Chapter 116: Chapter 101: Wandering Souls Into the Coffin (2)
A dark green aura, with the Soul Coffin at its center, slowly spread out. It was the Soul Coffin’s Passive Skill—Soul Aura.
Placing his hand on the Soul Coffin, Li Ziyu closed his eyes to feel it out. He could sense the Wandering Souls within and communicate with them without any hindrance.
"King Borhan?" Li Ziyu found a familiar presence and called out hesitantly.
"It is I, Master of the Undead." The King of the Wraith’s voice resonated within Li Ziyu’s soul, clearer than it had been outside.
"Are you all... okay?" Li Ziyu asked curiously. ’With so many Wandering Souls packed into such a small box, won’t it feel crowded? Even if they can overlap, it can’t be comfortable after a long time, right?’
"We are well. It is very spacious in here, and very comfortable," the King of the Wraith responded.
His words left Li Ziyu stunned. He blinked, not understanding.
’Could it have its own separate space inside?’
’It’s very possible. The Soul Coffin consumed a full 100,000 units of Skeletons. That’s enough Skeletons to build a small mountain, yet it resulted in a box this size. It’s probably more of the system’s black magic.’
Once he confirmed the Wandering Souls were fine, Li Ziyu relaxed. He opened the system to check the current number of Wandering Souls in the Soul Coffin and... huh? ’Units, tens, hundreds... over six million?!’
’What the hell, are there really that many?’
Staring at the number displayed on the system interface, Li Ziyu was completely dumbfounded. He knew there were a lot of Wandering Souls, and he had seen them overlapping within the mountain’s belly, but he never expected the number to be so massive—in the millions.
’If there are six million Wandering Souls alone, then how many Corpse Remains must there be in the Wraith Mountain Range?’
Not every dead body could become a Wandering Soul. Even if the Corpse Mountain Soul Gathering Ground boosted their formation, it was impossible for every single corpse to become one. At a ratio of 1:3, that meant there were at least 18 million Corpse Remains here.
And that was a conservative estimate. The Wandering Souls had been trapped here for so long that many had dissipated for various reasons. It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to double the number of Corpse Remains—36 million Corpse Remains!
Li Ziyu himself was shocked by the number he’d calculated. No wonder there was no visible change when hundreds of thousands of Corpse Remains were hauled away. Compared to over thirty million, what was a few hundred thousand? Not even a drop in the bucket!
’This isn’t some Corpse Mountain Soul Gathering Ground; this is clearly the main nest of my Skeleton Undead Race!’
’Screw the Central Races! Just you wait until I’ve mined this place clean. I won’t even need Skeleton Warriors or Skeleton Longbowmen. I’ll just steamroll you with a ten-million-strong army of Skeleton Undead and see who can stop me!’
’You want to run your mouths? I’ll crush every last one of you!’
Li Ziyu got high on his own fantasy for a while before coming back to his senses.
In reality, it was just a thought. An army of ten million Skeleton Undead would indeed be a cataclysmic disaster. But this world wasn’t without its High Tier Races, not to mention other Transmigrator City Lords. There were always experts out there. If he got too reckless, he might just lose his life.
Take a race that wields Holy Light, for example. Even with their vast numbers, the Skeleton Undead would be fighting a tough battle, a forced 50/50 at best. Those races have a damage bonus against the Undead. The only way to win would be to use sheer numbers to deplete their Magic Power and see who gives out first.
Or consider the Giant Dragon Race and the Giant Beast Race. They might not have large numbers, but for them, dealing with small fry like Skeleton Undead is no different from an elephant stomping on ants. How many ants does it take to kill an elephant?
Then there’s the Demon Race. Those guys could genuinely go toe-to-toe with the Undead in terms of combat power and were in no way weaker. As for the Sea of the Dead, did he think the Demons’ large-scale Skills were just for show?
When it came to a real war, High Tier Undead were indispensable.
But that was all for later. For now, Li Ziyu’s sense of security had skyrocketed. The little flame in his heart flared to life. With a reserve of tens of millions of Corpse Remains, he could finally act without restraint.
’Develop! I must develop!’
’The main city needs to be upgraded, all the technologies need a boost, and I... wait, I feel like I’ve forgotten something important.’
Li Ziyu, who had been excitedly planning his next steps, suddenly froze. He opened his Warehouse, and his expression immediately soured.
’I have the Corpse Remains, but I don’t have enough Soul Energy!’
’I’m still a poor man!’
’My beloved friends and family in the Wasteland, I need you!’
Li Ziyu couldn’t help but throw his head back and roar at the sky.
The hardworking Skeleton Undead, busy hauling Corpse Remains, seemed to sense something. They glanced at their City Lord, who was inexplicably going crazy for some reason, and then diligently went back to work.
...
"Why does the Boss look so dejected?" Zhang Peng muttered, watching Li Ziyu return with the Soul Coffin.
"Why don’t you go ask and find out?" Liu Xingxing said as he ran over.
"Wai—" Before Zhang Peng could get the word out, Liu Xingxing had already bounced over. Zhang Peng lowered his hand, defeated.
’Bro, do you have to be so reckless?’
’That’s our boss. You can see he’s in a bad mood, and you’re still going up to him? Are you looking for trouble?’
Li Ziyu was walking with his head down, pondering where he could get more Soul Energy, when someone suddenly jumped in front of him, giving him a scare. He looked up and saw it was that bouncy fellow, Liu Xingxing.
"Xingxing, what are you doing?" Li Ziyu asked, baffled.
"Boss, you don’t seem too happy. What’s wrong? If you’re feeling down, tell us about it so we can all have a laugh." It seemed that with new companions joining, Liu Xingxing’s brain was working even less than before.
Without a second thought, Li Ziyu reached out and gave him a sharp rap on the head.
