Chapter 3: Saga 3— Tsk! What a Shit Hole of a Guild....

Now that Kael knew where he was headed and who he was after (well, partially). All that remained was the amount of coins he would need to teleport to the capital city and the said amount.

"Yo! Paranoid system. How much would it cost to get teleported to the capital city?" he hissed.

[Well, nuisance of a host. I don’t think I would know the exact price since I don’t work in the federal teleportation department.]

’Tsk, this bastard.’

The system knew exactly what Kael was talking about—yet it chose to defer the question to the federal teleportation department, who were in charge of all teleportation that went on in the Songrel Continent.

The closest branch was at least a hundred miles away from his current location.

"I meant for the teleportation assist to Renodin," he said exasperatedly.

[Calculating amount...]

[That would be 1000 gold coins.]

"Can’t I get a discount?" Kael winked weirdly at the notification. A thousand coins was simply too difficult to acquire in a short period of time—he would have to take on numerous C-rank quests and above.

[...]

He got no reply.

’I guess I will have to do this the hard way,’ he hissed.

He walked to the edge of the cliff—his narrow light-purple pupils drifted down to see the ground thirty feet away.

A cocky smile crept across his face—then he turned around, his back facing directly towards the edge.

He spread both hands wide open—after a deep breath, Kael leaped off the edge.

He fell fast with his head facing down. Just as his head was about to collide with the ground and turn to chum, he flipped his body over and landed on his two feet unscathed.

Kael did something that required a superhuman physique—which he also possessed since he was in a fantastical world after all.

’Nailed it!’

He threw a fist up in excitement. After his fleeting moment of excitement, he started to walk towards the village. Unlike other villages that were rundown and built solely with wood.

Trion looked more similar to a town than a village.

"Good morning."

As usual, he was greeted by one of the two guards stationed in front of the city gate.

"Sorry for your loss. Your mother was a wonderful woman."

The other guard stood on the left side of the gate and shared words of empathy.

"Thank you very much," Kael replied.

"Have a nice day."

He walked past them and entered the village.

As per usual, the streets were bustling with idle chatter, the latest gossip, the clamouring of hammers on steel swords, and villagers negotiating prices with passing merchants.

Kael headed straight for the Hunters Guild. He reached the footsteps of the guild after breaking through the very stiff crowd.

The instant he stepped foot in the guild, everyone ceased what they were doing—the receptionist stopped attending to hunters for a second, the other hunters’ laughter muted, and the cleaners stopped mopping.

He didn’t receive cheers or anything of the sort—only death stares and insane amounts of killing intent. It was obvious he wasn’t welcomed in the guild.

’Good to see that this shithole hasn’t changed one single tiny bit.’

Kael didn’t give a damn about them—he saw them as a sore bunch of pained losers.

His feet echoed on the floorboards, his movements slowed as if a slow-motion spell had been cast on him.

"I would like to re-register for the guild."

The moment he uttered those words, a bald man with a full beard stood from his chair. He was so huge and tall that the shadow he cast completely covered Kael.

"You have some nerve coming back here after you quit."

The bald man clenched his teeth.

"Yeah, some nerve he has."

The other hunters chuckled in agreement.

"It has been at least a year since I left." Kael looked up at the bald man—his eyes filled with disdain.

"Yet you are still the strongest one here. What an utter disappointment.... Not that I would expect anything better from this shithole."

The laughter of the others ceased. Kael’s words were brutal and sure as hell were a huge slap to their egos.

"You goddamn bastard!—"

"You think you can come in here and mock me?" the bald man yelped.

"Ehhh... yes," Kael replied immediately with zero remorse.

The bald man curled his fingers into a huge fist and thrashed it down along with a gust of wind.

"Remember... fighting is prohibited in here."

A shady-looking old man stepped out from the shadows.

"But, Guild Master—"

"Would you like to be suspended again?"

The Guild Master insisted.

"Tsk... this isn’t over." The bald hunter grunted and walked away.

"Guild Master, as I told you earlier, Mr. Quitter would like to rejoin the guild—"

"But if you asked for my personal opinion, I would say we should throw him out."

The receptionist, Susan, had a lot to get off her chest.

"Lest, he didn’t ask for it," Kael sneered.

’This fucking prick,’ Susan muttered to herself.

"I hear you would like to rejoin the guild?"

The Guild Master asked in his usual shrewd tone.

"Ehhh... yes," Kael replied.

"Why don’t we head on into my office?"

He made a hand gesture telling Kael to follow after him.

"Susan... maintain your post."

The receptionist was eager to join them, but the Guild Master knew her intentions, so he stopped her right in her tracks.

"Bu—"

She received a strong wave of killing intent from the Guild Master that shut her up instantly.

Kael made his way into the office and sat down comfortably on a chair—legs crossed.

"You sure have made yourself at home," the Guild Master said as he pulled out his chair and sat.

"Get to the point. I am short on flattery points."

Kael kept a calm and collected expression, but he was boiling within.

"Sure. Since you are back, I suppose you are ready to accept my offer?"

The Guild Master brought out some documents from his drawer.

’This sly bastard is still at it again.’

This was the same deal that caused him to leave the guild about a year ago.
