Chapter 6: Chapter 06: Let Us Dance!

"Back off, Mikael", Orion muttered as he joined the others.

"Mikael," Vaelthiela’s voice pierced through the rising tension in the Hall, just like the Goddess. "You can’t win this fight."

Her voice was now a whisper, and her expression was painful. By now, the rest of the Sovereigns had all stood before him.

"You’re breaking the laws of cosmos, my child," the Goddess spoke softly, her voice filled with divine authority. "The rules I made are there for a reason and to maintain balance. They are not things to be disturbed so recklessly and on a whim."

Mikael’s eyes gleamed with cold rage he couldn’t even where it came from. His smile vanished.

Balance?

* * * * * * * *

SOMETIME IN THE PAST

"He must be destroyed, Aurora. I have reasons to suspect that the Sovereign of Voids has chanced upon the Old Gods Domain. There’s no telling what kind of ’revelation’ he must have received from that wretched place. He must be put down."

Mikael could not mistake the deep, bellowing voice of the Will of Heaven.

His trespass into the forbidden domain had been found out!

Still he dwelled, to hear what the goddess would say. He expected, hoped for Her to defend him. After all, the revelation was true, what he received and he could use it to the benefit of the Sovereigns. To help them grow. Of course he had kept it secret, unwillingly. But still it would be to their and his benefit.

"Hmmm, now this is depressing. But I must say, he is but a child compared to the rest of you. And his curiosity has always been the most out of you all." The Goddess paused. " Even if he is to be punished, I believe it should be something mild."

Aetherion sighed. " I must remind you what happened to the last Void Sovereign when you said to forgive him, Goddess." His voice deepened. " I shall not allow it this time around, Aurora. You shall not be blinded by affection again! I allowed you to create him as a replacement for DarkStar, but it would seem I was greatly mistaken in my decision."

"But-"

" I will not have it, Goddess." Aetherion sighed again.

"I shall inform the other Sovereigns, to discuss his trial."

" What if I made new one instead or.....or wipe Mikael’s memories of the -"

" No. That is the will of Heaven. I am sorry. But never again shall we have a Void Sovereign."

Mikael’s hope had been extremely crushed. Both from the Goddess not even putting in any effort to save him to the news of a predecessor like him, making him a mere replacement. The Goddess even wanted to wipe him clean, to start again?!

What then was he? Was his entire existence a mere a trial for a second chance at life the Goddess had failed to have? Did that mean that everything he was, desired were mere calibrations inserted into him as he was created?

Did that mean that Mikael never truly existed!?

Sitting on a rock in a majestic manner, the Creation Goddess, Aurora. His very own creator, mother.

The shock vanished as soon as it appeared, and he turned in the opposite direction, survival instincts kicking in instantly. Of there was anything he understood clearly, it was that the trial would surely end in the destruction of his being.

’Guess I got to find a way to escape this fate. I need a plan to survive.’ He stopped.

"Ah. I’ll draw attention to myself. Since they wants to destroy me, I’ll give them a helping hand."

His eyes glinted.

"Come forth, Leviathan."

A puff of black smoke appeared.

"Attack the mortal world, wreak unimaginable havoc on the place, enough to draw the wrath of the Celestial Realm.

I’m talking extinction level events. As soon as the Celestial forces arrive, return. Understood?"

" Yes, my lord."

The smoke vanished.

"That should keep them busy for a while. Time to get to the work of saving myself." He yawned, while stretching. His eternal smile and cheerful expression vanished. He had willed his body into maturity as he walked away. Luckily, the objects he held at the time had hidden his presence entirely from the two most powerful beings ever. So that means he stood a chance, of surviving!

And from that time, the survivor Mikael was born

* * * * *

"My most sincere apologies, but I am highly uninterested in your rules and laws, Aurora," Mikael replied, his voice like ice and an uninterested look on his face. "But then, I’m rather intrigued by the kind of power that lies in the ..... Domain."

He gave a halfhearted smile. ’That should move her a little.’

Aurora remained unmoved, contrary to his expectation.

"The universe does not bend to your whims, Sovereign of the Voids," she said, her tone a little hardened. "You dare not rewrite my rules."

Mikael grinned, his expression warm and cheerful . "Now we are getting somewhere."

"Like I said, my beloved Goddess, I’m not interested in your rules. I only desire freedom, transcendence. And I shall seek it, my way."

Without warning, he shot past the other Sovereigns, toward Aurora. With his scythe, he cut through the air, sending a slash of pure void energy that erased any and everything thing it came in contact with.

But Aurora merely waved her hand, destroying the strike.

The air around the scythe trembled.

Mikael’s smirk remained as the scythe hummed with dark energy, void energy.

The other Sovereigns had seen enough. Without waiting for further orders, five divine figures blurred into motion, their forms streaking across the hall now battlefield like stars.

Only the Lady Grief remained where she stood, with a pained expression.

The Sovereigns , the celestial beings of cosmic might, moved in unison and their clash was thunderous and deafening.

A golden spear shot toward Mikael’s heart. He twisted mid air, his scythe flashing. A deafening clang echoed as he parried the strike, sending golden sparks scattering. Before he could regain his balance, a silver chain coiled around his arm, attempting to bind him.

"Stop this at once,child!"

He clicked his tongue, turning to Vaelthiela. "I must refuse, Lady Grief !"

The chain tightened, a binding force that could suppress even other Sovereigns at Mikael’s level.

But Mikael wasn’t just a Sovereign now—he had grown. Into the Sovereign of Abysmal Void itself. Of nothingness.

So with a flick of his wrist, the scythe’s dark aura pulsed, disintegrating the chain into nothingness.

A sudden blast of divine fire engulfed him. The chains had been a trap to draw his attention away from Orion. The flames of a Celestial Sun—hot enough to incinerate life!

For a moment, nothing.

The flames twisted, warped, and collapsed into a singularity, devoured by the abyssal void swirling around him. He emerged unscathed, his gaze locking onto his attackers.

"You’ll have to do better than that. Orion, of the Raging Sun."

The Celestial of Eternal Tempest roared, a storm of divine lightning striking down. Mikael barely moved as the celestial lightning bent midair, consumed by the void around him. A blur shot toward his side—another Celestial, wielding twin blades infused with divine energy. Her speed was near instantaneous.

He shifted.

The twin swords passed through an afterimage!

"Too slow, Elyndra. Oh and a word of advice, I’d prefer you stand down. Thiela wouldn’t forgive if you come to hurt by my hands."

A hand clamped around the Celestial’s throat. Void energy surged, and with a casual toss, Mikael sent her crashing through space, her divine form shaking as she barely stabilized mid-air.

The other Celestials remained airborne, circling like predators.

Mikael exhaled. "I expected more."

The Will of Heaven, Aetherion raised both hands. Space-Time folded and the weight of existence collapsed upon Mikael, forcing him downward. The battlefield warped as a massive black hole formed, a cage of infinite pressure designed to crush even the strongest entities, designed to contain just Mikael alone

Mikael felt the pressure crushing him, but he didn’t resist. It was futile to do so.

Instead, he raised the scythe and slashed.

The black hole cracked.

Then it shattered.

The counterforce sent all seven Sovereigns flying backward, all losing their bearings as the shockwave tore through them

Mikael twirled his scythe as he chuckled nervously. "You guys aren’t half bad."

Aetherion sighed. The light of the universe shone within them, but their foe? He was the darkness between those stars, the endless chasm that swallowed their light. Worthy of the name, Celestial of the Void. But they could not risk fighting at full strength. Not here.

Still, they weren’t done.

With a synchronized battle cry, they launched one attack!

A fusion of fiery cosmic energy that burned even the void aura surrounding Mikael.

Mikael lifted his scythe and readied himself. He stole a glance at the Goddess.

She was just...... silent. Watching them, like a parent watching her children play.

"Well, time to get serious."

The attack drew closer!

But this attack never landed.

It was being devoured, slowly swallowed as the void aura around Mikael grew. But it was still enough to force him to the ground.

Mikael’s eyes darted around before they turned gold as he took his stance and breathing heavily as he prepared his counterattack.

The attack had no doubt caused him intense damage and he could only bluff for so long.

With a final swing of his scythe, reality bent around his scythe, condensing around the point of its blade.

"Infinite Grade, Void Arts : Singularity!"

And the battlefield was silent once more.
