Chapter 50: Chapter 50: Dawn of the Bloodflare Reincarnation
Not long after Orpheus, Sylvara, and Zarek left, Ryutaro finally regained consciousness.
However, once awake, he appeared to be in a panic, as if he had just heard something alarming.
Lilith, noticing Ryutaro’s distressed state, asked him, "Oni-chan, you’re awake! What happened to you, Oni-chan?"
"Eh, it’s nothing. I was just hearing something very shocking," Ryutaro replied.
Grace, overhearing their conversation, inquired about what could possibly be so shocking to cause Ryutaro to act that way.
"What shocking thing made you like this?" Grace asked.
"But before that, I want to ask you, is everyone here?" Ryutaro responded.
"Why? Does it have something to do with the shocking thing?" Grace replied.
"Well, something like that, that’s why I’m asking," Ryutaro said.
"Ah, I see. Wait a moment, let me check," Grace said.
After saying that, Grace quickly checked if everyone was present.
"Hmmm... it’s just me, Aurelia, Rin, Lilith, Alice, and Miyuki here," Grace reported.
Ryutaro was shocked upon hearing this.
"What? Then where is Charlotte?" Ryutaro asked.
Rin immediately answered Ryutaro’s question.
"I told her to stay inside the car," Rin said.
Ryutaro quickly rushed toward the car. ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm
The women, watching Ryutaro’s reaction, began to exchange concerned glances.
"Why is he acting like this? Did he hear something so big that it made him panic?" Grace wondered.
"It seems like you’re right. I have a feeling that’s what’s going on," Aurelia said.
"By the way, Rin, do you know anything or have a guess as to why Ryutaro is like this?" Miyuki asked.
"Hmmm, let me think... I think I might have an idea, but I’m not sure if it’s what Ryutaro heard," Rin said.
"So, we’ll just have to wait for him to finish checking, huh?" Miyuki said.
"Yeah, it’s safer for us to wait for him to finish," Rin agreed.
Everyone waited for Ryutaro.
After some time, Ryutaro returned, having checked if Charlotte was still in the car.
"So, did she still have to be there?" Grace asked.
"No, she’s not in the car. Ugh, why did she disappear like that?" Ryutaro said.
"Calm down, Ryutaro. You haven’t even told us what happened yet. Don’t make us panic too," Aurelia advised.
"Yeah, you suddenly asked if everyone was here, and when Rin said Charlotte was in the car, you rushed off," Grace pointed out.
Hearing Grace’s words, Ryutaro took a deep breath to calm himself.
"(Deep breath) You’re right, I was just too panicked," Ryutaro admitted.
"That’s more like it! Now, can you tell us what really happened?" Aurelia asked.
"Alright, I’ll explain," Ryutaro said.
Ryutaro began to tell them what had caused him so much distress.
"A while ago..." Ryutaro began.
"Why did you call me here? Does it have anything to do with the red light?" Ryutaro asked his father.
"Yes, it’s related to the red light," his father responded.
"If so, what exactly is that light?" Ryutaro asked.
"That red light signals that something very big is about to happen," his father explained.
"Ha? Please explain in terms I can understand, father," Ryutaro said.
"The red light is emitted by the demonic sword Bloodflare. It was once the weapon of my old comrade, Valen. He was once a Paladin," his father revealed.
"Ha? How could a Paladin wield a demonic sword? And I still don’t understand what Bloodflare is," Ryutaro said, confused.
"Bloodflare is a demonic sword that drains the blood and soul of its wielder until there’s nothing left. The reason Valen, who was a Paladin, could wield it is because he once had a regenerative skill called Crimson Rebirth, which allowed him to constantly recover both blood and soul," his father explained.
"Oh, I see. So what does the red light and the earthquake have to do with this sword?" Ryutaro asked.
"It’s because someone released the seal Valen placed on it before he died," his father said.
"Ha? He’s dead? I thought he was like Rin, who could live a long time," Ryutaro said.
"Clearly, it’s different. If you want to know, Rin is an elf, so she has a much longer lifespan. Valen, however, was human, like me," his father clarified.
Ryutaro was taken aback by the revelation that Rin was an elf.
"Ha? She’s an elf? But as far as I know, elves have pointy ears, and Rin doesn’t have that," Ryutaro said.
"That’s because she’s a half-elf. That’s why she doesn’t have the pointed ears you associate with elves," his father explained.
"Oh, I see. So, father, you said someone opened the seal of Bloodflare. Is there someone who can easily do that?" Ryutaro asked.
"There is, if it’s Valen’s reincarnation. With just their blood, they could open the seal," his father explained.
"Reincarnation? Do you know who Valen’s reincarnation is?" Ryutaro asked.
"How would I know? I’m not a reincarnate myself, but I suspect it might be one of your wives," his father said.
"Ha? Why do you think that?" Ryutaro asked.
"I don’t know, it’s just a guess," his father admitted.
Hearing this, Ryutaro finally asked the one question that had been nagging at him.
"By the way, there’s one thing I’ve been meaning to ask you, father," Ryutaro said.
"What is it?" his father asked.
"What happens to the reincarnation after they open the sword’s seal?" Ryutaro asked.
"Well, they’ll gain tremendous power, but they’ll have to endure its side effects. As I told you, when Valen first found the sword, he had trouble controlling it because it had a consciousness of its own," his father explained.
"A sword with a consciousness of its own? No wonder it’s so powerful. So, if someone fails to control it, what happens?" Ryutaro asked.
"As I said before, the user will lose their blood and soul, but there’s something even more terrifying. They’ll become a vessel for the sword. In other words, the person will no longer be the same," his father warned.
"Oh, I see," Ryutaro said.
After a lengthy conversation with his father, Ryutaro suddenly felt a wave of unease.
"Why do I suddenly feel so uneasy? This is really unsettling," Ryutaro said.
"You’re feeling uneasy? Hmm, it’s best you return, my son. I’m afraid that, as I said, one of the people close to you might be the reincarnation," his father warned.
"It seems like that’s true. I need to go back quickly. I’m worried about what you said. If the reincarnation is one of my closest people, I fear they might fail," Ryutaro said.
"You’re right. Go now, but I have one piece of advice," his father said.
"What’s the advice?" Ryutaro asked.
"You’ve met the legendary shovel, right?" his father asked.
"Yes, when I first came to this forest, I met it. Why do you ask?" Ryutaro responded.
"Good. Before you go, take it with you. It might help when you get to that location," his father suggested.
"Ha? What could a shovel do against a demonic sword?" Ryutaro said, puzzled.
"Just take it. I’ll guide you," his father urged.
"Alright, I’ll take it. I’m going now," Ryutaro said.
After bidding his father farewell, Ryutaro returned to the real world.
Back in the present...
"So that’s the reason I panicked," Ryutaro explained.
"Oh, I see. If what you said is true, we need to go there immediately and confirm if it’s Charlotte or not," Grace said.
"Right, we should get there before it’s too late. Orpheus and the others are already there," Aurelia agreed.
"And if it’s true, that’s really bad, right?" Alice asked.
"Yes, if they’ve already taken control of Charlotte, they might try to kill her, or worse, try to take her power for themselves," Miyuki said.
"What Miyuki said is true. Even though we’re at peace for now, there’s no guarantee they won’t cause trouble again. After all, they’re a very evil group," Ryutaro pointed out.
After saying this, they all prepared to head toward the red light. But before they left, Ryutaro went into his house to grab the legendary shovel, as his father had instructed.
"Well, you guys go ahead. I’ll grab the shovel my father mentioned," Ryutaro said.
"Alright, but don’t take too long," Grace said.
The women headed toward the red light, leaving Ryutaro behind.
A short time later, after the women had left, Ryutaro entered his house to fetch the shovel.
"Hmm, where did I put the shovel? I feel like it was next to the door," Ryutaro muttered.
After searching in several places, he finally found it.
"There it is! Now, let’s grab it and catch up with them," Ryutaro said.
As Ryutaro touched the shovel, it suddenly spoke.
"So, you remember me, huh?" the shovel said.
"Sorry, I haven’t been paying attention to you because I’ve been focused on other things," Ryutaro apologized.
"(Sighs) Well, it seems you’ve found happiness in this world, compared to when we first met," the shovel responded.
"Heh, sorry about that," Ryutaro chuckled.
The shovel didn’t respond further, so Ryutaro took it and left, heading toward the location of the red light.
What will they find there? Has Charlotte successfully controlled the sword, or is it the other way around? And what is the true reason behind Ryutaro’s father’s suggestion to bring the shovel? Find out in the next Chapter!
