Chapter 115: Chapter 101: Wandering Souls into the Coffin

Leave this place and see the world outside!

The thought swept through the entire mountainside like a hurricane. The Wandering Souls drifted out from their hiding places and surrounded Li Ziyu, their eyes filled with an unconcealable hope.

They had been trapped in this world for far too long—so long they had forgotten what the outside world even looked like.

They remembered a time when they had more companions than they did now, but many had gone mad, unable to endure a life of imprisonment. They yearned for the warmth of the sun, the scent of fresh flowers, and the feeling of damp earth. They wanted to see the outside world once more.

Some grew powerful enough to break through their bonds, only to catch a single glimpse before turning to dust. Others gave up hope and chose to end their own existence, their consciousness undergoing Annihilation and dissipating into Spiritual Energy.

If King Borhan hadn’t forced them into slumber to help them adapt, there probably wouldn’t be many Wandering Souls left. The so-called Wraith Mountain Range would have long ceased to exist.

When they learned that the outside world had forgotten them, that they didn’t even exist in the river of history, the Wandering Souls completely broke down. Even King Borhan couldn’t accept it. They had chosen oblivion.

But now, it seemed there was a new option. What was the Master of the Undead saying? That he would take them out to see the world?

Li Ziyu looked at the Wandering Souls that nearly filled the entire space and repeated his question.

"Leave! We want to leave!"

"We want to get out! We want to see the outside world!"

Voices. Real, tangible voices.

The excited Wandering Souls used Soul Resonance to forcibly vibrate the air, accurately producing sound—resounding voices filled with anticipation.

The entire mountainside rumbled from the resonance, the voices of the Wandering Souls echoing endlessly.

Li Ziyu raised his hand high. The Wandering Souls fell silent, staring at him eagerly, waiting for his next words.

"I have an item called the Soul Coffin. It can serve as your vessel and carry you away from here. In the future, you might truly be able to see the outside world. I can’t guarantee it, but there is a chance. Are you willing to try?" ’I can’t make a 100% promise,’ Li Ziyu thought. ’Who knows what kind of tricks the system might have in store for the Soul Coffin.’

But that was enough. The chance to leave, the glimmer of hope—that was all they needed. It was enough to make the Wandering Souls risk it all.

King Borhan looked up at the Wandering Souls in the air, then back at Li Ziyu, his voice trembling. "We agree. Please, take us away from here."

"Let me be clear, it’s not without a price..."

The Soul Coffin wasn’t just a simple item; in a way, it was more like a Weapon. Li Ziyu was about to explain, but the King of the Wraith cut him off.

"As long as you take us out and let us see the outside world, we are willing to accept any price. Even if we must become your Slaves, even if we must perish, we are willing."

Gazing at the resolute King Borhan, Li Ziyu fell silent. There was nothing more to say. These were Undead who wanted nothing but to leave; they no longer cared about anything else.

"As you wish."

Li Ziyu gently caressed the lid of the Soul Coffin, his soul connecting with it. The Skeleton head that served as a lock lit up, its jaw opening. The grating sound of bone suddenly grew louder as the lid slowly opened. Inside the Soul Coffin was endless Darkness, like a black vortex, spinning slowly and emitting an exceptionally frigid aura.

"I’ll confirm one last time. Have you truly decided to enter the Soul Coffin?" Li Ziyu asked solemnly.

"Yes!"

All the Wandering Souls answered in unison, their voices echoing throughout the mountainside.

Li Ziyu nodded and took a deep breath.

Skill: Soul Absorption and Spirit Gathering!

He spread his arms as if welcoming the Wandering Souls. A terrifying suction force erupted from within the Soul Coffin. The gale below intensified, its howl so piercing it made one’s eardrums ache.

Pulled by this suction, the Wandering Souls were dragged into the Soul Coffin. From Li Ziyu’s perspective, however, it seemed less like the coffin was pulling them in and more like the souls were eagerly diving into it.

As the Wandering Souls entered, streaks of green light illuminated the surface of the Soul Coffin. The Skeleton heads at the four corners lit up, and small clusters of green flames appeared above them. As more souls poured in, the flames grew larger, like four torches burning ever brighter. The gale below was now tinged with specks of green Energy.

Faintly, Li Ziyu thought he could hear whispers—fragmented and complex, too indistinct to make out what they were saying.

King Borhan was the last Wandering Soul to enter the Soul Coffin. Before he went in, he gazed deeply at Li Ziyu and gave a slight bow. "Thank you, Master of the Undead. We’re counting on you."

Without waiting for Li Ziyu’s response, his form dissolved into green smoke and drifted into the Soul Coffin.

SLAM!

After the last Wandering Soul had entered, the lid shut, and the Skeleton head’s jaw closed with it.

After taking in the Wandering Souls, the Soul Coffin was completely different from before—it was like another object entirely. Now, the bones on its surface constantly shifted, forming different faces and creatures. Strange sigils appeared on it, and green light from the souls’ Energy emanated from the seams. The piercing shriek of the gale below had vanished, but the specks of green Energy within the wind remained.

Atop the four corner Skeleton heads, green flames nearly half a meter high flickered unceasingly. Li Ziyu reached out curiously but felt no heat. Instead, there was an icy sensation. It wasn’t a normal flame, but a fire born of death.
