Chapter 40: Chapter 40: The Technique of Sanctuary
As they were on their way back to the Rossete Castle in a car recently purchased by Ryutaro using his points from the shop system, Ryutaro’s father suddenly spoke to him.
"By the way, son, just to be cautious, I will teach you a technique," said Ryutaro’s father.
"Cautious? From whom?" Ryutaro asked.
"Of course, from the spies of the Children of Ruin who are near the Rossete Castle," his father replied.
"Oh right, you mentioned that earlier. Well, please teach me the technique," said Ryutaro.
Ryutaro’s father then began teaching him a technique.
"Alright, listen carefully. The name of this technique is Sanctuary of the First Light. I used this technique in the past to neutralize negative effects," said Ryutaro’s father.
"Negative effects? Like what, Father?" Ryutaro asked.
"Like mind control, poison, and curses," said his father.
"Oh, does this technique only affect me?" Ryutaro asked.
"Of course not. As long as you consider someone an ally and that ally has no hidden intentions, they will also be affected by it," Ryutaro’s father explained.
"I see. Please teach me, Father," said Ryutaro.
"Alright, listen closely to this technique," his father said.
Grace, sitting next to Ryutaro, was puzzled by his silence. She tried to ask him.
"Darling, why have you been quiet this whole time? What’s going on?" Grace asked.
However, Ryutaro remained silent, focused on practicing the technique his father had given him.
Aurelia, sitting near Grace, gave her thoughts on why Ryutaro had been quiet.
"Hmm, maybe he’s talking with his father," said Aurelia.
Miyuki, also near them, spoke up.
"That’s true. Since his father said the spies are around the castle, maybe he’s discussing plans with his father, or maybe he’s learning a new technique to deal with the spies in Rossete," said Miyuki.
"Hmm, maybe you’re right, Miyuki. I was just too worried about him," said Grace.
"Don’t worry, we all care about him," said Aurelia.
"That’s right," said Miyuki.
They all sighed in relief after hearing Miyuki’s words.
Aurelia then noticed Alice, who had been staring at her father’s body. Suddenly, Alice spoke.
"What’s wrong, Alice? Are you still thinking about who really killed your father?" Aurelia asked.
"Actually, there’s something else I’ve been thinking about, besides wondering who the murderer is," Alice said, still gazing at her father’s body.
"Oh, if you don’t mind sharing, what are you thinking?" Aurelia asked.
"Before that, I want to ask you all what you think about the spies around the castle," Alice said.
The atmosphere in the car immediately became serious due to Alice’s question.
They all began sharing their opinions on who the spies around the castle could be.
"Hmm, I don’t want to accuse anyone without proof, but if I had to suspect someone, I would suspect the castle servants," Grace said.
Alice, hearing Grace’s opinion, asked why she suspected the servants.
"Why do you suspect the servants, Grace?" Alice asked.
"Because when we first arrived here, I felt their gaze was suspicious. That’s why I suspect them," Grace explained.
"Hmm, now that I think about it, you’re right. Charlotte even shivered from the servant’s gaze," Aurelia added.
Because Aurelia mentioned Charlotte, Charlotte, who was at Rossete Castle, sneezed as Aurelia was talking about her.
Alice, hearing Grace’s opinion, nodded in agreement.
"So, you suspect the servants because their gaze gave you chills?" Alice asked.
"Yes, but it’s just my personal opinion, as we have no proof that they’re the culprits," Grace clarified.
"Alright, so what do you all think about the spies near the castle?" Alice asked.
Aurelia gave her opinion on Alice’s question, though her reasoning was a bit far-fetched.
"Hmm, I think it’s the healer who treated your father," Aurelia said.
Like Grace, Alice asked Aurelia why she suspected the healer.
"Why do you suspect the healer?" Alice asked.
"Just imagine, when Ryutaro managed to heal your father, the healer suddenly asked Ryutaro to be his disciple," Aurelia explained.
"And that’s all? You think that’s suspicious?" Alice asked.
"Of course! Maybe after learning everything from Ryutaro, he could have used the magic Ryutaro knows to set up an incident and frame him, right?" Aurelia reasoned.
Grace, who had been holding back her frustration, finally hit Aurelia on the head after hearing her reasoning.
"(Hits Aurelia on the head) You’re so stupid, what are you even saying?" Grace exclaimed.
"(Rubbing her head) Ouch! I was just sharing my opinion," Aurelia responded.
"(Sighs at Aurelia’s behavior) Don’t you remember what Ryutaro’s father said? He said the spies are near the castle. The healer was gone long before your father recovered," Grace reminded her.
"Oh right, I forgot about that. Sorry, everyone," Aurelia apologized.
They all laughed, seeing Aurelia’s behavior.
"Alright, enough laughing. Miyuki, what do you think about the spies around the castle?" Alice asked.
As Miyuki began to share her thoughts on the spies near the castle, the atmosphere grew even more serious.
"Before that, I want to apologize to you, Alice," Miyuki said.
"Oh, alright, it’s just your personal opinion, so feel free to say what you think, Miyuki," Alice replied.
"Well, according to my opinion, the one I suspect is your mother," Miyuki said.
"What do you mean by that, Miyuki?" Alice asked, surprised.
"Because, for some reason, I have a bad feeling about your mother," Miyuki explained.
"But don’t you remember how sad my mother was when my father was in a coma?" Alice countered.
"Of course I remember, but maybe that was just a trick to keep her actions hidden," Miyuki said.
"Do you think your accusation is just because you don’t like my mother?" Alice said, her voice growing angry.
"Of course I know. That’s why I apologized to you earlier, right?" Miyuki said.
"But you should have told me first if you were going to accuse my mother," Alice said, upset.
Before the situation could escalate, Grace quickly intervened to cool things down.
"Alright, enough fighting. Let’s not let a small issue tear us apart," Grace said.
"That’s right. We’re all Ryutaro’s women, so don’t let your personal issues make things harder for him later," Aurelia added.
Hearing their words, Alice and Miyuki apologized to each other.
"Sorry, Miyuki, for getting angry earlier. I should’ve known that it was just your opinion," Alice said.
"I’m sorry too for accusing your mother without thinking. I understand how you feel," Miyuki said.
"Good, now that you’re on good terms again, let’s wait for Ryutaro to finish talking to his father," Grace said.
They all nodded in agreement, waiting for Ryutaro.
A while later, the car stopped, and Ryutaro snapped out of his thoughts.
"Woah, we finally arrived! By the way, why have you all been quiet?" Ryutaro asked.
"It should be us asking you that. You went quiet all of a sudden without telling us you were talking to your father," Grace said.
"Yeah, you made us worried," Aurelia added.
They both nodded in agreement with Grace’s words.
"Sorry, sorry for making you worry. I was just learning a technique from my father because he was worried about me," Ryutaro explained.
"A technique? What kind of technique?" Grace asked. frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓
Before Ryutaro could answer, they were suddenly surrounded by troops from the Rossete Kingdom.
What happened to the Rossete Kingdom? What will Ryutaro do as they’re surrounded by the kingdom’s troops? And how are Charlotte and Alice’s mother, still in the castle, doing? Stay tuned for the next Chapter, Chapter 41!
