Chapter 131: Chapter 106: Are You Threatening Me? (Part 2)
Catching his boss’s eye, Zhang Peng gave a slight nod.
According to the intelligence he’d gathered, part of the Cancerous Tumor Alliance Army’s vanguard was indeed on its way. By his calculations, they were just about due to arrive.
"How many, and where were they spotted?" Li Ziyu pressed, having received Zhang Peng’s confirmation.
But the Little Cat Girl said nothing. Clutching the roasted meat, she stared at Li Ziyu with bright eyes, her lips sealed tight.
"Heh."
Li Ziyu chuckled, knowing what the Little Cat Girl wanted. With another snap of his fingers, he had an Undead fetch ten units of meat and place it in front of her.
’Wow!’
’Meat! So much meat! And it’s fresh!’
The Little Cat Girl’s eyes lit up. She reached out to pull the meat closer, but the Undead caught her hand first. Its Soul Fire flared, level with her eyes.
"Ah—"
Mengmeng cried out, yanking her hand back. She stumbled two steps backward, never forgetting to clutch the roasted meat tightly.
"First, answer the question. Then, you can have the meat." Li Ziyu rested his chin on his hand and watched the Little Cat Girl with a smile. ’Teasing this little one is pretty fun. Even my headache from being woken up is starting to fade.’
The Little Cat Girl was about to answer when a commotion erupted outside.
’Hm?’
Li Ziyu looked up toward the main gate as information relayed from the Undead came to him. Unidentified living beings had scaled the fortress platform. A few Minotaurs were trying to enter the main building but were being blocked by the Undead. Other than Tas Tuling and Mumu, no other Minotaur had permission to enter or leave the main building.
"Let them in."
As Mumu and Tas Tuling looked on in confusion, a Minotaur hurried in, guided by an Undead.
The Minotaur glanced around anxiously before rushing up to Mumu. "Clan Leader, one of our kids has been taken!"
"What’s this? A kid was taken? Which family’s kid is that unlucky?" Mumu was baffled. His mind couldn’t quite wrap around the situation.
"Clan Leader, you should be asking *who* took the child," Tas Tuling reminded him with a sigh. ’You’re focusing on the wrong thing.’
"Ah, right, right, right. Which family’s kid got taken?" Mumu nodded eagerly and asked the Minotaur.
"The question is *who* took the child! Mumu, are you half-asleep, too?" Liu Xingxing couldn’t stand it any longer and chimed in.
Li Ziyu shot Liu Xingxing a glance. ’Hmm, nice use of the word "too," kid.’
Zhang Peng, who had retreated to the side, looked from Liu Xingxing to Mumu, the corner of his mouth twitching. ’My teammates are a bit too innocent,’ he thought. ’They’re so skilled at digging their own graves. Look at him, just handed himself over to the boss on a silver platter without even knowing it.’
’Unbelievable. A truly unfiltered mouth.’
’Is getting noticed by the boss ever a good thing?’
After being prompted by Liu Xingxing yet again, Mumu slapped his forehead. "Xingxing’s right! Who took the child, and where are they now?"
"They’re outside. At the main gate." The one who answered Mumu wasn’t the Minotaur, but Li Ziyu, who had already risen and was walking toward the entrance.
’Well, now. They’re bringing the fight right to my doorstep. I’d like to see who’s got the nerve to cause trouble here. Do they really think my Undead are a bunch of pushovers?’
Soul Fires throbbed restlessly. One by one, Undead struggled to pull themselves from the walls. The head of a Skeleton Ox Demon appeared at the doorway, craning its neck to see outside. Even the Dark Skeletons in the shadows of the White Bone Throne emerged, their gazes fixed on the entrance.
The Undead’s agitation instantly made the Little Cat Girl shrink into a terrified ball. She covered her eyes, not daring to watch.
Zhang Peng sighed. ’We’re screwed. The boss is pissed.’
「Outside the main building.」
Meng Ni held a Stone Saber to the neck of a Minotaur child, her panicked gaze sweeping over the Minotaurs and Undead that had her surrounded.
’I didn’t want to use a child as a hostage, I really didn’t. But what choice do I have? I just want my sister back. I just want her safe with me. I never meant to hurt a child.’
Though she had never been to the fortress, Meng Ni could tell from the height and form of the structures that this main building was the key. That was why she had come to its gates.
At that moment, the doors to the main building swung open like the gates of Hell. Undead swarmed out, pushing the Minotaurs back and forming a tight encirclement around Meng Ni, several layers deep. Two towering, terrifying Ox Demons stepped out last, flanking the entrance.
The Undead parted, creating a path. A Human slowly walked through the passage and stopped a short distance away from her.
"Give me back my sister! Let us leave, and I promise I won’t hurt this child!" Meng Ni saw how the Undead deferred to him and knew instantly that this Human was the one in charge. She stated her demands without a moment’s hesitation.
Li Ziyu tilted his head, his gaze icy as he stared at the Cat Girl. "Are you threatening me?"
The cold words swept over her like a winter gale, making Meng Ni tremble. She nearly lost her grip on the sword.
The thought of her sister hardened her resolve. She tightened her grip on the sword. "I have no ill intentions. I just want to find my sister. Please, I’m begging you, don’t make this difficult."
Li Ziyu pointed to the sword in her hand, then to the Minotaur child. "And you call this ’no ill intentions’?"
"I..."
"Sister?"
Meng Ni started to say something more but froze when she heard a familiar voice. Looking past the Human, she saw her own sister staring back at her, her face a mask of astonishment.
A moment ago, when Li Ziyu had left, the Dark Skeletons had grown restless, as if they wanted to attack the people left behind. Seeing this, Zhang Peng had immediately ushered Liu Xingxing and the Little Cat Girl out of the room. ’I don’t know these Undead well,’ he had thought, ’and I don’t want any accidents.’
