Chapter 24: His sister
I was still listening to their conversation and didn’t realize Bryce was approaching. The moment he opened the door, I tried to hide, but it was already too late. He had seen me.
"What are you doing?" He eyed me, but I shook my head and kept my gaze on the floor. I don’t want him to know I listened to their conversation, but I think he already knows.
"Go in," he breathed as he walked to the elevator. He pressed the button, and the elevator opened; then stepped inside.
Did Bryce really find me? Really? He doesn’t act that way. They never revealed how they discovered me. The four of them showed up at once and took me from the house; I can still remember how it happened. How they kept me in the car and ignored my tears. They brought me to their mansion and refused to let me out.
I spent months locked in my room because of them. Only after I agreed to live with them did they allow me to leave the mansion.
It’s surprising. Another thing I heard that shocked me was that they have Cole in their custody.
Cole walked right into their trap. He visited one of the brothers in his office.
Why did Cole do that? After all my efforts to get him far away, he chose to walk right into their trap.
I want to be angry at him, but I can’t. He must have had his reasons, but I’m still disappointed. I’m greatly disappointed.
"Why are you standing there?" I didn’t notice that Cooper had returned until he was close to me.
He took the biscuits, cakes, and cookies from me.
"Gavin wants them," I whispered.
"My coffee?"
"It’s on your table, but it’s probably cold. Should I make another cup?"
"Nah, thank you." Cooper walked into the office, served Gavin his snacks, and then took his seat behind his desk. He seemed to be in a better mood. His brother’s presence, plus Bryce’s ideas, must have helped.
"Sit down. Why do you keep standing there? It’s distracting," Gavin groaned.
Oh... Yeah, I hadn’t even realized that I’d been standing.
"Come here, love," Cooper called to me, and I walked over.
He made me sit on his lap as he worked on his system.
"Are you better now?" I asked.
"Hmm, sure," he hummed. "Your presence helped a lot."
Liar! His brothers helped him, not me.
After a while, he stopped working. "Have you eaten?" He whispered, and I shook my head.
"You feel lighter." He turned to Gavin. "She’s hungry; can you take her to the restaurant across the street? We can’t let the princess stay hungry," he said.
"Have you forgiven her?" Parker asked. "You were bitter and jealous. Have you forgotten that she kissed her little boyfriend?"
Why do they keep referring to Cole that way? And what’s wrong with Parker?
"Nope," he touched my stomach as he answered, "I haven’t forgotten that, but I still can’t let her go hungry."
Parker shifted his gaze to me, but I rolled my eyes and looked away. He chuckled.
"Yeah, sure, I’ll join. Let’s go, Gavin." He walked to the door.
"Alright, we’ll have a meeting at 8:00 PM today; Bryce just texted," Gavin announced as he stood up.
"I guess this is it. Thank you for coming." Gavin and Cooper shook hands before Gavin walked away.
"Go with them; they’ll treat you to a feast. You can return home after that. I’ll have Bryce recall the workers," he muttered.
A smile appeared on my face, but I immediately concealed it. This is why he is my favorite. Wait! Did I just...? Did I just admit that Cooper is my favorite?
I’m so shameless.
"Thank you." I stood up and tried to leave.
"Not even a kiss?" He complained. I returned and pecked him on the lips, but it wasn’t enough. He held me and locked his lips on mine for a few seconds; when we pulled apart, he licked every corner of his lips.
"Bye," I waved to him before exiting the office.
We arrived at the English restaurant, and Gavin booked a private room for us. He ordered a variety of dishes, and I started eating.
While I ate, Parker and Gavin stayed on their phones. A couple of minutes into my meal, Gavin received a call from his assistant.
"It’s time to go; I’ll pay on my way out," Gavin said to us before disappearing.
The room fell silent once more, and I continued my meal. Upon finishing, I pressed the bell, prompting the clearing of the dishes.
"Can we go now?" I looked at Parker, but his eyes remained glued to his phone; he was smiling at it. Who is he chatting with?
I knew he was chatting with someone because he hadn’t stopped typing. Curious, I moved behind him and looked at his phone.
He was chatting with someone on WhatsApp. The contact was saved as "BABY."
I tried to read the chats, but he dropped his phone and turned to me.
"What’s that?"
"Who’s she?" I pointed to his phone.
Why is he happy chatting with this "baby"?
"Why do you care?"
Why wouldn’t I care? If he caught me cheating, his reaction would have been very different.
Displeased by his question, I walked to the seat, sat down, and folded my arms.
"Why? Are you mad?" He leaned closer to me, but I remained still.
"I never took you as the type to be jealous, though." He pursed his lips, but I stayed quiet.
Silence returned to the room, but Parker broke it with his confession.
"She’s my sister," he revealed. His words shocked me, and before I knew it, I was staring at him.
His sister? He has a sister? Come to think of it, I don’t know anything about them other than the fact that they are brothers. I’ve never tried to find more information about them. I’m not even sure they’re blood brothers.
"Your sister?" I asked, and he smirked. "Why do you have that look on your face?"
"You have a sister?!" freeweɓnøvel.com
"Yeah, why?"
"How old is she?"
"Seven."
Seven?? What a surprise!
"Is she also Bryce, Gavin, and Cooper’s sister?"
"Why do you ask? Why are you suddenly interested in us? Do you like us enough to learn more about us?" He retorted, but I stayed quiet.
"Let’s go; you’re done." He stood up and walked to the door. He was about to exit the room but paused at my words, "Can I meet her?"
"You want to meet her?" He looked at me.
I gulped. "Yeah, is it possible?"
"Sure," he gave me a one-sided smile. "When do you want to meet her?"
"Right now!" I was suddenly so curious about their personal life. They’ve never told me anything about their lives, so I’m genuinely curious. Does he have other siblings? What about his parents? I’m eager to find out.
