Chapter 113: Chapter 100: Making the Soul Coffin 2
Once the command was given, the system began to process it.
[System Notification: The special item, the Soul Coffin, has been crafted.]
About five minutes later, a notification sound came from the system.
’Let’s see what this Soul Coffin is all about.’
Li Ziyu opened the system and retrieved the newly crafted Soul Coffin.
The Soul Coffin materialized in the main hall, instantly releasing an intensely frigid air that caused the surrounding temperature to plummet. Li Ziyu couldn’t help but sneeze before finally turning his gaze to the Soul Coffin.
It was an item with a distinctly Undead flair. It looked like a trapezoidal chest assembled from bone, giving it a sense of weight and substance—not at all the coffin-like shape Li Ziyu had imagined.
The chest was wider at the top and narrower at the bottom, over two meters long. Its four corners and the clasps on its lid were decorated with skulls. The bones pieced together to form the chest seemed to writhe as if they were alive, emitting a low grinding sound. The Soul Coffin floated in mid-air, held aloft by what seemed to be a howling gale from below.
After circling the Soul Coffin twice and observing it for a moment, Li Ziyu opened its system description.
[Special Item: Soul Coffin]
[Skill 1: Soul Absorption and Spirit Gathering: Can collect Wandering Souls (max 10,000,000 units). The more Wandering Souls collected in the Soul Coffin, the greater its power.]
[Skill 2: Soul Aura: The Wandering Souls within the Soul Coffin release Soul Energy, which can protect and enhance the combat effectiveness of Undead within a certain range.]
[Skill 3: Meteor Soul: Open the Soul Coffin and release the Power of the Wraith. Guided by the consciousness of the Wandering Souls, fire projectiles of concentrated Soul Energy to attack enemies at long range, or deploy the Wandering Souls directly onto the battlefield.]
’Seriously, isn’t the power of this thing a little absurd?’
’Based on its skill descriptions, does this mean my Undead will have strong combat power even during the day? And it has a ranged attack, too... it’s basically a cannon!’
’So, it’s a cannon that comes with its own aura?’
’Holy shit, this is way too powerful!’
Before crafting the Soul Coffin, Li Ziyu had only thought it would be a tool for gathering the Wandering Souls, perfect for giving the souls in the mountains a home. He never expected such a surprise—and it was a huge, almost frightening surprise. It was practically a Divine Artifact.
As the master of the Soul Coffin, Li Ziyu placed a hand on it, trying to get a feel for it. He sensed that besides the three skills listed by the system, the Soul Coffin probably had other uses. He wasn’t in a hurry to research them, though. Now that it was his, he could take his time figuring it out later.
’It’s time to find those Wandering Souls.’
Li Ziyu sighed internally. ’Those Wandering Souls are truly pitiful. They’ve been trapped in the Wraith Mountain Range for far too long. It’s like being locked in a prison for hundreds of years—in solitary confinement, no less. I can’t imagine what that must feel like. It’s a wonder they haven’t gone completely insane.’
’If the Wandering Souls are willing, I’ll bring them into the Soul Coffin. That way, they can finally leave the Wraith Mountain Range and follow me to see the rest of the world.’
The Soul Coffin was a special item; once taken out of the system, it couldn’t be put back in and had to remain in the world. Fortunately, it floated, and Li Ziyu found he could command it to follow him.
Li Ziyu walked out of the main hall with the large chest floating beside him. His novel appearance immediately drew everyone’s attention. Liu Xingxing and Zhang Peng started to walk over but were stopped when Li Ziyu held up a hand.
"Achoo! Don’t come any closer. It’s cold," Li Ziyu said, sneezing and sniffling.
’The Soul Coffin is powerful, no doubt, but this side effect of forcibly chilling the air around it is pretty unpleasant.’
’Then again, if it gets hot in the summer, could I use the Soul Coffin as an air conditioner?’
’Huh, I think I just discovered a strange new function for it.’
As his mind wandered, Li Ziyu headed out. Skeleton Warriors fell into formation on either side of him, silently ensuring his safety.
"What’s that next to him? A weapon?" Zhang Peng asked in a low voice. He and Liu Xingxing stood together, staring curiously at the Soul Coffin. Even after watching for a long time, they couldn’t figure out what it was.
"I don’t know either, but the boss is always coming up with weird stuff. It must be something unique to the Undead, right?" Liu Xingxing mused, unable to identify the Soul Coffin either.
Li Ziyu made his way off the Bone Plate Platform, heading straight for the caves up in the mountains.
"Er, I still don’t know what it is, but I’m guessing it has something to do with the Wandering Souls," Liu Xingxing said, watching the direction Li Ziyu had gone. He stroked his chin, putting on a detective-like air.
"Wandering Souls? Does the Skeleton Undead Race have a Wraith Species?" Zhang Peng was taken aback. He hadn’t seen any Ghost-type units here.
"There are Wandering Souls, but they’re not like the boss’s Undead. They’re... wild," Liu Xingxing said, scratching his head. He found it a little hard to explain. The Wandering Souls in the mountains were naturally formed and had nothing to do with the Undead Fortress.
"Oh, got it." Zhang Peng nodded, his expression returning to its usual listlessness.
"You really get it?" Liu Xingxing asked, his eyes wide.
"I got it. Those Wandering Souls weren’t created by the boss; they’re native to this world. That’s what you mean, right?" Zhang Peng glanced at Liu Xingxing and said slowly.
"Yes, yes, yes! That’s exactly it," Liu Xingxing nodded eagerly.
Zhang Peng craned his neck, surveying the mountain range in the darkness. "Where are we?" he asked suddenly. "Does this place have a name?"
"It has a name. I remember Tas Tuling called it the Wraith Mountain Range," Liu Xingxing said after a moment’s thought.
’That name sounds a little familiar...’
Zhang Peng racked his brain for a moment before a look of horror crossed his face. "Where did you say this was? The Wraith Mountain Range? As in, the forbidden zone?"
