started running towards the first floor. When he reached the top, he was immediately greeted by a horde of zombies who looked at him angrily.
Then, Theodore quickly activated his Wind Slash skill to give himself room to fight with the zombies.
It wasn’t long before Cassian’s two people caught up with Theodore. They immediately helped Theodore open the door on the floor.
Slowly, the people downstairs began climbing to the first floor after ensuring that almost all of the zombies below were there.
