Chapter 132: Extra Two Hundred

The moment Cecilia saw Leon, her face lit up.

"Leon! Help me! Please!" she cried, tears streaming down her face. "These scumbags are trying to ruin me!"

Her sobs sounded genuine. Either she was truly in danger... or she was just that good at acting. There was no flaw in her expression.

"Hah! So you know this girl, huh?"

The scar-faced man, who appeared to be the leader, sneered. "Let me guess." He started walking toward Leon with a smug grin. "You’re thinking of playing the hero, aren’t you? Save the damsel in distress, earn her gratitude, and maybe even get the girl?"

He stopped right in front of Leon.

"But let me give you a piece of advice, kid." His smile turned vicious. "If you interfere with what we’re doing, you’ll be crawling out of this alley."

He raised his hand and repeatedly patted Leon’s cheek in mockery.

Leon’s brows furrowed. Before the man could even react...

Leon’s fist shot forward, burying itself deep into the man’s solar plexus.

Thud!

Even beneath the sound of the pouring rain, a dull thud echoed clearly through the alley. The scar-faced leader’s body flew backward like a cannonball. The other three hurriedly jumped aside, not wanting to become pins before a bowling ball.

The man’s body slammed into a parked car in the distance. Every window shattered at once.

"Wee-ooo! Wee-ooo!"

The car alarm blared loudly.

Combined with the relentless rain, the siren sounded eerily like a funeral bell echoing through the silent alley.

The remaining three hooligans stared at Leon in stunned disbelief. One of them even rubbed his eyes, wondering if he was dreaming.

The bulky man was the first to recover.

"How dare you, brat!" he roared as he charged forward. "Do you even know who we are? We’re members of the Black Axe..."

He didn’t get to finish.

Leon calmly raised his left hand, his expression as indifferent as if he were reading today’s weather report.

"Ice Ball."

A smooth sphere of ice instantly materialized before him and shot forward.

Bang!

It slammed directly into the bulky man’s face.

Crack!

The sound of bones breaking rang out clearly despite the heavy rain. Blood sprayed through the air as the man’s body was sent flying backward. freewebnøvel.com

Before the remaining two could even react, Leon had already appeared before them.

It wasn’t just his strength that had increased. His speed had risen dramatically as well.

For hunters, physical ability wasn’t measured by strength alone. Speed, agility, endurance, balance, and explosive power were all equally important.

Most awakened specialized in only one area.

Tanks possessed extraordinary endurance.

Warriors focused on overwhelming strength.

Assassins mostly relied on incredible speed.

Leon, however, was different. Every aspect of his physique was improving simultaneously. Although his endurance still lagged behind some of his other attributes, both his strength and speed had already reached the level of an A-Class Knight.

A terrifying combination.

Bam!

Bam!

Leon threw two punches at the same time. Each fist buried itself deep into one of the men’s stomachs.

"Blarghhh!"

"Blarghhh!"

The two hooligans collapsed unconscious without even getting another chance to fight.

’Weaklings,’ Leon thought. ’They aren’t even comparable to a D-Class hunter, yet they were acting as though they were from a famous guild.’

Cecilia slowly pushed herself to her feet. Her entire body was drenched by the rain. Her soaked clothes clung tightly to her figure, outlining every curve.

But Leon’s gaze never wandered. He looked only at her face.

"Leon... thank you so much." Her voice trembled as another stream of tears rolled down her cheeks. "If you hadn’t arrived, then..." She couldn’t continue. Instead, she took a step toward him.

"I knew you still loved me." A faint smile appeared on her face. "I already broke up with Nick, so now we can..."

Leon cut her off. "Sorry, but I think you’ve misunderstood something."

Cecilia froze.

"Still love you? Where did that come from?"

"W-What do you mean?" She asked. "Are you saying... you don’t?"

"Isn’t it obvious?" Leon replied calmly. "Why would I keep chasing someone who rejected my feelings and chose to be with someone else?"

He looked at her without a hint of emotion.

"There’s nothing wrong with pursuing the person you love. Waiting for someone you love till the end sounds really touching and all. But staying heartbroken over someone who’s already happily in love with another person..." He shook his head. "That’s not romantic. That’s called being a simp. And I was anything but a simp."

"No. You’re lying. Otherwise, why would you save me?" She walked closer, trying to grab Leon’s hand.

But Leon took a step back, avoiding her touch.

"Did you hit your head somewhere or something?" Leon asked. "I saved you because that’s the normal thing to do when someone is in danger. If it had been a boy instead, would that mean I have feelings for him? Or should I not help someone just because he’s a boy? Be real, Cecilia. If there’s nothing else, I’m leaving."

Without sparing her another glance, Leon turned around and started walking away.

’Is she nuts?’ He mused inwardly.

"Maybe she’s just attracted to the person you’ve become, Master," Noira’s voice echoed in his mind. "After all, what girl wouldn’t be attracted to someone as intimidating as you?"

"There’s nothing wrong with falling for someone because they are capable," Leon replied inwardly. "But leaving the person you’re already with for someone better... that’s called being a gold digger. And I don’t like gold diggers."

Meanwhile, Cecilia’s expression darkened as she stood there in silence.

The scar-faced leader slowly got to his feet and walked toward her, rubbing his aching chest.

"I’m charging an extra two hundred for that beating," he complained. "That guy didn’t hold back at all. You know, if we had actually been weak instead of acting, we’d be dead by now."

"Extra two hundred my foot!" Cecilia snapped, stomping her foot in anger. Her eyes remained fixed on Leon’s retreating figure, which had already become nothing more than a tiny dot in the distance.

’Just you wait, Leon,’ she thought.
