Chapter 25: With Parker
Parker took me to his company, and afterward, we left in his car. He drove to Crescent City and arrived at a private estate.
He drove to the largest house on the estate, and we got out of the vehicle.
"Welcome," the butler greeted us at the door.
"Where’s Maria?" Parker asked the butler.
"She’s watering the plants; I’ll take you to her." The butler led us out of the main house and to the garden. In the garden, I noticed a woman who bore a striking resemblance to Parker.
Wow, I never thought I could see the female version of Parker. This is truly surprising. Is she his sister? She looks young.
"You’re here." The woman was watering the flowers but stopped when she saw us.
"Where’s she?" Parker fixed his gaze on her.
"Oh, she’s not back from school, but she’ll be back in an hour or so. You can wait, right?" The lady briefly looked at him before shifting her gaze to me. Once she focused on me, I smiled and offered my greetings.
"Good day to you, Miss," I greeted her.
"Miss?" The lady laughed and turned her gaze back to Parker. "You didn’t tell her that I’m your mother?"
"M... Mother?" I muttered. She’s his mother?!
My eyes widened, and I fixed my gaze on Parker, but he remained silent.
She looked back at me. "He didn’t tell you, I see. I’m Maria. I’ve been expecting you. I’m glad he finally brought you to me." She extended her hand for a handshake, and I reluctantly shook it.
But seriously, how is she Parker’s mother? It’s unbelievable; she looks like she’s in her late twenties. Parker looks older than she is.
What the heck!
"She’s here to see Aria," Parker informed.
"Ariana is not here; I’ll keep your mate company. You can go ahead and excuse us," Maria gestured to him.
"I’ll be back; she’s been wanting to meet you, but you can call me if you need anything," he mumbled before walking away.
Once he was out of the garden, she picked up the watering can and resumed her duties.

"I’m sure you’re surprised; you’re not the only one who has reacted that way," she smiled as she continued watering the flowers.
"Y... Yes, Miss... Ma’am."
"I had him when I was seventeen. I’m forty-eight. I’m not as young as you think," she clarified.
She’s forty-eight? Wow. Wait, and she had him when she was seventeen? Shocking—she’s a strong woman. She must have superpowers.
"I had Ariana after I remarried," she continued.
So she’s not Bryce, Cooper, and Gavin’s birth mother? Okay.
"Ohh, I see," I said, shaking my head in understanding.
"And as you can see, Parker hates me; he doesn’t like me. He doesn’t talk about me to other people."
What?
"Whenever he comes around, it’s just for Aria and not me. He doesn’t even visit when I fall ill. He’s a little heartless, but I’m glad he got a mate. Although I’m not too happy."
"He has to share his mate with his siblings; I don’t like it. He doesn’t have a problem with it, but I do. I have a huge problem with it," she continued. The water in the can ran out, and she filled it up again and moved to another section of the garden.
"I’ve been asking to meet you. I was going to come over to the house if he didn’t bring you by year-end." Then she looked at me. "I know we just met, but I’ll be straightforward with you. What are your plans for my son? Will you choose him? If you’re not planning on choosing him, then it’s better to break the mate bond now."
She moved to another section to water the plants there.
"We don’t have a good relationship, but he’s still my son, and I love him very much, so I want the best for him. If you’re going to choose one of his brothers, do it quickly. Do not waste his time."
What...? What is she saying? I’m not holding either of the boys. They’re the ones holding me hostage.
After watering the plants, she set down the can and washed her hands, then came to me.
"As a mother, I’ll do what is best for my son. I want to ask you a question." She stared at me.
"What’s the question?" I murmured.
"Who is your favorite among them? The four of them."
"I...I don’t know." freёwebnovel.com
"You must have one; it’s impossible not to have a favorite. But if you still insist, then I want you to make Parker your favorite. I want you to choose him. With his fated mate by his side, Parker will be able to rule the world. I want my son to enjoy the things I never got to enjoy." She took my hands and held them in hers.
"Will you do me this favor?" She continued to stare at me, but I couldn’t hold her gaze, so I looked away.
"You won’t?"
"I... I can’t promise you that. The four of them... I like all of them," I admitted.
"Yes, it’s the mate bond speaking; it’s normal to feel a connection to the four brothers, but I’m asking you to pick my son. Break the mate bond with the other boys and remain with Parker."
"Parker doesn’t treat me right, but that won’t be the case for you. I’m sure he loves you the way he loves little Ariana."
"Why doesn’t he like you?" I asked. It’s strange that Parker doesn’t like her. I’m not saying she’s lying; she’s not. I also saw how Parker behaved. His body language was off. He also referred to her by her name. There must be a reason.
"Is there a reason?" I added.
"Yes, there’s a reason."
"What is it?"
"He found out that I broke up a family."
She broke up a family? Whose family?
"Bryce. The first son. His elder brother. I caused his parents’ divorce."
Bryce’s parents? Wait... I’m a little confused here.
"He was greatly disappointed in me, but if I had never done what I did, he wouldn’t be here today. He would not have existed. If we were to go back in time, I’d repeat the same action. I’d seduce Mr. Sebastian, and I’d get pregnant with him. I’d even proceed to the next step by becoming his wife. And after that, I’d give birth to his other children," she rushed her words.
Wait. Wait. I’m trying to understand things.
So Parker and Bryce are half-brothers. Parker’s mother broke up Bryce’s parents. She caused this situation by becoming pregnant with Parker, and she feels no remorse for her actions.
She also doesn’t care about the shame her son must have felt after he found out.
I have changed my mind. She’s not a superwoman. I was wrong about her; I stand with Parker.
