“Scumbag, you’re giving me the silent treatment again!!!” The Gluttony Demon was truly furious, hands spread wide, hair standing on end in rage.
Although it had no hair.
Being ignored felt unbearably painful.
Every time Xu Lang did this, he treated the demon like a tool, making it do the nastiest, dirtiest work, and then tossing it into the trash!
“How could that be? You’re my most reliable assistant. Last time with the Tiger-Jiao corpse from the Coliseum, you should’ve been very satisfied, right?” Xu Lang said, full of surprise. “I always give you the best. Why would you say that about me?”
The Gluttony Demon barked, “Nonsense!”
A sliver of doubt crept into its mind. Could it be that it had misjudged Xu Lang?
Song Fei had been sending Blood Mist creatures into Infinite Purgatory, and the demon had indeed been eating until its belly was round. The Gluttony Purgatory had expanded at least tenfold, and countless Tales were available for it to devour at will.
“Believe it or not, but no matter how you treat me, I’ll provide you the best resources.” Xu Lang shrugged. “This time I’ll send you somewhere that suits you perfectly, where you can feast to your heart’s content.”
“Really?” The Gluttony Demon looked full of suspicion.
“Really!” Xu Lang nodded and looked at Rainy Night Blade.
At that moment, Rainy Night Blade’s face was a tangle of emotions.
“Blade, what’s wrong?” Lone Wanderer asked at the right moment.
“That monster—I have one of those as an enemy too!” Rainy Night Blade stared at the Gluttony Demon’s rough, fierce twin horns. “The similarity is ninety-nine percent!”
The Gluttony Demon’s eyes narrowed. Its long tongue, crimson turning purple, began to drip saliva so copiously the teatable in front of it smoked white.
Xu Lang glanced over and noted that the Gluttony Demon still had to go explore Starving Corpse Building, so he didn’t make it compensate him.
“That’s another one-seventh of mine. Tell me where he is!” The Gluttony Demon, unable to wait, produced a gluttonous eating fork. “I’m going to eat him now, swallow him whole!”
By the end it was practically roaring, the demon’s face flushing red, a murderous aura flooding the whole room.
Lone Wanderer felt his breath hitch and found himself speechless.
To seal a creature like this would likely require a sizable cost.
“Xu Lang, you should tell us about this demon’s origin first.” Rainy Night Blade, well aware that knowing your enemy leads to victory, spoke soberly.
High-level players especially valued intelligence. Any player trying to steamroll the Dorm Survival Game without solid intel would die horribly.
Xu Lang nodded and briefly explained the Gluttony Demon’s background.
“It’s called the Gluttony Demon. It’s a Tale from Taleblade Building. It used to be quite powerful, but later it was cut into seven pieces and sealed into seven artifacts.”
Upon hearing that the Gluttony Demon was actually a Tale, Lone Wanderer and Rainy Night Blade both showed surprised expressions.
They themselves had come here because of a Tale.
Xu Lang really did have an inseparable bond with Taleblade Building.
“Xu Lang has probably already absorbed the core mechanics of two dormitory buildings, no wonder he’s so strong.”
Lone Wanderer thought to himself.
Xu Lang’s complexity rose another level in his estimation.
“If I do this, won’t Starving Corpse Building target me?” Rainy Night Blade hesitated.
“You’re not an M, are you?” Xu Lang’s eyes flashed with a bit of astonishment. “The dormitory treats us this cruelly, and you developed feelings for it?”
Rainy Night Blade smiled wryly. “Not that. It’s just that opposing a thing much bigger than you leaves a chill in your chest… Do you often go against dormitory rules?”
What else could he do?
A jade left unpolished won’t become a gem; a child uneducated brings shame to his father.
“Forget it, impossible. We’re far from able to match a dormitory head-on.” Rainy Night Blade shook his head and continued, “But I agreed to this because my enemy is really annoying!”
Xu Lang only cared about results. He nodded and looked at the Gluttony Demon.
Without hesitation, the Gluttony Demon transformed into cloud after cloud of blood mist and poured into Rainy Night Blade’s body.
Rainy Night Blade watched the endless flow of blood mist and his face fell. “Is its form really that big?”
“Very big. Hold on a moment.” Xu Lang nodded.
Lone Wanderer let out an odd laugh, reminded of a certain celebrity sitting on a sewing machine.
A little over a minute later, the Gluttony Demon had fully entered Rainy Night Blade’s body.
Outsiders could never imagine what a terrifying thing lodged within Rainy Night Blade’s chest.
“This Tale is amazing, my base stats increased.” Rainy Night Blade clenched his fist, feeling a fullness within.
“It’s one of the layer masters of my Purgatory, a high-ranking Tale.” Xu Lang said casually, then broke into a sincere smile. “Blade, you trust me a lot.”
“If I trust you, I trust completely!” Rainy Night Blade bit his teeth.
He had decided Xu Lang was a true dragon; embrace him and he would soar!
A true man refuses to starve under five cauldrons; even in death he prefers to be roasted in five cauldrons. (Note: a boastful classical allusion expressing an uncompromising spirit.)
He needed some power to break out of the board, otherwise dragging things out with Starving Corpse Building would eventually get him and the others played to death.
“Alright.” Xu Lang didn’t promise much, but he nodded.
He was increasingly fond of Rainy Night Blade; if Rainy Night Blade could become a Floor Leader in Mad King Building, he’d be a fierce general.
Um… maybe not.
Other than Xu Lang, Mad King Building didn’t really have anyone fierce.
Li Shuwen and the others had developed near their limits, but still couldn’t outrun Mad King Building’s game difficulty.
Sometimes Xu Lang wondered if he himself had raised Mad King Building’s difficulty level.
No matter how vicious a building, it shouldn’t be this lethal—ten deaths, no survivors.
Unless there’s a ghost underneath the building.
…
Annihilation Dormitory Building, blood rain drifting.
Game in progress.
Lord of Dawn strode out of his dorm like a demon king, roaming across floors, smashing doors and killing.
Before players finished dying, a swarm of frogs arrived from afar.
The frog horde was tremendous, clearly already formed and not growing from only one or two—this was a full-fledged army.
“Frost and wind and rain…” Lord of Dawn stood on the guardrail, posture straight as a pine, gazing at the tidal wave of Calamity Frogs, then looked down at the building beneath his feet and murmured, “Annihilation Dormitory Building, initiating the Blood Calamity game. Are you trying to wipe me out?”
“Bastard, die!”
A player leapt out of the dorm, clutching a dagger that shimmered with spectral light, eyes bloodshot as he lunged at Lord of Dawn’s back.
Clang~
The dagger was stopped by an invisible barrier!
“This is an Epic dagger!” the assassin stammered, utterly stunned. Even with all his strength he couldn’t move forward.
Suddenly, a purple hand shot out, grabbed his wrist, and flung him out of the building.
In midair, he saw Lord of Dawn’s hands press together, forming a petal-like shape.
“Annihilating Deathlight!”
Lord of Dawn murmured, purple laser waves blasting from his palms, instantly filling the sky and earth!
The assassin was vaporized in an instant, and a huge swath of Calamity Frogs in the distance was wiped out!
Ignoring the aberrant risk of the blood rain, Lord of Dawn plunged into the Calamity Frog horde under the downpour, his light waves like missiles.
Many players burst from their dorms and, almost simultaneously, charged into the blood rain!
“Kill him, kill this Annihilation Dormitory player!”
“This is our only chance!”
“You cowards in the building, forget the blood rain. I have relics that remove the disaster status!”
“Charge together!”
They formed a pincer attack with the Calamity Frogs and rushed toward Lord of Dawn!
The players’ shouts were full of heat and life, a desperate all-or-nothing gamble. Calamity Frogs leapt from safety zones across the field, their presence chilling, while Lord of Dawn stood alone in the center like a sovereign cleaving life and death!
In this war, only one person could survive!
