Chapter 29: Chapter 29: The Ring of Ascendancy

"Doing something? What exactly did they do to you?" Ryutaro asked.

"They threatened us with a group of assassins," said Alice’s father.

"That’s right. Alice couldn’t stand seeing us being threatened, so she reluctantly accepted the proposal," said Alice’s mother.

Upon hearing her parents’ explanation, Ryutaro seemed very angry, and without realizing it, he released his aura.

"How dare they do that? How dare they?!" Ryutaro shouted.

"Calm down, Ryutaro. Control your aura. I know you’re angry," Alex, who was inside Ryutaro, said.

Hearing Alex’s voice, Ryutaro immediately controlled his aura. freewebnoveℓ.com

"Sorry, I’m calm now," Ryutaro said.

Grace, who was beside him, asked Ryutaro what he was going to do.

"So, what are you going to do?" Grace asked.

"Isn’t it obvious? I’m going to bring her back," Ryutaro replied.

"I had a feeling you’d say that. Alright, we’ll come with you," Grace said.

"No, it’s better if you stay here. Let me go alone," Ryutaro insisted.

"Don’t be reckless. Do you think we’re helpless?" Grace replied.

"That’s right, we can protect ourselves," Aurelia added.

"And I’ll make sure the king and queen stay safe here," Charlotte said.

"Thank you all so much. Alright then, we’ll begin Alice’s rescue mission tomorrow," Ryutaro said.

"Understood."

They were all excited for Alice’s rescue the next day.

That night, Ryutaro was checking the shop in his system.

"Hmm, so if I make my wives happy, the currency in the shop will increase?" Ryutaro asked.

Correct. If the host makes his wives happy, the currency for purchasing items in the shop will increase. But if the host does something that displeases the wives, the currency will decrease

"Oh, in that case, I’ll be careful," Ryutaro said.

Just as he was checking the shop, a knock was heard from his room door.

"Knock knock."

"Who is it?" Ryutaro asked.

"It’s me, King Gilbert. I need to talk to you," said Alice’s father.

"Come in, the door’s not locked," Ryutaro replied.

Alice’s father entered the room.

"So, what do you want to talk about?" Ryutaro asked.

"It’s about Alice," Alice’s father said.

"I’ve already said I’ll go rescue her tomorrow," Ryutaro replied.

"I trust you on that, but that’s not what I want to talk about," Alice’s father said.

"If it’s not about that, what is it you want to discuss?" Ryutaro asked. freewёbn૦νeɭ.com

"I want to ask, you’re going to save my daughter, right? So, are you willing to marry her?" Alice’s father asked.

"I’ve already asked my other wives, and they said it’s fine," Ryutaro replied.

"Thank goodness. In that case, take this," Alice’s father said.

Ryutaro received a ring from Alice’s father.

"What is this?" Ryutaro asked.

"This is the Ring of Ascendancy. With it, you’ll become the next king of this kingdom," Alice’s father explained.

Ryutaro was taken aback by the unexpected gift.

"What? Why am I becoming the next king?" Ryutaro asked.

"Because you’re marrying my daughter, you’ll automatically become the next king," Alice’s father said.

"But I’ve never done anything like this before," Ryutaro said.

"It doesn’t matter. Don’t your wives already act as queens? They’ll surely help you," Alice’s father said.

"That’s right. We’ll help you lead the kingdom," Grace added.

"Since when were you here?" Ryutaro asked, surprised.

"Just now. I was heading to the bathroom when I overheard your conversation," Grace replied.

"So, what’s your answer, Ryutaro?" Alice’s father asked.

Ryutaro thought about Alice’s father’s request, as he had never ruled a kingdom before.

"Hmm... Alright, I accept," Ryutaro finally said.

He slipped the ring onto his finger, and suddenly, his consciousness was transported to a different place.

"Where is this?" Ryutaro asked.

"I’m not sure, but we’re definitely in a different place," Alex said.

"Wait, you’re here too?" Ryutaro asked.

"Of course, I’m part of you," Alex replied.

"Oh right, I forgot about that," Ryutaro said.

As Ryutaro and Alex explored, they suddenly stopped when they saw a mysterious figure.

"Finally, you’re here," the figure said.

"Who are you?" Ryutaro asked.

"I am Kevin, the first hero of this world," the figure replied.

"So, you’re Kevin? Why did you bring us here?" Ryutaro asked.

"Because there’s something I need to tell you," Kevin said.

"And what is that?" Ryutaro asked.

"Before that, let me tell you a story," Kevin said.

Kevin then began recounting his past to Ryutaro.

A thousand years ago...

I was battling the Demon King Darganthos.

"Let’s end it here, Hero Kevin," the Demon King Darganthos said.

"Alright, let’s end it," Kevin replied, raising his sword.

We fought fiercely until it reached its climax, and we both collapsed.

"You’re strong, Hero Kevin. How about we make a peace treaty?" the Demon King asked.

"Peace? What do you mean?" Kevin asked.

"I’m tired of this fight. I want to end it here so that my children and grandchildren don’t suffer like I did," the Demon King said.

"So that’s what you’re thinking? Alright then, let’s make peace," Kevin agreed.

After agreeing, the Demon King and I made peace, and in the days of peace that followed, he often visited me.

"You’re getting older, Kevin," Darganthos said.

"That’s because during this peaceful time, I haven’t done anything," Kevin replied.

"True, though these peaceful days are quite boring, at least they’re good, right?" Darganthos said.

"That’s true. By the way, why are you here again?" Kevin asked.

"Well, I was bored, so I came by. I heard you’re planning to build a kingdom, right? Have you thought of a name?" Darganthos asked.

"How about the Rossete Kingdom?" Kevin suggested.

"That’s a great name! So, when will you establish your kingdom?" Darganthos asked.

"Maybe next month. I plan to take over a kingdom known for its corruption and cruel treatment of its people," Kevin said.

"That’s a good plan. Let me know if you need any help," Darganthos said.

"Alright, but I fear you might be disappointed," Kevin replied.

A month later, I conquered a kingdom.

"Wait, please forgive me. I’ll give you everything—gold, silver, women," the king said, trembling in fear.

"You’ve tormented your people for far too long. You deserve to die," Kevin said.

With one swift strike, I killed the king.

"Now, this kingdom is mine," Kevin declared.

I immediately went to the kingdom’s peak to announce that the kingdom was now in my hands.

"Listen up, everyone. I have taken over this kingdom, and I will rename it the Rossete Kingdom. I promise to protect you all, so you will never suffer as you did under the previous king," Kevin announced.

After my speech, the people, who had initially been fearful, slowly began cheering.

"Long live the new king! Long live the Rossete Kingdom!"

"Long live the new king! Long live the Rossete Kingdom!"

"Long live the new king! Long live the Rossete Kingdom!"

Hundreds of years passed, and one day, while visiting my people...

"Good morning, Your Majesty," one of the citizens greeted me.

"Good morning. How are you all?" Kevin asked.

"We’re doing well, Your Majesty."

"Good. Keep taking care of yourselves," Kevin said.

I continued my rounds, and as I reached the kingdom gates, I saw a woman being chased by several people.

Who is this woman? What did Kevin do to her, and more importantly, what does Kevin’s past have to do with Ryutaro’s story? Stay tuned for the continuation in Chapter 30.
