Chapter 102: Let’s Find The Truth
Because of their group’s journey, this time, there is a contribution from the military, who really needs them to test zombies directly outside the base. The military wants to make sure whether the zombies outside have also evolved.
Although this allegation cannot be confirmed because Doctor Christopher is still researching it, just in case, Victor ordered Cassian to find out the situation outside the base.
Suppose the behavior of the zombies outside the base also shows irregularities. In that case, it can be concluded that these zombies have indeed evolved, meaning their existence could increasingly threaten human life.
Theodore is following Cassian’s car, which drives in front of him. Cassian previously told Theodore that he already knew where he was going, so this time, he would follow where Cassian went.
"Is it okay if we follow them?" Roxanne, sitting next to Theodore, was a little concerned that they were following Cassian and his group.
"You don’t have to worry. He told me that the military has given them an assignment, so they won’t lead us astray." Theodore explained that Cassian and his group would not lead them astray.
"Wow! They got a mission from the military?" Sitting at the back, Geoffrey interrupted his sister’s conversation with Theodore because he was interested in what he said.
"Yes. They have something to investigate," Theodore replied briefly, not wanting to explain what mission Cassian was doing for the military.
"I didn’t think we’d be following them. Then wouldn’t this trip be dangerous?" Geoffrey finally reached a thought on this matter.
For a while, Theodore was silent, intending to think about his answer before giving Geoffrey an answer. Theodore could not openly say that this trip was indeed dangerous.
On the other hand, Theodore also had to say that the current zombies were likely much stronger than the ones they had previously fought.
"It can be said that this trip is quite dangerous, but not that dangerous. After all, we do have to fight against zombies. I just want you guys to focus if we have to fight zombies later," Theodore explained to ensure the two were not scared.
"We can’t avoid fighting zombies when we leave the base," said Roxanne, nodding and understanding what Theodore meant.
Geoffrey, who was listening at the back, also tried to understand. It had been a long time since Geoffrey had fought zombies, so he was a little nervous.
"Thinking that we’ll be fighting zombies later, I’m getting a little nervous for some reason." Even the usually excited Geoffrey looked anxious at the moment.
Theodore chuckled softly when he saw Geoffrey’s rarely seen nervousness. Theodore was well aware of Geoffrey’s nervousness. For a boy as young as him, having not faced zombies voluntarily for a long time would definitely worry him.
"Take it easy. I’ll help you later," Theodore said, trying to calm the anxious young man.
In the middle of the conversation, Theodore noticed that the car in front of him began to turn towards the road leading to the outskirts of the city.
Initially, when they were still in the city center, there weren’t too many zombies in their way because many cars came out of the base and made the same noise as their car engines.
However, when they entered the suburbs, and there were fewer cars, the zombies started targeting their group’s cars.
"There seem to be more zombies approaching us," said Roxanne, who could see them running towards their group.
"I hope their destination is near," said Theodore, who also had to pay attention to his surroundings to not endanger their car.
Fortunately, Theodore’s car was in the middle of the group, so other cars were already shooting at the zombies. It was just that Theodore had to be able to maintain the speed of his vehicle so as not to disrupt the formation of their group.
From a distance, Theodore could see a tall, prominent building in this area. And Theodore immediately thought that the building would be their destination today.
Theodore’s guess was right soon enough because the car in front of him turned towards the tall building in the area.
When all the cars of their group had entered the area of the tall building, Cassian, who had arrived first, immediately went down and made a barrier wall in front of the building’s gate to prevent the zombies from chasing them.
"We’re finally here, and they can’t pursue any further." Cassian breathed a sigh of relief when they reached their destination.
Theodore, who had just exited his car, walked to Cassian near the gate.
"It seems like the population in the suburbs is more than in the city center; we should be careful," Theodore told Cassian after being near him.
"You’re right. I’m sure there will be a lot of zombies inside this building," Cassian said as he turned to look at the towering building in front of them.
"It’s time we saw what’s in there," Theodore said as he glanced at Cassian.
Cassian nodded and began to gather his group, preparing to enter the building in front of them.
Theodore turned back to Roxanne and Geoffrey, saying they would enter the building soon.
"We will be entering the building soon. Are you ready?" Theodore would understand if they were nervous when told they would soon be entering the suspicious building.
It looked so suspicious from the outside; it would have been strange if they hadn’t found any zombies inside.
"I suddenly feel nervous, too," Roxanne said as she rubbed the back of her head nervously.
Theodore smiled at Roxanne, who looked nervous. "Believe me, I will help you guys when we are in there," Theodore said again, calming them down.
Geoffrey caught his breath several times and tried to brace himself, "I’ve fought zombies at the west gate many times, so I’m sure I can get past this problem," Geoffrey said, trying to brace himself.
"Everyone, we’re going into the building!" Cassian announced that they were about to enter the building.
After hearing the announcement, Theodore invited Roxanne and Geoffrey to follow the others and enter the building immediately. frёeweɓηovel.coɱ
Each was already holding their weapons, ready to fight the zombies approaching them.
At that moment, Theodore realized Neville was walking towards his group.
"Cassian told me to join you for cover," Neville said, still with his bright face.
"Why did he send you to me?" Theodore furrowed his brow at Neville’s words.
"He believed that you could protect me. I can’t fight because I have to utilize my powers to detect movement around later," Neville explained smoothly.
"Alright, just remember not to move too far away from me and my group," Theodore said after letting Neville join him.
After that, they started to enter the dark building, and the typical groans of zombies began to be heard from outside, indicating many zombies inside.
