Chapter 16: Saga 16—This is Why You NEVER GO ON FIELD ...TRIPS! II
Three days passed in a blur. By 7:30 a.m. sharp, the third-year students were all lined up in the teleportation hall. Usually, none of them came this early when they were having normal classes. But today, the excitement of dipping in the best hot spring throughout the Kingdom of Reinburg woke them from bed.
Only the who’s who got to go there, but even they had to wait a few months before their appointments went through due to the fact that the place was packed all day, every day, and they had a limited amount of vacancies, about a thousand or so.
Chatters of the excited students filled the hall. Kael and the student council leaders had just arrived a few minutes to 8:00 a.m.
"Seriously... Do you guys need to buy so much stuff?!" Yuki exclaimed.
"Of course we did." An entire truckload of stuff floated behind Claire.
"Don’t bother with them, Claire... They won’t understand even if it hit them in the face." Sylvia dragged two huge boxes with each hand.
Kael knew better than to share his thoughts on the matter. Kael’s, Yuki’s, and Harriden’s stuff combined didn’t reach half of either Sylvia’s or Claire’s luggage.
"We were almost late because of you guys...." Harriden let out an exhausted sigh.
"But we made it, didn’t we?" Sylvia and Claire mumbled.
"Yeah, and now we are stuck at the very back.... We most probably would be the last group to get teleported." Harriden sighed.
They all came late because Claire and Sylvia insisted they needed to buy more things, or else they wouldn’t survive a week...
Now they were all trapped at the very edge of the hall. According to what happened last time, the people in the front would get teleported first while those at the back would get teleported last.
Kael still didn’t say a word; he was just happy to be there at this point.
A loud clap echoed throughout the teleportation hall that caused the students to keep quiet.
"Hello, students.... Professor Adian."
Adian rubbed his grin in a carefree manner as he chuckled. Stillwell walked alongside him onto the teleportation platform.
"Students, please coordinate yourselves and line up in straight rows." As usual, Stillwell went directly into business. The students shuffled into straight rows.
As expected, Kael, Sylvia, Harriden, Claire, and Yuki literally made up the last row.
"You all know the deal." Stillwell’s voice boomed.
"See you all on the flip side." Adian waved a hand in the air.
The teleportation platform activated. Blue lines spilled forth from the platform, connecting to the ruins on the walls. The platform itself served as a conduit to allow the channeling of mana on a large scale.
"Serviuos Cardinaia." Adian and Stillwell chanted in sync. Blue lights descended from the spell circles that appeared above each of the students’ heads and beamed them away one after the other. Soon enough, only a few rows remained.
"Arghhhh, this is taking forever." Claire grunted.
"But it’s your fault." Yuki and Harriden yelped.
"Okay... okay, everyone, that’s enough." Sylvia tried to calm them down.
Eventually, it got to their turn.
"Finally!" Yuki muttered. The blue light descended from the magic circle and beamed them all away.
"Now it’s our turn." Adian grew a fist in the air.
"Suit yourself!" Stillwell teleported away.
"How mean!" The blue light beamed Adian away.
They all found themselves in front of a wooden gate and stone walls that extended as far as the eye could see.
This was the Sumbiya Hot Springs, and just like the rooms, it was like a semi or mini town on its own.
The small side gate opened, and a guard clad in incomplete light metallic armour stepped out.
"You must be from the Renodin Regal Academy. It’s an honour to have one of the Four Aspects in our established vacation resort. The master will be very pleased to meet you." The guard lowered his head slightly.
The Renodin Regal Academy’s very name carried heavy weight. Just showing that one graduated from the academy immediately placed them as B-rank hunters. It could even earn them some favours.
As one of the Four Aspects, which included the four most distinguished and strongest academies in the entire world, Renodin students commanded some level of respect wherever they went.
"Thank you for having us," Stillwell replied with a polite tone. The main reason their appointment got accepted for such a large number was because the academy headmaster was a shareholder in the establishment, and the owner of the place was also an old friend of the vice headmaster.
The guard went back inside to open the large gate. "You may all come in."
"Now, students, you will all be placed in rooms of six—" Adian snapped his fingers, and a set number of keys appeared above groups of students.
"Boys and girls will separate, obviously, but that doesn’t stop you from taking care of your sexual urges. You can even—"
Stillwell struck him on the chest before he could make any more preposterous statements.
"Ouch!" Adian held his tummy.
"Once you have chosen your roommates, you may proceed to your rooms with cushio—"
She hadn’t finished when the students stormed into the resort. Her voice faded in the noise.
"Hey, hey. Come ba—" Adian held her hand. "Don’t sweat it. They are all adults after all."
"Tsk! Until they decide to burn this place down." Stillwell forcefully removed her hand from Adian’s grip as she walked away.
Adian made his way towards Kael and the other student council leaders.
"I’m sure you would be wondering why a key didn’t appear above your heads." He brought a golden key from his pocket.
"I reserved a room specially for you guys—" His gaze fell on Kael.
"And I created an extra vacancy for one." He smiled and then vanished into thin air.
The student council leaders were hardly surprised by his gesture. Kael, on the other hand, was a bit shocked but managed to maintain a calm facial expression.
"The largest room!" Claire threw a hand in the air.
"Not if I get there first." Harriden vanished into dark smoke.
"You bloody bastard!" Claire ran after him.
