"Alright." Rainy Night Blade took three Transformation Cards.
"Hey!" Lone Wanderer immediately grew anxious, but thinking about how he could only come here thanks to Rainy Night Blade, he sighed and said, "Fine, I'll let you have this one."
Rainy Night Blade chuckled, then turned serious. "Do you have the supplies I need ready?"
When they last met, Rainy Night Blade had asked Xu Lang and Lone Wanderer to purchase food supplies.
"Our dorm building doesn't lack food, but you asked for too much. I bought some, and the market prices started going up." Lone Wanderer shrugged.
As a lone wanderer, he could only rely on himself and didn't want to draw too much attention.
"I can pay a premium!" Rainy Night Blade said earnestly.
Lone Wanderer's expression turned odd. "Even if it means exposing your need, you still want us to sell you more food? Is your dorm building really that short on supplies?"
"Super, absolutely short!" Rainy Night Blade nodded.
Lone Wanderer fell silent, and everyone turned their gaze to Xu Lang.
Tapping the table, Xu Lang spoke up. "Our dorm dominates the entire market direction, but there are too few production-type dorms. Right now, we rely entirely on food spawning in the Safe Zone, and honestly, there isn't that much."
The food was too low-level.
In the early days, monsters dropped it easily, but now it rarely dropped anymore.
Rainy Night Blade sighed. "I'll take as much as you can give me."
"It's already prepared for you." Mary adjusted her glasses and said, "Three thousand portions of black bread, one thousand portions of white bread..."
After Mary finished speaking, Lone Wanderer also began listing how much food he had purchased.
In the end, Rainy Night Blade's eyes were glowing with excitement.
"Hahaha, that's enough, that's enough!" Rainy Night Blade laughed heartily. "I never thought the food crisis that's plagued our dorm building for so long could be solved so easily. Mutual help really is the way to go!"
The bulk of the food came from Xu Lang's side.
After all, he controlled the resources of an entire dorm building.
Lone Wanderer scratched his head. "What the hell is going on in your dorm building?"
"It's complicated..." The smile on Rainy Night Blade's face faded a little. "I was one of the first players in the Starving Corpse Building. In almost every round, I've witnessed the tragedy of people eating people."
Lone Wanderer's expression shifted.
So it was cannibalism!
"Is hunger alone enough to cause that?" Mary frowned.
"Isn't hunger enough?" Rainy Night Blade shot back, a hint of gloom creeping into his eyes. "Besides, the Starving Corpse Building encourages this trend. By eating others, players from our building get stronger."
Lone Wanderer exclaimed in shock. "Did you eat too?!"
Rainy Night Blade didn't answer.
The atmosphere in the room grew eerie.
The gameplay of the Starving Corpse Building was cannibalism. If you didn't follow the mainstream approach, your strength would be pathetically weak, and you'd get eaten yourself.
The fact that Rainy Night Blade had survived this long and even claimed the Top Player title multiple times meant he was no pushover.
Xu Lang and Lone Wanderer didn't bother condemning Rainy Night Blade—that would have been childish.
No player in the Dorm Survival Game could stand on a moral high ground and point fingers at others.
Everyone was the same.
The brutality of the Dorm Survival Game had long been laid bare, and its malice had never been hidden.
As the saying went, in purgatory, doing evil was justice.
"Ah, I wonder when all this will end." Lone Wanderer suddenly sighed. "Actually, the situation for Sealing Building players isn't good either. Every round, they have to seal specific monsters. Many people are forced into it and end up sacrificed."
"In a survival game, just living is enough. As long as you're alive, there's hope." Xu Lang offered comfort.
He recalled his early days in the Dorm Survival Game, when the game constantly emphasized surviving, surviving, surviving.
"That's true." Lone Wanderer nodded, then looked at Rainy Night Blade. "So, what are you planning to trade with us?"
Rainy Night Blade pursed his lips, his face showing difficulty. "The Starving Corpse Building doesn't have many resources. Most of them have been eaten by the players."
"You're kidding me, man. You even eat facilities and items?!" Lone Wanderer clicked his tongue.
Although Lone Wanderer was a middle-aged man who had been betrayed by his wife, his mindset was far more upbeat than Rainy Night Blade's.
In contrast, Rainy Night Blade seemed more like an old man.
In real life, he didn't have the same energy and talkativeness he showed on the radio. It was a bit of a contrast.
"Eat them! And they're highly nutritious!" Rainy Night Blade nodded. "Whatever players in the Starving Corpse Building eat, they get the benefits from."
"Eat people to supplement people, huh. That's one hell of a dark joke!" Lone Wanderer quipped.
Rainy Night Blade pulled out his blade and pushed it toward Xu Lang. "See how much this is worth?"
[Nightmare Eye - Greed Blade: Level 15 Epic Weapon. A cursed blade that can evolve by devouring other weapons.]
"You sure you want to trade this?" Xu Lang asked.
"I hope you can give me back some supplies in return." Rainy Night Blade showed no reluctance.
"Deal." Xu Lang took the Greed Blade. Although Purgatory's Master was now a set component, it could still be fused.
[Nightmare Eye - Rainy Night Blade: Damn, you actually took it. Don't you feel any pity for me?]
Rainy Night Blade's face remained stoic, but his heart was already bleeding.
"This is to make it up to you." Mary handed three Transformation Cards to Lone Wanderer, then looked at Rainy Night Blade. "What kind of supplies do you want?"
"Food, I guess." Rainy Night Blade said absentmindedly.
He no longer had his blade and was thinking about whether he should change his codename.
Just then, Xu Lang tapped the table to draw everyone's attention. Staring at Rainy Night Blade, he said, "Do you have any enemies in your dorm building? Preferably a Sequence Holder."
"I do. Why are you asking?" Rainy Night Blade's mind raced.
Was Xu Lang feeling guilty about taking his main weapon and planning to give him a defensive item?
"I'll help you kill them. Free of charge." Xu Lang chuckled, and a faint, blood-colored horned silhouette flickered behind him.
"What did you call me out for?" The Gluttony Demon said impatiently.
Xu Lang spoke to Rainy Night Blade. "I'll temporarily leave the Gluttony Demon attached to you. Lure your enemy out, and it will take care of them."
Lone Wanderer was both surprised and moved. "Zero Number, you're such a good person."
"Not really." Xu Lang gave a noncommittal laugh.
"Huh? That's not good? I think you're practically a saint, the only light in this apocalypse!" Lone Wanderer kept praising.
Praising people was a powerful force. Sometimes it could change someone more effectively than preaching. It was like the little mouse stealing oil—once it climbed up the lampstand, it couldn't come back down.
If he could, he wished everyone in the Dorm Survival Game were good people, aside from himself.
This sentiment aligned with Xu Lang's views surprisingly well.
"Zero Number, I've never seen a player with as much responsibility as you. You're definitely the human savior—"
"I get stronger by killing people!" Xu Lang interrupted with a grin.
A chill ran down Lone Wanderer's spine, and he immediately shut his mouth.
One got stronger by eating people, and the other got stronger by killing people—had he walked right into a den of devils?
