Chapter 34: The training

The man had almost caught up with me when Bryce suddenly appeared and grabbed him.

"What the fuck are you doing?" Bryce roared into his face, and the man trembled.

"I... I..." the man stuttered, but Bryce didn’t give him a chance to explain. Before I could say a word, Bryce had already separated the man’s head from his body.

It happened so fast that before I could blink, his lifeless body had dropped to the floor, followed by his head.

Seeing the man’s head and then the lifeless body terrified me, and before I could stop myself, I was sitting on the floor.

How could he have...? How did he do this so effortlessly?

Bryce’s driver came forward and handed him a cloth, which he used to clean his hands.

After that, Bryce looked over at me. "What are you doing over there?" He grimaced.

"H...huh," I trembled.

"Get up." He walked over to me and dragged me to my feet, but I couldn’t stop staring at the man’s body.

Blood was oozing from his head and body. His eyes were still wide open, and his mouth was agape.

What...? Is this the man who was chasing me a minute ago? Is he the one lying lifeless here? Goosebumps spread over my skin, and I started to pant, but Bryce dragged me to the car.

"You shouldn’t look at it since you can’t stomach it. He caused you pain and tried to hurt you; what happened was justifiable. Or do you feel bad for him?" He fixed his gaze on me as he questioned, but I couldn’t answer immediately.

"Do you feel bad for him?" He growled, and I shook my head.

"I... I... No... No," I stammered.

"Good. You shouldn’t feel bad for him. He could have hurt you badly if I hadn’t shown up when I did. Everyone was busy inside; you could have gotten into real trouble if I hadn’t arrived in time," he groaned.

"Do you understand me?"

"Y... yes," I nodded.

"Are you sure you understand me?"

"Yes... I do."

"Do you feel bad for him?"

"I..." I started to look away, but he turned my head, making sure I was looking at him.

"Do you feel bad for him?" He repeated the question, and this time, I shook my head negatively.

"I don’t," I said. freёwebnovel.com

"Good. People like him don’t deserve forgiveness."

He closed the door, walked to the other side, got in, and sat beside me.

"Where to, sir?" His driver asked.

"Home. Let’s go home," Bryce sighed.

"Yes, sir." The driver started the car, and as we drove away, my eyes wandered back to the man’s lifeless body. People were already cleaning him up.

They’re taking his body away and erasing any traces.

A sigh left my lips, and I relaxed my head against the car seat. Bryce is right; I could have gotten into trouble if he had caught me. The man wasn’t listening to me either. If he had, he wouldn’t have ended up like this.

Shame.

We arrived at the mansion, and I ran up to my room. I threw my bag on the floor and jumped on the bed.

I am exhausted. Today feels strange; a lot of unusual things happened, but I’m glad Bryce didn’t mention my forehead when he saw it.

I thought he would overreact, but he acted more composed today.

A smile appeared on my face, and I closed my eyes to sleep, but my stomach rumbled, reminding me I was hungry.

I haven’t had lunch. I’m hungry, but I’m also sleepy. The sad thing is, I can’t sleep while hungry. I’ll never be comfortable. I have to eat first.

Yes, that’s what I have to do. With great determination, I rose to my feet and dragged myself out of the room. I went straight to the kitchen and found a few maids there.

"Good evening, ma’am," they greeted me.

"I’m hungry; can you make spaghetti for me? I can’t sleep," I said, touching my stomach.

"Of course, we’ll do that right away." One of the maids called the head cook, and the others prepared the meal. They served the spaghetti to me thirty minutes later.

"Thank you, it’s so tasty." I devoured the meal in less than fifteen minutes.

"Can I have more?" I asked, and the staff served me another portion.

I was eating my second plate when a maid approached me in the dining room.

"I apologize for any inconvenience, but I wish to speak with you, ma’am," the maid said.

Looking up, I settled my gaze on her.

She had short hair, and her uniform looked well-ironed.

"Yes?"

"I know it’s not professional of me, but please forgive me; it’s totally fine if you can’t help me."

"What do you want?" I asked.

"I told my mom about the nanny position, and she wants to apply for it. My mother is old and often lonely at home. She just wants to be closer to me, but there’s no way unless she starts working here."

"They don’t usually employ family members, but I’m hoping you could help with this."

"I... I’m not responsible for that, and I don’t want a nanny. I already informed the brothers about this."

"Oh," she lowered her gaze and remained silent for a moment.

"Alright then, thank you for listening to me." She bowed slightly before walking away.

I want to help, but I can’t. I sincerely don’t want a nanny, and I doubt the brothers would employ a family member. Like she said, they don’t do that, and it’s not as if they would listen to me if I requested it.

After eating, I went to bed. I slept for about two hours before a knock woke me.

"The brothers want you in the meeting room," the maid informed me.

With sleepy eyes, I made my way there. When I arrived, I found them conversing.

"So it’s settled then; that’s good," Gavin groaned, nodding.

"When will she begin lessons?" Cooper asked.

"Next week," Bryce replied. "I’ll adjust our schedule."

"Okay, I’m up for it; call me anytime you need me to train her," Parker added.

What are they talking about?

Standing among them, I asked, "Who are you training?" ƒreewebɳovel.com

"You," Gavin responded.

"You’ll start training next week; Bryce will adjust both your schedule and his. He’ll be in charge of the training, but we’ll also train you when we can."

"Your training begins next week, princess. I’d advise you to prepare yourself both physically and mentally."
