Chapter 161: Chapter 161: Collecting Some Interest
After they went upstairs.
The man tossed the blanket he was wearing onto the bed and opened the door to the small balcony. Sunlight struck the side of his face.
It highlighted his sharp features and long, lowered lashes, each one distinct in the halo of light.
Huo Jingyuan turned back to Wen Ci, a smirk playing on his lips. "Did you call me upstairs just to sunbathe...?"
He left the sentence unfinished, yet it was laden with suggestive meaning.
Wen Ci smiled and asked, "What else did you have in mind?"
"Do..."
The man’s voice lilted upward at the end as his gaze settled on her.
His stare was scorching.
Wen Ci tilted her head up, her eyes bright and playful, but her tone was calm. "Is someone daydreaming in the middle of the afternoon?"
There had always been a chair standing out on the small balcony.
Huo Jingyuan reached out and pulled Wen Ci over. He sat down first, then had her sit on his lap. Wen Ci wrapped an arm around his neck, snuggling close as she said with a playful pout:
"Huo Jingyuan, you’re so shameless."
"I don’t want my face, I want you."
"Get lost," Wen Ci said, rolling her eyes.
’The man’s sweet nothings were crude, corny, and boring. Every time she heard him talk like that, she got goosebumps all over.’ "Can you please just shut your mouth?"
After basking in the sun for a while, Wen Ci clearly felt a change in the man beneath her. She wriggled free and stood up, deliberately brushing her fingertips over his chest in a teasing manner.
"Time for an afternoon nap."
She never used to have the chance to take afternoon naps, but after coming here, she had fallen in love with them. As long as she had nothing to do around noon, she would take a nap to catch up on sleep.
"You did that on purpose?"
Wen Ci pretended not to know what he was talking about. "On purpose? What are you talking about? I don’t understand."
The man gritted his teeth, stood up, and walked in from the balcony, pulling all the curtains shut as he passed. Then, he walked to the door.
And locked it from the inside.
The room was instantly plunged into darkness. A suggestive atmosphere blossomed in the dimness as the man’s steady footsteps approached Wen Ci, who was sitting on the edge of the bed.
"An afternoon nap, hmm?"
Wen Ci issued a warning: "Yaozu is still downstairs doing his homework."
"Then you’ll just have to hold back and not make any noise."
Wen Ci laughed in exasperation.
’Why should I be the one who has to stay quiet? Besides, this bed will start creaking if there’s even the slightest heavy movement.’
’Even if I don’t make a sound, there’s no guarantee Wen Yaozu won’t hear the creaking.’
"The door’s locked."
"Not enough."
As soon as he spoke, Wen Ci could feel the man’s hot breath. He was barely an inch away, the air between them thick with sensual tension.
Wen Ci held her breath.
But she was keenly aware of Huo Jingyuan leaning over her, his lips drawing closer and closer to hers. The man’s lips parted slightly. "Wifey, you’re the one who started this fire. You need to be the one to put it out."
Wen Ci’s breath hitched. "What’s that got to do with me?"
Huo Jingyuan’s voice was low and husky. "What do you think?"
Suddenly, Wen Ci felt a soft pressure on her lips. A moment later, he pulled back slightly, his Adam’s apple bobbing as he spoke. "Let me collect some interest first, okay?"
Wen Ci was rendered utterly speechless.
’What does any of this have to do with me? Interest, my ass. If you’re going to take advantage of me, just do it. Why bother with all the excuses? Jerk.’
While Wen Ci was lost in her scattered thoughts, the man deepened the kiss, his large hand supporting her back as he gently lowered her onto the bed.
Suddenly, a clap of thunder boomed, and a torrential downpour began.
In the living room, Wen Yaozu put down his pen, ran to the staircase, and shouted up to the second floor, "Sis! Brother-in-law! It’s raining! Should I bring the chair in?"
Huo Jingyuan’s face darkened as he released Wen Ci’s lips. He shouted toward the door, "You get it! Then go back to the living room and do your homework like a good boy. You’re not allowed upstairs again."
