Chapter 4: Chapter 04: The Struggle to Survive!
As soon as the fragment had fully melted, the only thought that pervaded Mikael’s mind was: forge a weapon! A scythe, so powerful it could harm celestials, and yet undetectable.
Why he had this thought, he couldn’t explain. But now, his suspicions that his actions were being influenced were rising. After all, the same desire to make a weapon had first arisen when he had found the fragment for the first time.
But he himself knew that his strength could be pushed even further, and possibly that of the other Sovereigns, if he finally understood the forsaken realm and its structures.
The time came to give the hot, liquid fragment a shape. But it didn’t bend, refused to, not to Mikael’s matter arranging abilities! That meant he had to go back to that place, where he might find something that could help. He always did.
And since something there was willing to keep helping him out, it would be foolish of him to not make use of that.
There were many puzzling things though that Mikael still considered as he set off.
Why had no one before discovered the place? Why haven’t the other Sovereigns discovered his trips and sojourn in that forbidden domain? What was the inner voice that lived in him and had been directing him?
The questions were there, but his desire still took over as he reached his destination. The desire to transcend!
At the Domain of the Will of Heaven, Vaelthiela and the Holy Watcher, Elyndra, sat before Aetherion who looked intimidating. Since he had summoned them directly into his Domain, it meant that something was wrong.
"The Void Sovereign, Mikael, he’s not here." Aetherion noted aloud.
"Forgive,my Lord. But the Sovereign of Voids was absent from his quarters when I delivered your message. But the celestials over there should have informed him, if he’s back," Aetherion’s right hand celestial replied.
"Is that so?"
"Get on with it, Aetherion," Elyndra fumed. "Why did you call us here?"
"Mind your ton-"
"My business, not yours," she cut him off. "Get on with it or I am leaving."
Aetherion sighed. Knowing how stubborn and hardheaded the Watcher was, he decided to not push her buttons. He faced the Lady Grief.
"Vaelthiela, do you have any ideas as to where the Void Sovereign might be? Or what he might be up to?"
" I am afraid not, Aetherion. A while ago, the Goddess did summon me to ask the same question too. Is there something going on that we should know, Will of Heaven?"
Aetherion sighed again. " His behavior for a while now could best be described as erratic, leaving for an undisclosed location for a very long time. And I have heard his memories could not provide anything meaningful as to determining his sojourns."
Even the fuming Elyndra calmed down. It was law here that the Sovereigns share their memories at intervals, for understanding and also as a form of check.
" You might be overthinking it, Aetherion," Elyndra shrugged. " We’re all aware how curious that brat can get. He probably found something somewhere that piques his interest still after all this while."
Aetherion rubbed the bridge of his nose for a moment.
" It would seem I have to consult with the Goddess for further instructions. You may both leave."
Elyndra grunted. " I am not your servant, Aetherion." And with that, she straight up vanished.
Vaelthiela, on the other hand, rose slowly and continued on her way out.
After they had both left, Aetherion’s form vanished. And when he manifested, it was before the Goddess in a large garden. The Goddess reclined on a rock chair, with seemingly no care in the world, or in reality in her case.
" Greetings, Goddess."
" Aetherion. A novelty that you’d ever require an audience with me after all this time, asides Convergence." She was all smiles, clearly enjoying the taunting.
" It’s about the Old Gods Domain, Aurora. Surely it’s more than enough to draw me out, is it not?"
And the smiles ceased entirely.
" I figured you’d know."

At the same time, Mikael passed by the garden at the same time. As usual, the journey had provided him with a cast and a quite large hammer. And of course they had shrunk conveniently for him.
But as he passed by the garden, he made out two voices just over the wall. One was the Goddess’ slow, comforting voice. Alongside the voice of the much dreaded Will of Heaven, Aetherion.
So without giving it much thought, he decided to eavesdrop, a big risk!
It didn’t take him long to note that he was the object of their discussing, something about a Forbidden place and him being a mere replacement, engineered to suit the-
’Huh? I am a replacement? For who? Why?’
The questions and doubts began to abound. He zoned out, thinking of what that might mean.
However one statement from over the wall drew him back from his train of thoughts, leaving him wide eyed! He instantly knew he had no time to doodle around.
Mikael left, hurrying to his quarters.
Once there, he got straight to business.
He rearranged the cast into one for a scythe, though he knew not how he even did it. He didn’t care, since time was of the essence.
After pouring the boiling liquid into the cast, and letting it solidify a bit, he began smashing with the hammer. And as massive as it was, no single sound could be heard. Another surprise Mikael added to the growing list.
He slammed and slammed, pouring in his essence and even his blood, completely unknowing of what effects they might have!
The one thing Mikael himself was not aware of as he forged the scythe was the fact that he slowly discarded his childlike form, taking on a more mature appearance.
During this time also, Mikael had subconsciously shut down his Domain from the Celestial Realm, instantly drawing attention.
But he didn’t care. There was only one goal in his mind.
Soon, in response to Mikael’s actions, the rest of the Sovereigns convened at Aetherion’s, where Mikael was deemed rebellious after hearing Aetherion speak. And out of the six, five voted that he be put down.
The claim was tabled before the Goddess. In light of that, and willing to allow the accused defend himself, she issues a summon for a Convergence.
Of all seven Sovereigns.
Luckily, or rather unfortunately for Mikael, the summons arrived the very instant he opened his domain. He also saw Aetherion’s summon from a while ago.
He shrugged them off and retired to his chambers.
To rest, and prepare to answer the Goddess’ summons as refusal could lead to his instant destruction by all of the Celestial Realm.
He shrank the objects from the Forbidden Realm as well as a few of his belongings, and had his right hand man send them down to the mortal realm. The scythe, however, he kept with him.
Ragnarok. The color was a metallic black, the scythe. With a six feet long shaft and a three feet long blade, it boasted extraordinary reach. Veins of pure void energy ran all over it, pulsing every now and then. Mikael had tried making the scythe sentient, but he lacked the time.
And while he didn’t know the extent of its capabilities, Mikael felt prepared for a summon he felt would be his last.
And so, to survive, the child forced himself into maturity.
