Chapter 49: Chapter 49: The Awakening of Bloodflare

Just before the red light appeared, Charlotte quickly headed towards the red light, which seemed as if it had always been a part of her.

She ventured deeper into the forest, but upon reaching the center, she discovered an underground cave, and the red light entered the cave.

"What is that? Why did the red light go in that direction?" Charlotte said.

After thinking for a moment, she decided to enter the underground cave.

"Well, I’ll go in first. If there’s any danger, I’ll leave," Charlotte said.

Charlotte entered the cave cautiously, trying to avoid any traps inside.

Inside the cave, it was very dark and damp.

"Isn’t there any lighting around here?" Charlotte said.

Charlotte searched for light sources throughout the cave for a long time but found nothing.

"Seriously? How long have I been looking around but still can’t find any light?" Charlotte said.

She continued her search until she finally found the red light she had seen earlier.

"Ah, there’s the red light I saw earlier," Charlotte said.

Charlotte quickly approached the red light, but as she got closer, the light moved away as if guiding her to a certain place.

Eventually, the red light stopped in front of a massive door in the middle of the cave.

"What is this? Why is there a door in the middle of the cave? Is it safe for me to go in?" Charlotte said.

Charlotte thought for a moment whether she should go in or leave the cave to report the door to Ryutaro.

However, as she was thinking, a voice came from inside the door.

"Come here and free me," the voice said.

"Who are you? Why are you calling me? Is the red light coming from you?" Charlotte asked.

"You’ll know once you open this door," the voice responded.

Charlotte pondered the voice’s words, but her curiosity grew even stronger about what was behind the door.

"Answer me first, is it safe to open this door?" Charlotte asked.

"Don’t worry, you’re safe. I guarantee it," the voice replied.

"Alright, I’ll open it, but you better keep your word," Charlotte said.

"Fine, fine, you can hold me to my word," the voice said.

After hearing the voice’s assurance, Charlotte opened the door.

Behind the door was a glowing red sword, bound by several chains.

"See, I told you you’d be safe just by opening the door," the sword said.

"So the voice came from you, huh, sword?" Charlotte asked.

"Yes, that was my voice, but please don’t call me ’sword.’ My name is Bloodflare Epitaph," the sword replied.

After learning the sword’s name, Charlotte asked why it had brought her here.

"Alright, Bloodflare, why did you bring me here?" Charlotte asked.

"Of course, I want to make a deal with you," Bloodflare said.

"A deal? What kind of deal?" Charlotte asked.

"You free me from these chains, and I’ll give you power. How about that?" Bloodflare proposed.

"Huh? Don’t joke around. How could I free you from these chains? And you seem very suspicious," Charlotte replied.

"I figured you’d say that. Well, to prove I’m not suspicious, how about I ask you something?" Bloodflare suggested.

"What do you want to ask me?" Charlotte asked.

"Do you know the name Valen Ignarion?" Bloodflare asked.

Upon hearing that name, Charlotte was taken aback because she knew it wasn’t the name of just anyone.

"I know him. He was the first paladin of the church I once served, and he disappeared mysteriously," Charlotte replied.

"Don’t you find it suspicious that I know that name?" Bloodflare asked.

"Huh? How could you know that name? Could it be...?" Charlotte trailed off.

"Yes, he was my master. He and I fought together for a long time against the god Xerathos," Bloodflare explained.

After hearing Bloodflare’s confession, Charlotte asked more to ensure its truth.

"So, if you’re really Valen’s sword, why did he disappear?" Charlotte asked.

"He didn’t disappear, he died," Bloodflare revealed.

"Died? How did he die?" Charlotte asked.

"He died because he accidentally walked into an enemy trap," Bloodflare said.

"An enemy trap? Didn’t he bring his troops with him? With his strength and leadership, he should have easily escaped," Charlotte said.

"Well, he should have, but it was because of his own troops that he walked into the trap. His troops betrayed him," Bloodflare explained.

"Betrayed? Why did they betray him? Didn’t the church suspect something about his death?" Charlotte asked.

"Of course not. Do you think those troops would betray him without orders?" Bloodflare replied.

"So you mean the church was already corrupt from the start?" Charlotte asked.

"You’re right. They sacrificed Valen to serve Xerathos," Bloodflare admitted.

Upon hearing this, Charlotte believed the sword.

"Alright, I believe you. So how do I break these chains?" Charlotte asked.

"It’s easy. Just drip your blood onto the chains, and they will break on their own. But remember, once they break, a red light will soar into the sky, and there will be a small earthquake," Bloodflare warned.

"Huh? Why would it be that extreme?" Charlotte asked.

"Well, these chains were made by Valen to seal me, and only his reincarnation can break them. He did this to announce to the world that he has returned," Bloodflare explained.

"So you mean I’m his reincarnation?" Charlotte asked.

"Of course, you are his reincarnation. Otherwise, why would I bother bringing you here?" Bloodflare replied.

"Ah, that makes sense. No wonder the red light felt familiar to me. Alright, I’ll break the chains," Charlotte said.

As Charlotte dripped her blood onto the chains, as Bloodflare had said, a red light shot up into the sky, and the ground trembled after the chains broke.

Meanwhile, on Ryutaro’s side:

Ryutaro, feeling the earthquake, decided to stop fighting Orpheus.

"So, we’re stopping for now?" Ryutaro asked.

"Alright, if the earthquake stops and nothing happens, we’ll continue," Orpheus replied.

Soon after, a red light soared into the sky.

"Whoa, what’s that? Do you recognize that light, Ryutaro?" Orpheus asked.

Ryutaro didn’t answer because he had already been called by his father.

"Father, why did you call me? Is something wrong with the earthquake?" Ryutaro asked.

"Yes, I know about the earthquake. It’s the moment when the seal on my old comrade’s sword is broken," Ryutaro’s father explained.

"Huh? Comrade, sword? What do you mean, father?" Ryutaro asked.

While Ryutaro listened to his father’s explanation, his women and their opponent arrived at their location, except for Valerius, who had been knocked out by Rin earlier, and Rin and Lilith, who were trailing behind.

"What’s going on? Why did the earthquake suddenly happen?" Grace asked.

"And what did you do to Ryutaro?" Alice asked.

"Don’t misunderstand. We stopped fighting because of the earthquake, but when I was asking him earlier, he stayed silent," Orpheus explained.

Upon hearing Orpheus, Ryutaro’s women already guessed what had happened to him.

"It seems like that, right, Aurelia?" Grace asked.

"Yeah, it seems like it," Aurelia agreed.

"What are you guys talking about?" Orpheus asked.

"Nothing, let’s go figure out what that red light is," Grace said.

"You’re right," Aurelia agreed. frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓

Soon after, Zarek and Sylvara urged Orpheus to go to the red light. freewebnovel.cσ๓

"Let’s go to the light first," Sylvara suggested.

"Alright, I’m getting bored here," Zarek said.

"I’m curious about that light too," Orpheus added.

The three of them went to the red light’s location.

Shortly after, Rin and Lilith arrived at Ryutaro’s group.

Lilith immediately ran towards Ryutaro.

"Oni-chan, I’m here!" Lilith said.

But Ryutaro remained silent, still speaking with his father.

"Oni-chan, why are you so quiet?" Lilith asked.

Grace approached Lilith to comfort Alice, who was on the verge of tears.

"Don’t worry, oni-chan is fine. He just has a small matter to handle. He’ll wake up soon," Grace reassured.

"Is that true?" Lilith asked.

"Yes," Grace confirmed.

Lilith wiped her tears, reassured by Grace’s words.

Not long after, Ryutaro woke up, his face slightly panicked.

What caused his panic? Was it good news or bad news? And what will happen when Charlotte holds the sword? Stay tuned for the next Chapter in Chapter 50!
