Chapter 33: Apology Fee

Cole stayed quiet and watched me as I complained. He remained silent until I finished venting.

"Are you done?" He asked, looking at me.

"What?" I huffed. How dare he?

Cole sighed and squatted before me again; he took my hands and held them.

He locked eyes with me and said, "I don’t want you to get hurt because I care about your safety. I don’t want to be a fool; I’d rather do this than remain in hiding."

"Gavin offered that I work here for the time being; I accepted it as my punishment for breaking out of prison. I would rather do this than stay in hiding. I was scared when I couldn’t reach you. Do not blame me. I was so worried that I couldn’t sleep; I needed to know if you were okay."

"I thought you were being punished for what I did; I couldn’t stand it and had to come out of hiding. As for the money you gave me, it’s still with me. I haven’t spent it. I’ll return it before you leave."

"You don’t have to; it’s for you. And... the brothers give me more than enough money. Accept it as an apology fee," I grumbled.

"Apology fee?" He chuckled and lowered his gaze.

"Yes."

"Okay, I accept it. I’ll keep it this time; you might need it."

"I don’t need it! Use it. Go to school," I sighed. I was tired of exchanging words with him. Why is he so stubborn?

He smiled and sat beside me; he put his hand to my forehead and examined it.

"Your forehead is still swollen; I think we need to apply an ice pack. Does it hurt?"

"A little; you don’t need to worry."

"How can I not? You shouldn’t have come here; you should have..."

"I didn’t come here for you. I told you," I frowned.

"Okay, I’ll believe you. When do you plan on leaving?"

"I... I don’t. What about you? Do you want to remain here? Why don’t you come with me? Leave with me."

"You’re suggesting that I escape?" He chuckled.

"Yes. Escape with me. Leave this place."

He exhaled. "You don’t listen, do you?" he muttered.

"I’m just concerned for you, Cole. I don’t want my mates to hurt you."

"You don’t have to; I’m capable of taking care of myself. And you’re helping me too; your parents are looking after my siblings. I visited them when I left prison, and they were very happy to see me."

I rolled my eyes. "You don’t have to mention that; they’re also my siblings."

"No, they can’t be your siblings; they’re mine."

I frowned. "Why can’t they also be my siblings?"

"Because they’re mine."

What is he saying? Why is he arguing with me? He is such a dickhead.

Rolling my eyes, I moved my gaze away from him.

"So you’ll remain here, huh?" I asked again.

"Yes."

I already suspected he would answer "Yes" when I saw him at the entrance. Poor Cole. frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓

I wish he could live his life for himself and not for others. Another sigh escaped my lips, and I stood up.

"I’ll visit you again next week; I’ll come by next week," I said.

He also stood up. "You don’t have to; the brothers will notice if you do. I don’t want you to get into trouble." Then he took out a phone.

"This is a burner phone; we can communicate with each other." He handed it to me. "I bought two."

"Ah," I shook my head, examining the phone, but after staring at it, I returned it to him.

"It’s not necessary, Cole; let’s not do it," I said, refusing his offer.

"Why?" He blinked, confused.

"Let’s avoid getting into trouble; I want us to be safe."

He sighed, then nodded. "I understand." He slid the phone into his pocket, and I went closer and embraced him.

"I’ll see you again," and then I turned and walked away.

I reached the entrance and immediately let out another sigh. I hate this. I wish I could be more open with him.

"Are you okay?" Sandra approached me and examined my forehead.

"Why? What happened to you?" She gasped. "You got hurt."

"It’s nothing, I’m fine," I said, brushing it off. But she was worried.

"No, you got hurt; we need to tend to your injuries."

"Sandra, I don’t want you to overreact; I’m okay."

"Oh," she lowered her gaze, looking unsure. I opened my bag and brought out my phone.

"I have a job for you," I said, directing my attention to her.

"What do you want? I’ll help with it."

"It’s about that guy in the red shirt. I need you to watch him, observe him, and take care of him. How old are you?"

"I’m 17," she responded. "But I’ll be 18 in three months."

"You’re still underage."

"Yes."

"You shouldn’t be working, Sandra."

"I know, but I need this job; I have to take care of my siblings."

"Can we exchange contact info? I want your number."

"My call number? Oh yes."

"If possible, I’d like your WhatsApp number; I’m more active there."

"Right." She took out her phone, and we exchanged contacts.

"I’ll text you," I said as I slid the phone into my bag.

"Can you take me to the car? I’m done here."

"Yes," she happily led me out. When I got to the car, I couldn’t find anyone around.

The door was locked. There was no sign of the driver. Bryce was not here either.

I guess I’ll have to wait for them.

I leaned against the car, opened my Instagram account, and began scrolling through it. I became lost and didn’t notice the older man creeping toward me.

I flinched, and my phone fell out of my hand when the man caught my arm.

"You’re here; you’re such a pretty little thing. I didn’t know whores could be this pretty." He licked his lower lips and grabbed my ass, but I pushed him away.

What the fuck... Who is this man? What is he talking about?

"Come this way; it’s quiet over there. I need to finish and get back to work." Then he reached into his pants and grabbed his already hardened dick.

"Look, I’m very hard. I’ll make you scream so loudly. I know you whores love a man that can make you scream like a baby," he laughed and drew closer to me again, but I moved away.

Could he be mistaken for someone else? I think he is. It has to be because I have no idea what he’s talking about.

The man licked his lower lip more disgustingly. "Oh, I see you like being chased. You don’t have to worry; I’m a good hunter." He grinned.

"You have the wrong person. I’m not whoever you think I am. Excuse me... Excuse..." The man didn’t let me finish and began to chase me. I had no choice but to flee.

But he didn’t stop and continued chasing me; we kept running around the vehicle, circling the car until he appeared. Then he saved me.
